  1. I know he brought at least one with him and didn't talk to the existing ones the first day he was there, I'm sure he was told what to do:)
  2. Don't read the post if it bothers you that much.
  3. Knoxsportsmom Sometimes we want to see what we want to see. I know exactly how he coaches and your perspective in these situations seems to be coming from a loving mom which I applaud you for. However I have had two sons there who were not the best players when they started out but ended up being stars and received honors including All State and Regional MVP. He pushed them because he knew they weren't giving their or all. In fact some of the other players told me they were harder on my boys than any of the other players. Both received scholarship offers and one played division one. And they now would go to war with Blevins if you asked him to. I've seen him make players put on their coats before they go outsideT hardly a person not caring about the welfare of a player. Tough yes but he won't let my kids play after they had been injured even after they were released by the doctors, so your claims while maybe truthful( seems like someone lied about the stomach kick) I would doubt it was absolute as presented here. During my years there he was overprotective of the injured and that's my experience so I guess we can chalk that up to perspective. And most of all your child didn't go thru anything that any other child didn't go thru through that's played at BHS(Dawg Days we no more than two a days at football-you are not playing church league anymore) they there it's just some knows it's takes more effort to succeed. BY THE WAY all the admin had to do was tell him not to practice .....yet downtown and everyone else knew what it was and other good schools in the area do the same. Finger story is crazy but believe what you want to believe. You have accomplished what you wanted and now you have what you want there at BHS, but I won't be funding it anymore until the admin changes. So in your mind, you came out with what you wanted, a good man as your new coach but a bad hire if you want to be successful. The admin had a chance for a home run hire in Jon Higgins and I know he had support on the committee. A man with UT ties, experience with Jodie Wright, done a great job at Central and they select someone who is on no ones radar screen in Knoxville for a basketball hire. But the admin with an AD with no playing or coaching experience makes a another choice that is a head scratcher and Blevins was no where around. And I'll leave one with you , check out another one of their hires and what teachers there are saying kids might have more to worry about than a basketball coach....DEHER. By the way, Alls well that ends well, you guys all seem to be happy and Blevins is happy. So life is good. And I expect to see a run down there at Buckhorn within a year or two for state and coaches are still telling parents, Blevins is where the kids need to go if they want to go to the next level. So I'm sure also that all those that didn't get to play at Bearden will get to play now that you have a new coach, so everything is going to be ok. Also I know what a noser is and I know what a duck walk is and i also know that most of his correcting events help to eliminate mistakes the second time around, sort of like life . I can tell you more about all this than you can ever imagine.......and I also still have friends in you must:)
  4. Knoxsportsmom, I beg to differ but there is a lot going on at Bearden that eventually will get out and you will eventually know as well. The fact is a coach really can be fired at anytime for any reason, Blevins or anyone else for that matter so the truth of allegations can actually play very little in a decision. I have no doubt some might see his actions as being demeaning but little 18 year old Johnny at BHS shouldn't have to be taught to be mentally tough etc but his parents go to watch the UT game on Saturday and cheer that Coach Jones is being tough on them to make them men. Practices that exceed time? TSSAA has things to say about that. Too many kids in the car.....yes he should have been disciplined for that. But the most serious one they got wrong....a physical act against a player that never happened....anyone get suspended or disciplined for that?...seems they should have. Most coaches over there now have probably done all those things at some point, other than the direct physical contact. One question that was asked by the Superintendent at the hearing was " why are you playing so many freshmen ?".....which to me speaks greatly of what went down here, along with momma's whose son didn't make the team. Seems we should be spending more time getting superintendents and directors of transportation disciplined and suspended for the job they're doing relative to bus safety. And you should spend a little more time researching the subject that you know so little about. In fact Blevins actually took a job two years ago at another location but when he started telling the players he was leaving, several of them became so emotional he called the school back and told them he changed his mind. Another example of what a terrible person he is to the kids. You really don't have enough knowledge here to comment .
  5. Irish Exactly right, not only coaches but the entire guidance office at the school ....some have said many of them knew too much?......they are involved in grades aren't they?-.........the list doesn't stop! Teachers hired that didn't work out because of sexual issues or drugs etc etc......
  6. Real story is not Blevins, it's the admin at Bearden and it's not going away.
  7. 93.....your so wrong from where your coming from that it doesn't really deserve a response. There are issues there that I can't discuss that will be addressed and sooner than later. Just stay tuned.
