Real question in my mind is why is everything in the middle part of the state. Why doesn’t all state championship events rotate between East, West and Middle. Where is it fair that the middle Tennessee teams always get to play close to home. They should have to travel once every three years instead of East and West having to travel every year

It’s crazy that these teams work hard all year to get there and then are made to play at times of a ridiculous nature. 9:30 am? 8:45 pm? why can’t we make the tournament a 2 week event with the boys playing over the same time period and not make teams play before noon or 1. If this was truly for the kids then these crazy times would not happen

Rotate the regions 1 vs 8 then the next year vs 7 and down to 5 and start over with the stipulation that no one plays a team from their district until finals

They do indeed and since they hide how they decide the match ups it seems not right

I believe Chester and Southside will play for region 6 finals

When it comes to tournament time coaches can come up with schemes to stop or at least slow down a team that has that one player who dominates their offense. Other players have to step up to advance

It’s a simple question. Over 385 students in 2021 and 2022 and in 2023 they have less than 100 students in 7th grade. Seems that only happened when they couldn’t win state in 2A

Any of these teams any good. Chester loses to Hardin Co and Lexington. Southside scores 27 points in a loss to Northside who only had 37. Doesn’t look promising

Male athletes are few It’s been a dry spell for awhile. I know there are freshmen who are playing baseball that played basketball and football in middle school but are only playing baseball this year. Without administrator support it is impossible to run a program. Not being able to hire assistants you want is a huge problem

You are correct and I’m sure that the high school coaches in Henderson county are thrilled that the system they have chosen is to be done with middle school basketball before Christmas break.

This has to be one of the dumbest things TSSAA has ever voted on. Some counties have multiple middle schools and multiple high schools and open enrollment. It would be open season on any talented 8th grader whether they were ready for high school competition or not. Dumb idea

The thing that will be interesting is if the physicality of ER bothers Middleton

4 team districts are crazy with all getting to advance. Teams with 2 wins advancing. Ridiculous No problem with 4 classes but the system has to be changed. You should at least have to win the district consolation game and 1 seeds get a bye. I’d also like to see the whole thing done the way Mississippi does it. Send the 2 or 3 losers of a district to completely different regions so they could all make it if they were good enough Travel would be more but the best teams would make it They also play girls and boys together over 2 weeks

Should be a great game. Defense will rule. Teams normally don’t shoot well their first game in the open arena so the defense that forces turnovers into layups will win

There is a better way. Rotate the substate winners every year. No west vs west, east vs East or middle vs Middle. Yes sometimes it will mean that the two best teams play each other in the first round but at least you will know who you might play before your substate game Preparation time currently for first round is limited
