  1. the old "we've never been here before" disguise. happens every year.... but you never see a "regular" use that great strategy. coach bear bryant once told his team when addressing touchdown celebrations...."boys, when you make it to the end zone, act like you've been there before." good advise from a great coach.
  2. mcminn and maryville thurs 3/2.....mcminn and mcallie monday3/6
  3. their junior class is excellent...they have been waiting for their time....from the falcons to the fury to the impact...now farragut. mr swift knows the road.
  4. im going out on a limb....farragut will be good again.
  5. i look for soddy to be a good team again. they realize how close they came last year and that will make them want it more this year. but to say they will "walk through" mcminn is stretching it. mcminn will be solid again this year. they have two all state players returning as well as 4 or 5 other starters, a very good transfer, a good group of underclassmen that have had alot of playing time and a coach that has led them to the state tourney 3 straight years. it should be a good year for both teams.
  6. soddy did lose alot of good players but they left behind the ability and hunger to win. they were the best team that i saw last year that didnt make it to the state tourney....i thought they would be there. i believe they will contend in this years district and region...when a team plays at the level that they did last year it has a tendency to carry over to the next. ooltewah should make the road for soddy much tougher this year. the tacklins and golden (if he is still there) are a great base and if emillio has vastly improved, they will be the team to beat in the district. the region will see one of these teams advance to the sectionals and from there it is one win and state bound.......good luck to both teams
  7. McMinn junior Braden Fetzer was taken from us prematurely thursday 6/17/05. Please remember his family and friends.
  8. ditto...best game i have ever seen.
  9. zap....i believe i should clarify what i meant to say.....his dad was responsible for the early developement of some of our players...he coached alot of these kids in their early years before his tragic accident. i didnt mean to state that it was he, rather than tom or curtis, who refined the skills of some of the better players. as for hicks and runyan...they can play and certainly would contribute next year.
  10. cree....u are right..this will be a rebuilding year.....that is why i said that mcminn will be "HIGHLY REGARDED in their district and region with an OPPORTUNITY to make it to the final 8"...........it was a rebuilding year this year also, losing santi, reid, owens, johnson, shaver and marco ......however, you got them there. you will do it again next year. as for the rumors..................this may not be a rumor....winfield...he will solidify the goal position and is also a great field player........2nd rumor is hicks...he is a prolific scorer but can play any position...his dad loved the sport and put a great amount of time and effort in it, and is responsible for the development of many of the players on this team.............3rd is cardin.....you know him...he can contribute on defense..............and 4th is runyan...he may have a conflict in interest with tennis, but the last soccer i saw him play, he was beginning to control the center of the field. those are rumors....if we get any 2 of these...mcminn will be the beneficiary. those are the rumors
  11. andrew kimball's bicycle kick in the mcminn co. invitational....beautiful
  12. bearden and farragut will both be better.....their 2006 and 2007 classes are very, very good. as last year, mcminn lost some very good players in price, hinshaw, stansell, axley and armstrong but they do return a strong core group that includes kimball and slack, both all staters and several other select players, 3 of which play D1 and 5 who have played in the state finals in lower divisions... 3 of them twice. in addition 2 new players, one an eligible transfer and the other a freshman each play select D1. and there are rumors of 2 or 3 other impact players with select experience returning to the soccer field next season after a couple of years off...who knows? they should be highly regarded in their district and region with an opportunity to make the final 8 for the 4th consecutive year.
  13. there were 8 worthy teams that earned their way to the state this year....brentwood earned the title. dont be surprised if the field of 8 looks similar next year.....the big difference is that brentwood will be wearing the big target on their backs. hendersonville will be there....farragut and bearden will be there and better....mcminn has the talent returning to make it to the dance....im not sure how hard graduation will hit blackman, houston and germantown but i will assume that they will also be in the hunt next may. congrats to brentwood and all of the state teams and looking forward to another great year of tennessee soccer in 2006.
  14. correct..kimball was all state last year, however, he is just a junior this year.
