  1. 36, I haven't seen Gallatin play in the past 2 seasons but I watched a game of y'alls in 2018, 2 games in 2019 and 1 in 2020. Just by looking at the kids on the team, I think about 90-95% of coaches in the state would love to be able to coach the physical talent that I saw on the sideline and on the field. I personally have ZERO knowledge of the situation at Gallatin, but I honestly believe just an average football coach who could relate to his players while also instilling some discipline, accountability and showing "tough love" would be 2nd/3rd round playoff successful there on a yearly basis. And I believe a very good football coach who did previously mentioned things could easily have that talent in 3rd or 4th round of playoffs in a few short years. Just my honest thoughts on what I saw when I last saw them play.
  2. BHS, dont know much abt many schools out west, especially smaller schools so I cant comment on the McKenzie/MASE game except to say I'd like to watch it. That being said, I dont know much abt Bartlett either except to say that I believe the coaches AND players will tell you anytime after Friday night that Beech is the most physical team they played all season. With that, gimme Beech -7 for a dollar. Make that $2!
  3. Figured I would join and add to our stats discussion since I used to live a few miles from Knox West (granted it was 20 yrs ago) and worked on Antioch Pk (actually right in front of Glencliff HS) yesterday and today. I havent even seen or drove by West HS in abt 5 or 6 yrs but I found it hard to believe that its ANYWHERE CLOSE to as diverse as Glencliff. There may be several kids who are all from many different countries but Glencliff HS is almost an entire high school full of kids whose parents were not born in this country. I decided to do a little research for myself and this is what I found. West HS 63% White, 18% Black, 11% Hispanic, 6% Bi-racial, 2% Asian Glencliff HS 61% Hispanic, 19% Black, 15% White, 4% Asian, 1% Bi-racial West HS proficiency as of 2018/2019 Math- 16% (bottom 50% of state) Reading- 53% (top 20% of state) Glencliff HS proficiency as of 2018/2019 **Math- 5% (also bottom 50% of state) ** Reading- 9% (bottom 50% of state) **2018/2019 State average for reading proficiency was 35% and math was 39%. Free or discounted lunch: West HS- 34.3% Glencliff HS- 75.7% Graduation rate for West HS was 91% (bottom 50% for our state) while Glencliff was either 61% or 75% depending on the site (obviously either way would be bottom half of state as well). Average ACT score for West HS was 23 while average ACT score for Glencliff was either 15 or 20 depending on the site (I found it odd at such a discrepancy and both were round numbers). ACT participation at West was 89% while being 83% at Glencliff. West HS was ranked as 76th out of 358 Tn high schools while Glencliff was ranked 324th out of 358. Without a doubt, both schools are diverse. However, the similarities between these 2 schools ends with said diversity. Without even seeing West HS in 5 or 6 yrs, I'm fairly certain that the community support for these two vastly different high schools is as different as the populations that make up each school.
  4. Hamm, Thank you for doing these. We all enjoy reading and "debating" them. Pretty certain Mason Jakob will be entering the 113/120 convo very soon.
  5. No sir, you might as well start a group text with some of posters whose phone numbers you have. Pretty certain that you'll get more action that way.
  6. I was told from a fairly reliable source that this quarter finals game against Tyner is the 1st time in the history of ER football that they've made it past the 2nd round. I found that hard to believe with their teams of the late 80's and early 90's being led by Curtis and David Woodard. I was told all of those teams would make the playoffs and usually got eliminated by Trousdale Co. Can someone in the know in Cross Plains verify (or debunk) that this is the furthest an East Robertson team has ever made it in the playoffs.
  7. Injun1989, ewe all waze make me laff. Its jus harder two reed you're pose. Sea ewe necks weak if you're mitee injuns when this weak. GO JACKETS!!!
  8. Indian1989 was just on here 4 hours ago (lurking). He created this profile on August 15. ERGrad was created 8 days later on Aug 23. He made his last post on that account a couple hrs ago but was on here after that. Not sure what happens if you get the boot, but if he did, he's still able to look at the threads. Either way, I'm sure I've talked him up and for that, I'll go ahead and apologize. Good Luck ER players, coaches and fans. I'll be cheering for y'all from the Henry Co visitors section. GO JACKETS!!!
  9. IndianGrad1989, you can fool some of them all the time and all of them some of the time. However, you can't fool all of us all the time. Please tell Margaret we all said hello and we thank her for the 'tention she's been giving you at the house.
  10. *Logan It would've been good from 58, maybe 60. He freaking drilled it!
  11. I was proud of the Jackets for not packing it in at the half after the pick 6 to close out the 2nd qtr. They came out in the 2nd half and played a much better game. Jackets D more than held their own tonight. Only gave up 14 pts to a VERY GOOD HC team in 4 quarters. I also thought it said ALOT abt the Jackets D that the HC OC didnt run #0 behind #76 with #36 as a lead blocker when all he needed was 3 yards. Being that he scored, great play call and execution by HC. If he doesnt score, EVERY HC fan on here is asking why he didnt do what I would've done 100 times out of 100 times with those 3 guys. The Patriots won and are happy right now, but it wont be a comfortable bus ride back to Paris for several of their players, especially when they get off that bus after riding for 2 hrs. RollRed and crew, y'all gonna need to have an extra ice tub delivered to the fieldhouse before they get home! Great game HC! Hopefully we can return the favor in November when it counts even more!