  8. Ok here is the skinny, 5 man selection committee, Wells interview as a courtesy and then removed his name. Only other decent coach to apply was Jon Higgins from Central and he would have probably been a good fit. Parrot was an after thought(probably a good man), mediocre coach by all standards. Wells would not take job with Bartlett/Lynn there . Bartlett's newspaper remark about "phone ringing off the hook" was a total stretch when in effect anyone within a 300 miles who was a coach on the same level of Blevins won't touch the job with a ten foot pole. Parrot evidently didn't do his homework in knowing what was going on there. In addition Bartlett from some sources may have been trying to get the CAK middle school principal job but he didn't . Some support on the committee for Higgins but decision was Bartlett's for Parrott. He apparently didn't want any area coaches with any connections to Blevins in the job and Parrott obviously would be holding to him for the more than generous opportunity he was give-Bartlett thrives on that kind of stuff evidently. His chances of being hired at any Knoxvilke school normally would be 1000 to 1. The only good thing I hear is the softball guys are involved in a massive effort to get him out and would like to have him out by Sept bit they may have to wait until the board is sworn in so he may have another year.....if I were the baseball coach I'd be looking as it seems he's next on the list(highly successful and disciplined are not characteristics That get you far at Bearden)
  9. So many folks on here supporting the admin and whose kids couldn't make the team?
  10. CAK coach, I heard he wanted that job at one time but his experience with Bartlett changed his mind. However the dad of one of the kids who played for Blevinsa few years back ( the dad reportedly vowed to get Blevins) is an assistant at CAK along with his son I law.... Sounds like at least there is a plan:):) but......Bartlett might not be there next year, a rumor
  11. red and black Kids out of zone, mute point, I know personally that two of the kids went there because parents asked some of the local college coaches which high school they should attend and they them Bearden, that's first hand not rumor. The admins there need to go. I don't have enough space here to tell you all of the things but here is a couple. A students favorite middle school teacher suddenly gets to transfer to Bearden when that student starts high school but later leaves town because of suspension due to alleged improper conduct with student.....coach resigns for not firing assistants yet one of first assts they hired from a top ranked school suddenly is charged......? Etc etc etc have you ever heard of an AD not have playing experience, admin experience ??? How could that ever happen??? Poor leadership......not to mention how the academics have suffered and we now have ice hockey and lacrosse??
  12. And also about the guy that deleted, he knows crap about the boosters I was in the boosters for over 5 years directly. And president for 2 years and it was a well oiled machine, because of Blevins. If it's screwed up its because people don't step up , have them contact me I will show them how it's done!!
  13. HGman Yep just trying to see what was dropping out there and see where the opposition might be. I'll bet the farm the one whose suddenly dropped off was a parent, probably gas a talk white kid who was not getting to play because of freshmen and has to go out and beg to get on an AAU team. His parents are probably living thru him and are amazed that he's not getting to play. Sad part is all the kids are good kids but parents are feeling that universal thing going around called entitlement. He claims to know a lot but he really didn't know much if anything. Most of the claims against Blevins were bogus. The child who they claim he kicked, the mother personally told me it didn't happen and said she wrote a letter to McIntyre telling him that. Practices, no substance at all, he never violated policy and as far as talking badly and abusing the kids even DCS laughed in their face. The only thing he was guilty of was the car deal which he admitted but if the AD had done his job that never would have happened...and he didn't want to leave the kid behind. Put all the teachers and principals on the lie secrecy or and ask them if they have ever violated the "taking the kid hone policy" and you might have to fire a lot of them. The Fact of the matter is that there are freshmen players there that are so good that it will mean most upperclassmen won't be playing the next few years and many of those kids are from middle to affluent white families with $, connections or both. Not the case with the minority's kids for the most part. I understand even the superintendent asked why so many freshmen were playing!! Coaches out there looking to coach at Bearden, that's what you like to see huh? The superintendent checking on who plays on your team? Give us a break! Blevins will land on his feet and he will get a good job (it won't be DB) and Bearden will have the girls team coach will.attempt to take them to glory, a responsive foundation for raising money and getting power in exchange and an athletic program doomed to mediocrity . However, from other things I'm hearing those brown nosers may soon have new principals and ADs to work there magic on. Yea HGM I think you and I frequent the same circles and the one that drooped out really doesn't have a clue of all the things going on there.
  14. What's up with that school, and sports? Appears they are trying to run off maybe the best basketball coach in Tn? Replaced best FB coach they ever had with someone that has won 7 games in 2 years? Has athletic director that hasn't ooached?
