  1. Any word on how spring practices are going? or went for those that are already done
  2. Who's the best player on the field? The freshmen QB last year looked like your top talent, and I will say I was very impressed with the young man. However, I wouldn't say he is the best player in the region just yet. I would say they have a shot to make it to the semi finals, but so do 4 other teams in this region really now that Morristown West is 6A and region 1 doesn't have anybody else.
  3. I wouldn't go that far just yet, next year (2019) maybe as most of these teams were loaded heavily with sophomore talent
  4. 1. Catholic 2. Beech 3. Henry 4. Fulton 5. South Doyle
  5. When does catholic move to D2?
  6. What do people know about Bosken? Cleveland looked like they had a strong season last year, and it looked like he made a struggling Crockett program relevant in their area during his tenure there.
  7. Was he for sure offered the job? up until a few days ago that was the only name I heard as a serious contender
  8. Only 20+ years in 3 different sports across 4 different states. Only 1 year as a head coach though, and that was more of a glorified baby sitting position in middle school track than an actual coaching opportunity. That is all besides the point, as I did not apply for the job. However, once again, you did not answer the question. But chose to act as all-knowing and imply that you know something the rest of us do not. If that is the case, then good for you. The rest of us will know the secret this afternoon after an announcement is made.
  9. What issue is to be had? I assume you mean with your current employer or place of employment... if that is what you mean, I have already answered your question in my last post.
  10. You can say the name of the coach without giving away your "sources" of who supplied you with the information. My biggest pet peeve of working in education is plenty of my co-workers tend to start acting like the kids themselves and make an "in" crowd of secret safe keepers. I am not sure if that is the case here, but it is very reminiscent. This may be shocking information for some, but when you apply for any job, that job contacts your previous employer (duh). So as far as hurting someone's career- that is a bunch of bologna (and yes I did sing the song in my head when I spelled that out). So if you just enjoy being in on the information in a case of "I know something you don't know", on the behalf of the rest of us- GROW UP!
  11. Aren't the kids supposed to start spring practice Monday?
  12. I think most years A/AA is over represented (not saying this year-but most years) on this team. If you look at the "Prep-Xtra" area- most of the top A/AA teams in the state are in the PX (Pigeon Forge, Greenville, Alcoa, and now Gibbs). These kids wrestle each other at state and one of the group becomes state champion and the paper picks that kid as "All-Prep Xtra". However, the top AAA schools (Heritage, William Blount, Halls, Bearden, HV) usually have a kid that deserves the spot, but is only a state-runner up (sometimes not even that) so he gets 2nd team and people start to argue. I hate that TSSAA limits the number of tournaments teams can go to because I would love to see a Prep-Xtra Invitational like they do in track.
  13. I watched them both at Knox Catholic Inv but Parietal was at 160 at the time.
  14. What's the rumor? Who's got the spot?
  15. I would say the opposite 1st team has 6 Knoxville Schools and 8 Surrounding. 2nd team has 10 Knoxville and 4 Surrounding. I don't really think that matters though because if you look at each match up, I think they got it right. I would maybe flip 1st and 2nd team at 152 and 195 but its hard to argue A/AA vs AAA when the kids don't have a head-to-head. Regardless, the Knoxville paper is awful in covering high school sports so I am surprised they even did this well.
  16. 1st Team: 106- Hunter Davis (Heritage) 113- Tyler McKeefery (Farragut) 120- Bryan Sanchez (Heritage) 126- Calvin Martin (William Blount) 132- Chase Brown (Halls) 138- Kyle Burns (Bearden) 145- Josh Teaster (Heritage) 152- Elijah Davis (Fulton) 160- Noel Levya (Gibbs) 170- Max Grayson (Bearden) 182- Dawson Satterfield (William Blount) 195- Noah Evans (Alcoa) 220- Javier Salvador (Heritage) 285- Thomas Roberts (Anderson County) Coach of The Year- Tim Pittman (Gibbs) Nominees for Wrestler of the Year: Calvin Martin (William Blount), Chase Brown (Halls), Elijah Davis (Fulton), Noel Levya (Gibbs), Javier Salvador (Heritage) 2nd Team: 106: Josh Wallin (Greeneville) 113: John Pittman (Gibbs) 120: Zach Garabrandt (Farragut) 126: Tanner Thornton (Grace Christian) 132: Landon Adzima (Gibbs) 138: George Gillman( Gibbs) 145: Matthew Maxwell (Gibbs) 152: Josh Pietarila (Hardin Valley) 160: Gilmore Ortiz (Heritage) 170: Isaiah Brooks (Gibbs) 182: Trent Knight (Greeneville) 195: Brent Buckman (Halls) 220: Grant Brace (Alcoa) 285: Eli Chinique (CAK)
  17. Looks like he is in some trouble. They may have a new HC this season too...
  18. So does this hire mean that Central and AE will start to fall again?
  19. Personally I would predict 1. Central 2. South Doyle 3. Sevier County 4. Halls 5. Gibbs 6. Carter 7. Seymour I know we are still months away from any game being played so a lot could change, but that may end up being my pre-season prediction. I originally was going to put SD at number 1, but if Fawver is back and healthy I would give the bobcats the edge. Just my opinion though
  20. How does this region shape up this year? A lot of people threw off on how easy this region was last year, but I think this region may be very tough this year as most of these teams were dominated by a lot of young talent. Central was looking like they weren't even going to make the play offs last year, but then won 4 straight (3 of the 4 being Gibbs, Sevier County, and South Doyle) and made it all the way to the semifinals, so are they the pre-season favorite? I think South Doyle has as much talent as anyone in the area, and Sevier County had a stud Quarterback that was only a freshmen- So I think these two have a reasonable shot of winning it as well. I don't know much about Carter, and I don't know much about Seymour other than they will have a new coach this year. Gibbs and Halls will also have a new HC as both of their coaches resigned, so those programs are kind of question marks right now too.
  21. Am I the only that thinks its odd that the Halls coach and Powell coach both resigned in consecutive days? Could be mere coincidence but who knows.
