Whites Creek had a total enrollment of 497 this year. That is the problem there. Republic Charter school has a higher enrollment. They should co-op and have one team.

Any Antioch zoned kid that plays football is at Cane RIdge.

    At Glencliff football means soccer

Agreed on all. It’s really difficult for the “have nots” to compete with the “haves” in metro.

Coach Woods at CR has done a great job of building a fence around Antioch and keeping most of Antioch there.

  6. It’s for every grade level in KY. The caveat is that the kid cannot turn 19 before August 1st and had to be enrolled in a KY school district when the 20-21 school year began.

If your school district doesn’t allow for this, then you CANNOT transfer to another school district that may allow it.

Still has to go through the House. If the House passes it then the Governor has to sign off on it. Still not a sure bet.

IF you think the privates are who you have to recruit against you are naive. Those 4 publics have taken it to a whole different level. No longer having an AD in Metro who cares has created the problem. Didn't happen like this in the Brunette days. Sanders is only worried about keeping that office and check while these guys are recruiting kids from all over town. Hermitage kids to Cane RIdge. Hillsboro kids from Antioch. East kids from Old Hickory. Pearl from South Nashville. There are no "zones" anymore. Overton "zone" means nothing.

The entire “open zone” occurrence unleashed all of the hounds who smelled blood. The Glencliff, Antioch, and Whites Creek zone have a lot of kids going to those 4 “power” schools.

You still have to keep YOUR kids that are at your feeder schools. Bottom line. However you do that is up to you and your staff. The more you win, the more likely it is.

Cane Ridge under Eddie Woods has had lots of success.  They are not premier team in MNPS over that time.

    Cane Ridge Results Under Woods:

    2019:  8-4 (Round 2)

    2018:  11-1 (Round 2)

    2017:  13-2 (Runner-Up)

    2016:  12-1 (Quarterfinals)

    2015:  8-3 (Round 1)

    Pearl-Cohn Results Under Brunetti:

    2019:  14-1 (Runner-Up)

    2018:  9-3 (Round 2)

    2017:  11-3 (Semifinals)

    2016:  12-2 (Semifinals)

    2015:  10-5 (Runner-Up)

    2014:  11-3 (Semifinals)

    2013:  10-2 (Round 2)

    2012:  3-7

    2011:  7-6 (Quarterfinals)

    2010:  9-4 (Quarterfinals)

    2009:  5-6 (Round 1)

    2008:  1-9

    2007:  11-3 (Semifinals)

    2006:  10-4 (Semifinals)

Tony Brunetti is on pace to end up with the most victories of anyone to ever coach in MNPS.  EVER!  I believe Jerry Pigue (193), Ron Aydelott (189), Wes Elrod (169), Jim Wilson (148), Maurice Fitzgerald (142), Scott Blade (135), and Herschel Moore (131) are the leaders in all-time wins by head coaches in MNPS history.  As of right now Brunetti currently stands at 123 overall victories.  Blade and Fitzgerald are still active.

If my math is correct he currently has 23 years experience in the classroom (1997-PRESENT).  Barring any setbacks he will be the head football coach at Pearl-Cohn for 7 more years.  He's averaged 11 wins per year (77 total) over the last 7 years (2013-2019).  If he can continue to average 11 victories per year over the next 7 years then that would put him at 200 on the number.

You are forgetting Craig Clayton at Hillsboro from 2012-2016. Coach Clayton has 292 wins in his coaching career over his coaching stops at Todd County (KY) Hopkinsville (KY) Franklin HS (TN) & Hillsboro HS (TN).

They battled injuries all year long, they played their last 5 games with out their starting QB, RB, and OL. Nobody recovers from that . The Covington kid missed the rest of the season , QB missed the last 4 counting the playoffs. Firebird if you think you can score 40 points in 5A or 6A football without Several starters then your eggs must be scrambled. They scored 40 on you all and “gifted“ you 21 points as well I was there . You beat East without several starters you wouldn’t have beat , Gallatin, Shelbyville, Ensworth , or Beech with your starters being out . 3A is not anywhere as tough as 5A . Reflect back to the year before they beat Indy , Beech , Shelbyville ( which they never have before ) as well. Quit bashing a guy you really don’t know , no one bashed your staff for being absent in the state championship game and not scoring an offensive point again and giving up an average of 35 in both games . Hillsboro will miss him just like Overton did. He is a good coach in and off the field . Good Hopefully HB DC will stay . Good Luck to Stewart and the East Eagles .

Hillsboro has only lost to Shelbyville once, which was in 2019. 12-1 vs them all time.

Stewart will do well at East. Give him time and don’t judge in year one. Hopefully admin will give him a chance to bring his own staff and not be handcuffed. If that happens they will make noise in his first year.

First let me say I wouldn't touch RL with a 10 foot corona poll.

    2. JS ?? I mean has anybody seen his offense? He was the weakest link at Overton and I was puzzled when MF made him the OC at hillsboro.

DM I dont know to much about but you comment is interesting about controlling the kids.

I think JS would do a good job at East. Relates well to the kids and has a passion for the game.

Really??? Why not just the best fit for the job?? Black, white, Asian.

I would be calling Hopkinsville, Kentucky and getting Lopez the former DC at Hillsboro a call. The guy can coach and players love him. He has worked under a hall of fame coach for the last decade. He may not want to leave KY but if they want to beat Pearl, he is a guy that can do it. Being an alum of Hillsboro, I was very impressed with what he and Clayton did for the Burros.

I appreciate all the kind words. I’m still finishing my certification and won’t be done until August. East will have a great selection of either coaches with HC experience or rising coordinators in Metro. I know many of them personally and all would do a heck of a job.

Agreed DL. I think it's a very good situation over there personally. A lot of positives. Hope you are doing good up north.

Yes sir. Still challenges up here but not nearly as many day to day issues. 8-4 last year and should be better this season. Got a chance to make a long run this year if we stay healthy.

Inside scoop just wandering why you think it's not as desirable as some might think. Talent is there, new stadium, great alumni support, good day to day for a teacher/coach. What am I missing?

East is in one of the best football situations in Nashville. They have to get this hire right though, Coach Waite worked his tail off for that community and his young men.

I’m brutally honest on these forums, so I don’t want to ruffle feathers haha. You’re close enough to Todd county. Is he a good man?  He seems to be, but we all know what interviews can do. If he is, that’s huge. My inclination is to believe it because I don’t know many military men that are scum bags! Haha. Hop town is good ball, few decent programs, but the prestige is dragged down by the bad programs. Mayfield would win in any class in any state, maybe not championships, but win.

He is a good man. Tough, hard-nosed coach. I feel like he will need quality assistants around him because he is stepping up to a much much much tougher level of competition week in and week out.

He did a good job at Todd County. Got people back interested in that program. It will be interesting to see because he doesn’t have much coaching experience on the HS level for what that’s worth.
