  1. Dusting it off now.......the 16's are the second week so I don't think it's out yet. Realistic goal I feel is a gold round finish. With any luck on the draw and if the girls play to their potential, I think thats a fair ask.
  2. You boys in west TN have some weird customs. Please keep them in Haywood county
  3. I'm not even sure what this means. If you are trying to get in my undies to "shake my bush", I require dinner and a kiss first.
  4. Thanks Captain Obvious for your benevolent insight.
  5. That's a discussion that needs to be had with those other umpires, not the one who accurately enforced the rule.
  6. Then tell your principal and school board
  7. This doesnt justify him acting like an ####. Some of these boys will think it's ok to yell, spit, and cuss someone they disagree with. There's no justification for what the coach did, none!
  8. Perhaps if coaches, players, and parents acted like civil human beings at high school sporting events, specifically towards officials, we would have better qualified people in those positions. Who would want to be treated like that at their job and continue to do it?
  9. What if those players were seniors?
  10. If there was open zoning like Maryville and Alcoa, this would not be an issue.
  11. Pretty good field this weekend in Knoxville. Per AES, the number 5th, 24th, and 36th nationally ranked 16U teams will be there.
  12. It's ironic you used the Alliance 15-1 team has an example as that team two years ago (13-1) was the only 1 team that I'm aware of in Alliance history that did not play in the Open division at Nationals. They played in the next division down and still did not perform well.
  13. The Alliance 13-1 beat MidTN 13 in crossover play but got whipped in the Silver division game against MidTN. 90% of parents do not know the difference between JVA/USA/SRVA and probably don't care. most, if not all, of the area clubs focus on AAU Nationals in Orlando because that all they've ever known. What they do care about is being as competitive as possible in the tournaments they attend. I say play your team where you are competitive. Getting destroyed at these large tournaments is not fun for anyone and I say it does more harm than good compared to being competitive in non-Open divisions.
  14. Did anyone happen to see the results from Big South? Looks like a rough outing for most mid Tennessee teams/clubs.
  15. No, 16 Alpha lost two games in three sets to 18 Paragon (17-25, 32-30, 15-12 and 17-25, 25-23, 15-12). 16 Alpha beat 18 Bravo in three sets(20-25, 25-17, 15-8) Right now, Paragon is a better team, especially on first touch.
  16. Girls played well. The two games against 18 Paragon were amazing to watch. both games went three sets and at one point it was 7 people deep watching the games. Great atmosphere for sure.
  17. was the other thread removed?
  18. One player for sure from this years Alliance 16-1 will. The 15's are a toss up because that age group is weak. The strongest 15 in the state plays on TPV's 16 Alpha team so unless she's asked to play on the 16's again next year (very doubtful) , I can see 1, maybe 2 players from that age group move to TPV. If she's asked to play 16's again, that number could go up to 3-4 players. 14's in the area are weak. That's the group you have seen the most movement between clubs the past two years. None of the top TPV players will go back to Alliance in this age group. 13's are interesting and could be the age group that defines these two clubs. MidTN dominates and Alliance parents see that and are questioning the direction of their team compared to last years performance. TPV has a couple of strong pieces at this age group but not nearly enough, if a couple players move from Alliance to MidTN or TPV, that will mean big trouble for the future of Alliance. These are only my opinions, but my educated opinions.
  19. That same coach/director (who does not coach a team now) was recently called out at a program parents meeting about her not traveling to tournaments. She had "prior obligations" but now plans to attend away tournaments.
  20. People can decide for themselves if they want to take my word or not, but I stand by what I say because I'm familiar with both clubs, a lot of the families, and the history of volleyball in the middle TN area. I also stick by my statement that there will be a larger number of girls moving clubs next year than this past year. As for all the clubs around, the exposure for volleyball is great but the top level girls need to be in the same club/team to compete Nationally. There's enough talent in the area to have at least 2-3 teams finish in the top 10 Nationally if all of the top players played together. 13's at MidTN and 16's at TPV come to mind as teams that have done this or at least tried to move in this direction. The rest of the ages seem to have the best players spread across Alliance, MidTN, and TPV (I haven't seen much of Ethos this year so no comment). Side note: Several college coaches have been at TPV's 16-18 practices to watch some players. The college power conferences have been represented well at those practices.
  21. TPV management DID NOT initiate the conversation. I'm sure they were excited once they were approached, but TPV did not initiate. If you mean TPV showed up at tons of high school and middle school and were seen there more than any other club did, then you can call that targeting
  22. To be crystal clear, the politics I mention have zero to do with playing time. ZERO. TPV did not raid Alliance as you put it. Those girls approached TPV AFTER they talked to Alliance. If you don't think the training is different, just ask players who have been part of both programs, they'll tell you about the difference in training.
  23. Osage: It is Alliance families but they have mentioned MidTN along with TPV. Training and politics is the top reasons. It's not playing time because these players are contributors to their team.
