  1. I’m going to go out on a limb and say either Jellico or Hancock pulls an upset. Watched them play and they’re playing at a high level at the right time, not same teams from a few months ago. District 2 is slept on a lot but either of those teams are capable in my opinion, which ain’t worth much! Also heard Cosby have Hampton some trouble the other night, and they’re the 4 from district 2, any truth to that?
  2. Been pretty quite for East Tn single A ball. How does 1-A shake out in the postseason? Thinking Hampton/North Greene for District and Region title? U High or Unaka have a shot. Any teams out of District 2 have a chance Cosby or Hancock, maybe Jellico. Interested to see everyone’s thoughts, going to try and make it out and watch a bunch of ball. Also where is Region Tournament this year?
  3. Based on what I have seen and heard, is Hampton simply 25 points better than anyone in the Region? They've been destroying teams without half of their roster. Seems like they'll roll straight into a Sub-State based on very early season basketball, just a thought.
  4. District 1 Teams have been mentioned here, whats to expect from District 2 in this Region? Cosby, Hancock, Jellico? Not familiar since I don't have a kid playing anymore but would like to keep up with this region this season.
  5. First as someone who follows District 2, yes it is not a very strong conference. However, Johnson at Cosby can absolutely go, and they have some shooters to complement him. Also you can give them +10 at home easily. Secondly, the 40 point Hancock loss in the first of December to NG is not reliable. I know that 4 Hancock starters came off quarantine the day before, plus they got news the program was shutdown through January the day of. A handful of practices and 1 game by the first of January. I say all of that to say this, don’t be surprised if Cosby and Hancock give Hampton and NG a run for their money in semis. Both a solid single A teams, plus Cosby being at home is a major advantage.
  6. I wouldn't sleep one bit on the 3 District 2 teams (Cosby, Hancock, Jellico). Johnson kid from Cosby is the real deal, got some solid players to complement him, they've played a tough schedule so their records is deceiving. Also going to Hancock in the first round won't be a cake walk, they played Cosby tough and seem to be playing well. Jellico has some guards that can stroke, if they are hot they can be dangerous as well. NG and Hampton are both very tough from what I have heard though, love tourney time!
  7. Cosby seems to be rolling, looks like they are the only team that will give District 1 a run for their money. Any of the other District 2 teams have a chance to compete with 1, Jellico, Hancock, GB?
  8. Out of curiosity has there ever been such disparity as far as W-L in a Region Tournament. Gonna have 4 20 win teams on the bottom, and 3 teams with losings records on the top. I know wins and losses dont matter come tourney time, but thats insane!
  9. Should be interesting to see these games tonight, IMO Hancock and Cosby can be 2 best in Region on any given night. Cosby over Greenback by 20 Hancock over Jellico by 15 Think it will be close early in both, set up a classic Hancock/Cosby Final
  10. As a follower of Hancock their top 2 scorers had been out with the flu all week, and if I'm not mistaken this game was played at Cosby which we all know is a tough place to play. I do believe it was a 6 point game at the half and Hancock led after 1. Cosby shot lights out second half of the game as well and things changed quickly. With that said Cosby is a pretty tough team, esp at home and honestly from the games I've seen Cosby UH Hancock Hampton should be your Region semis (which would be fun). Unaka and North Greene may have something to say about that and Greenback looks completely different with their other big kid back. Cosby may be 20 points better than Hancock but lets not jump to many conclusions until a healthy Cosby and a healthy Hancock play @ Hancock. Also I may be wrong but isn't 2-A tourney at Hancock? Should be interesting.
  11. Well from what I have seen it looks that Cosby and Hancock may be the only teams that will compete from District 2, it will be interesting to see the two play. Still not sure if Cosby is healthy, I know Hancock was down some kids the only game they lost. Still lots of people sleeping on that team, those kids can flat play when they want to!
  12. Hancock looked pretty tough tonight given some foul trouble for their big, up and down and making shots and the full court pressure gave GB some trouble. May have some of the best guards in the region. Greenback looked exhausted in the 4th
  13. You may be right, luckily I get to keep up with both Districts due to where I live. 2 is a lot better with Greenback in it I think their top 3 (Greenback, Hancock, Cosby) can play with anyone in 1 this year on the right night. I'm biased of course because of my Hancock ties, they have some tough guards and are very well coached and when Cosby and Greenback get healthy they'll probably be a handful.
  14. My grandson plays jv for Hancock, I get to make my way from Kingsport all the way to Greenback Friday night, hope to see some good ball games, heard Greenback has some big ole boys!
  15. Got to see Hampton play, played very hard and have some depth it seemed but looked extremely young. Only other Region 1A teams I’ve seen are NG and Hancock. NG will take some bumps early a lot of young kids, best Hancock team I’ve seen in years, when they shoot it well they can be dangerous. What about Cosby, haven’t seen them yet?
  16. From what games I have seen I think it is wide open all the way across the board. All 4 games could be tight, it's according to what teams show up. If Cosby is healthy they can beat Hampton, especially at home, and its according to which Hampton team shows up.From what I've seen they are pretty young, but I also heard that Cosby's best player may be out. This could be a toss up. I think North Greene handles Jellico @ home. Playing very solid here lately, I don't think Jellico has a lot this season. I got to see Hancock for the first time this year a few weeks back, much improved from the last few years, really scrappy with a good young coach. I think they can give Sullivan some trouble, did they beat them earlier in the year? Greenback has all kinds of size and athletic ability, but U high is quick and scrappy. If they play fast and take care of the ball this could be a 4 over 1 upset. But they do have to travel like 3 hours soooooo...... Good luck to all teams, should be a fun tournament, I hope to be in attendance!
  17. As tournament season gets closer who looks to be the favorites out of Region 1-A. Cosby seems like a tough out from District 2 come the Region tournament with size and shooters, not got to see any other teams from District 2, curious to how they stack up? Is Hampton the team to beat out of District 1, from some games I seen earlier in the year North Greene and Cloudland both seemed pretty talented, have heard Hampton is playing well as of late. Both Distric
  18. What teams from the Eastern most part of the state in Region 1 does everyone expect to make a run this year. Should be some teams from each classification returning some solid players this year.
  19. Curious to how Region 1-A plays out this season. First time posting on here, long time fan of several teams through this area, hoping to see what the thoughts are on several of our local teams, and what to watch for this season!
