  1. No , several of them went to Nashville Christian and Ensworth and the ones that went to Fairview , started school here , just went to Fairview for HS. Also the Stanfield boy went to East until sometime in Middle School, but they moved to Waverly before he was out of MS.
  2. What a completely ignorant statement !!!! I don't think any parents think their kids are Top talent , just want them to be well coached and allowed to enjoy what ever sport they enjoy. Also there was a period of time when EH had a lot of talent and was winning at every level until they got to HS, which lead to many of them leaving the county and playing else where, because of the awful coaching. As far as the other nonsense , I have lived in HC for 35+ ( Moved to Tn when I was 10) years and I assure you both ends of the county have major drug issues, typical response from someone from Centerville.
  3. Couldn't tell you a thing about Matt Jones, he was there before any of my boys were in HS, as far as King, he may have new the game, but to say he was a good coach is a very big stretch !!!!! He had more talent during his time than anyone would need to be successful and he got nothing out of it. I am not saying anything about him personally because I do not know him, he may be a very good man , but he was not a very good coach.
  4. They are all at fault , CULTURE is a very big word, that again is all about perception, for instance some would say that the younger generations CULTURE is more of entitlement and that most of them are not capable of doing what it takes to be high achievers, but again that is perception based on a few, not all. Great leadership (coaching) can change that perception in a hurry. So I am not trying to have it both ways, I just do not agree with the assessment. You can't show me any team in any sport that has been coached as poorly as EHHS Football has been the last 5-6 years that doesn't have a lack of interest. Kids have to much to do these days to be a part of anything that has no chance of success. They have a lot of good kids, but they have never had a real leader/coach.. IMO So I hope this new coach comes in and helps these young men reach their full potential, because they deserve it, but it wont happen, unless he is willing to enforce some discipline and weed out the ones that are not willing to be good teammates. I have been invested for quite a few years, but those days are over, I will just continue to watch from a distance and hope it improves.
  5. No I do not confuse the two, I just don't buy into the new generation blaming everything on "A Bad Culture" , the only time they have had issues was last year when all the upper classmen quit, was it a bad culture maybe , but it was definitely poor coaching. I guess being old school and a veteran, I don't throw that word around so loosely, because from my experience, one mans misery is sometimes another's paradise, I have also heard that phrase thrown around in the work place and it is usually just one or two, so I just fire them and move on, again perception. I have been around this program for quite a few years and all of their problems can be corrected with some good coaching and discipline, they have definitely had enough talent to be competitive, much more competitive than the records posted above, now no one is expecting them to be world beaters, but they could have and should have been much better, quite a few of those years, this reaches way past the most recent coaching.
  6. They haven't had a bad culture, just poor coaching/leadership which lead to mass exodus. It also doesn't help when you have a generation of youth that doesn't want to put in the work it takes to be successful. They had enough talent the last few years, especially the year before last, that they should have won a lot more games than they did. I guess we will see if this new coach can get them to buy into his program and become good teammates , because a good teammate will play any position the coach needs him to play, not just the one he wants to play. They have a pretty good young group and could have a decent senior class (if they come back), lets just hope this coach uses the talent that he has more efficiently.
  7. The last thing they should be looking for is WINS!!!! Wow did you actually say that, wins are like sales in business, make enough of them and all your pain goes away. Also you want the kids to come back then WIN!!! I agree that the next coach needs to restore confidence in the program and unite the student body to get the players to come back, but none of that will matter if he isn't a good coach and isn't able to develop the talent he has. Sometimes as a coach you have to manufacture WINS !!
  8. They had over 50 apply for the position, so I think it has taken a while to weed through everything, as far as offering 3 different coaches the job, I believe that is misinformation. Also considering the recent state of the program, I would like to think that they are just doing their due diligence to insure they hire the right Man for the job. Besides they have a very good man in an interim position that is very passionate about the TEAM, so I see no harm in them taking their time to insure they get it right.
  9. My son said no announcement was made today.
  10. I think it is just a bunch of hear say!!! Why would anyone found to be competent enough to be holding interviews, or put in charge of holding interviews ever offer the same job to multiple people. You always put a deadline on a offer, so that you do not lose out on your second choice. I hope this is just rumor's..
  11. Did they actually offer the job to 3 different coaches or are 3 different coaches claiming they were offered the job, because I have had an ex-employee claim I offered them a position before, (which never happened) which obviously wasn't true, because any offer I make is in a formal offer of employment (Contract form) . Sounds like maybe the communication could be better.
  12. So , what is his background and where has he coached?? The only thing I could find on-line was that he was an assistant at McGavock.
  13. They had 50+ apply for it from what I understand and supposedly held interviews a few weeks ago. So who knows what the hold up is and what is going on. I think the interim Coach is a really good man and seems to have a lot of good ideas/plans , but is he the best candidate if they had 50+ apply according to the paper? The most important thing about whoever the new Coach is, will be his ability to get the student athletes to come back and play football, they lost so many last year , that quit during the season and that doesn't even count the ones that just are not playing.