  12. We got some free football coming our way. 21 up, headed to OT.
  13. Harpeth is 4-0 right now but their SOS is (I'll be kind) not great ( 2022 Cheatham Co. Reg Season Champs, Jo Byrns and Da Creek). ER wins this game by multiple TD's!!!
  14. QB for Greenbrier (#9) name is Nolan Carson. He literally had to run for his life all night when he dropped back to pass, plays safety on defense and then became their punter after a couple of series when their starting punter had a couple of shanks. This is all in addition to the cross country match he ran during the game from far hash to his sideline to get every play. That being said and with it being warm and early in the season, its no wonder the kid starting cramping towards the end of the game. #9 may not have the size that others on his team have, but he is the best football player on that team. He's just a Jr and should get some looks from people that know more abt football than you and I.
  15. Back to the original post by BobbyB, dont act like it cant happen. Yes, yall beat us handily at home in the playoffs (no excuses) after we beat yall in the regular season. Like I said before, i would have rather won the playoff game and not the regular season game but that's anyone. You can clown on someone who makes it 1 game further than you when they choke like yall did with that opportunity. I was actually pulling for yall against Page and listening to the game from abt Monterrey to Watertown after driving home from the Murvul/Oakland game. Btw, "play clock excuse" is for teams that give up 56 and losers! For real, (game outcome aside) I enjoyed my trip to Paris last season. Y'all have a GREAT atmosphere, stadium and some fine people down there. Good Luck HC the rest of the season except when y'all play the Jackets! We'll have our own thread in 6 weeks or so. Back to Jackets and Wild-kittens for me.
  16. Yeah, y'all got us in the playoffs at home and I would have rather won that game than the regular season game but dont act like you lit the jumbotron up at your field. And all that for an extreme choke-job the following week against Page.
  17. And HC faithful, dont say it cant happen. Last year, I personally saw the visiting team walk out of the home team's stadium with the win both times we played last year. All he said was "this team has a chance to be in the State game". And come playoff time, that's all you get, 1 chance every week. First things first, Springfield stung the Bob-kittens last week and gotta take care of the Wild-kittens this week.
  18. I know alot can happen between now and then but barring any major unforeseen injuries (yes, plural), Springfield and HC will meet in the 3rd round of the playoffs. Winner goes to the title game. That's my prediction after week 1.
  19. I was thinking the Jackets by 3 TD's or so, so I think your score prediction will be fairly close. That being said, I havent seen either team this year and just basing my guess off of who I know is coming back for both teams. IMO, #9 for GB was the best player on the field during last yrs game. This was the first game of his sophomore season, with him playing safety and before their coaching staff finally put the ball in his hands on offense. This was also with a UT walk-on (I think got hurt early in the game) and UT commit on his team as well. Hopefully the Jackets D keeps him contained and hes running for his life all night. The Jackets O is in good hands with a very good QB who has a strong arm and he is a LOAD to bring down when he takes off. There aren't many DB's or even LB's who want some one on one in the open field. He has a stable of rb's to hand off to as well. Jackets D will be somewhat small for a 5A school but it's full of kids who do their assignments, fly to the ball, tackle well and are VERY WELL coached. In the end, the Jackets well-balanced team will be too much for the Bobcats and they'll head back up Hwy 41N with the W.
  20. Sam Jones (Kingsman) 75lbs was also undefeated on the elementary team. He's the 6th wrestler who was not listed. Pretty sure that Sam only gave up 2 pts in the entire tournament, and I know for certain that one of them (7-1 dec) was for cutting a kid at the end of the match trying to get a major.
  21. Looks like the Professor, Mr. Matt High, did a dang good job on making predictions for the TNAAU MS state tournament. As good as he did at making predictions, he did an even better job at highlighting and bringing some recognition to the MS kids that will be wrestling on the HS level in the next year or so. Great job Matt and please continue to do this going forward!
  22. 1) We've DEF gotten off topic on this thread. 2) There is no debate that Bradley Co specifically and Chattanooga in general is the wrestling capital of Tennessee. I will even go as far as saying the entire mid-south. It's amazing what Bradley Co HS and Cleveland HS have accomplished throughout the past few decades. 3) However, I do NOT believe there is some sort of conspiracy to keep wrestlers from some teams from winning OW at the state tournament, Ashton Davis in this case. There very well could be a coach or 3 from "team X" that would never vote for a wrestler from "team Z", but I dont think the coaches gather collectively and ask other coaches not to vote for the wrestler from "team Z".
  23. Just my opinion, but adding the population numbers of Davidson Co to mid TN wrestling doesnt reflect the truth. Yes Davidson Co is very populated, but how many state placers, or even qualifiers came from a MNPS? I may be wrong but I dont remember any placers in AA from a Davidson Co HS. John Overton HS had a couple of solid kids but I dont think they placed. In the A division, East Nashville, MLK and Hillwood may have had a handful of placers. That being said, the majority of mid TN state placers dont come from Davidson Co. The majority of the placers come from counties that are outside of Davidson like, Rutherford, Wilson, Williamson, Sumner, Montgomery, etc. However you want to look at it, the quality and depth of wrestling in TN as a whole is better than it was, and I hope that trend continues!
  24. Not sure who won OW in A, but most dominant was Kodiak Cannedy in small schools Kodiak (according to track) has pinned his way to 4 consecutive championships. Shows only 2 kids, one his freshman yr in 126 finals and one his sophomore yr in 145 finals) even made it to the 2nd period.
  25. First comment was one I made a few months ago. Copied and pasted it bc I wasnt sure how to quote from another thread.
