Central’s two stars combined for 49 points but the rest of the team only had 14. York’s star had 33 and the rest combined for 33 point.

I’m watching it and Central is imposing their will. York is playing a lot of one on one ball which will not work
It should like York is doing a better job the second half and playing at their pace

Which plays right into York's strengths. Central is legit so this will be a battle!
Sounds like Centrals press is to much for York so far

It was an incredible season for the lady landers. Congratulations to Pickett. I think them and Wayne County will be a heck of a game Friday. We've got a lot of work to do between now and November. Replacing 3 senior starters is never easy but our chances of getting back here are still good. Especially with the passion of next year's junior class. It's terror time!
It’s always a good season if you make it to state, It should like you well have some good players coming back, I think you guys need to get out of upper east TN a play some better competition, play some tough holiday tournaments. It doesn’t matter if you go 10-10 in the regular season it will make them better come tournament time. Good luck to your girls next season.

The two best teams in the state are Coffee and Bradley. Bradley will crush coffee. Clarksville’s record was so misleading. Their district region and substate are pathetic. They played the weakest schedule in the state. The blind draw is what makes it fun. Clarksville drew a Green Hills team last year that was barely.500 and got sent packing. Bradley could probably beat the Lady Vols.
There’s always a few teams that make it every year with Misleading records in every class.

York really has two point guards I don’t think it would be a good idea to press them
Central will probably press most of the game, it’s one of the best I’ve seen.

Give me York against the field. They learned a hard lesson last year with a tough loss against westview. They play defense and the point guard is money. Teams traditionally don’t shoot the ball well first game in the glass house. Layups and foul shouts is where the difference will be.
That first round game should be a dandy. Dose York play a lot of teams that press the ball like Central?

I remember you saying that Alcoa would beat GP in regional play, and we even bet $100 on it. You can pay me next time I see you.
I said it would be interesting if they did and the games were at Alcoa so will give you half

It was only a couple of weeks ago you said Alcoa would beat Gatlinburg in the region finals Central beat Alcoa by a whole lot more Saturday than Gatlinburg did just a couple of days earlier. Central also did it with Bystry only playing about a half because of foul trouble. Central did it because of two young girls that haven't had to carry the team this year like the two best players. Central is a little deeper than you think when the need arises. Several girls on that team are capable of scoring and that was proven Saturday in the sectionals. Gatlinburg is very good. I still think it will come down to a Central-Gatlinburg matchup for the state championship but either team could also lose in the quarters or semis. Both of their coaches know all too well that you only focus om the next opponent.
Please show me where I said Alcoa would beat GP, I’ve said several times that Central has a really good team and they have a chance of winning it all, it’s just my opinion that GP has a better all around team with a deeper bench. But I will be pulling for Central to win it all.
-
After seeing Central and GP play I would have to give the age to GP. Central has the best two players but they are not very deep. GP has a better team and a dip bench and they have the best PG that I have seen this year, and I was told she didn’t play the first time those two played this season.

Interesting note! Fillies have beaten half the 3a tournament teams in the regular season. Southside, Dyersburg, Chester Co & South Gibson!
In the East Central and GP have beaten the top 3A teams, they would beat the east 1A teams by as much as they want. 1A in the East is as bad as I’ve ever seen.

I couldn’t make that trip but we were getting play by play by text. lol I have two daughters 4 years apart, I’m with my youngest tonight at GP, I’ve had 8 years of waiting my girls play, this year will make 7 out of 8 going to sub state with one trip to state, unfortunately we lost to the state champs a few times.
South Greene, Upperman a couple times, Macon.
if we were in 1A this year like years past we would go through region 2 easily, but GP and Central are just that good this year.
good luck tonight.

I’ve not seen Cloudland play but I have seen a few region 2 teams play and this game shouldn’t be close. Cloudland by 20+

Central will be will be pretty tough next year as well.
2024-2025
Reagan Baker Sr.
Karina Bystry Sr.
Maddie Kirkpatrick Jr.
Malea Masingale So.
McCary Beaty Sr.
They will go as far as Bystry takes them. Baker is a good player and Malea Masingale is solid but it’s a big drop off after that. This is their best chance to win it all.
-
If Cloudland is a contender they win by 25+ and I believe they will. NG should win by 15+ region two is simply not very good this year.

We play sunbright Saturday night who is an uptempo team. I wonder how Matt will approach this game as we play both styles of ball. Last night we decided to play NG at their own game with 2 minute possessions but I think we play with more flow in transition and our freshman is more dangerous when we run.
I’ve seen Midway play a couple times this year and all I can say is I’m REALLY impressed they beat Sunbright.

McMinn Central sure had a tough region finals opponent. Can they not find someone over there to give them a game? Lol
Not this year, we beat them like 8 games straight now they have beat us 12 straight. The games will be a lot closer next year but in IMO there best player is a junior.

Wow 10-4 at the half, someone take the lid off that thing lol

This is an opinion question that I have heard argued both ways....
If you have a coach that consistently wins 18-22 regular season games a year and consistently stays atop of their district standings but then they get put out every year either in the region quarter-finals or region-semi finals, are they considered a good coach?
1) Are they a good coach because they consistently stay competitive due to their regular season schedule and district record?
or
2) Are they a bad coach because they can never get over the hump and win the big games?
There’s a lot of bad districts and regions in the state so 18 wins is not very impressive. I judge coaches on being able to compete with equal teams and being able to come up with a game plan and getting an upset every now and then.

I’ll take Hampton big over Austin East, they are just bad. And I will take South Greene over Oneida comfortably. But both will lose big against GP and Alcoa.
in one A Cloudland and NG will be in the glass house, region 2 teams are way down.
Very surprised with those scores. Hampton gave up 65 points to a bad AE team but pulled out the win 65-77, and SG upset by Oneida.

But the truth is the bottom half is not competitive now so you haven’t lost anything.
I definitely think you are starting to see the effect of 4 classification, 1A in the east is way down, 3A looks to be somewhat down, 2A is loaded and 4A is good too. Good back to 3 classification.

Both Masengale and Bystry are matchup nightmares for any team. And Mayfield can also contribute big time if one of other two are double or triple teamed. There is just too much talent for most AA teams to defend. Their defensive pressure and press is hard for other teams to handle. It will come down to Central or Gatlinburg as to who wins gold. I hope they don't play each other in the first two rounds of state because they're easily the best two teams in AA.
I agree with almost everything you’ve saying except. Mayfield is monster on defense but she is nowhere near the other two on offense, she will give you a few points especially against good competition, I’ve seen her play since the 5th grade and I love watching her play.

Not many AA teams have the size that AAAA defending state champion Bradley Central does, yet Central took them to overtime this year. Central's depth hasn't been much of a problem this year. The girls are in better shape through conditioning than any team in AA. There have been very few times a contributing starter has fouled out. The AA champions this year will either be Central or Gatlinburg, no question about it. If Morgan can't win it this year he'll never win it again.
Agreed, this is the best Central team that I believe I have seen, someone will have to have good guard play to beat them.

A lot of games tonight will be non-competitive. However, there are a few across the state that should be solid. Here's a few I see that have the potential to be good games. What did I miss?
Tennessee @ Greeneville
Tellico Plains @ Sequatchie Co
Upperman @ Tullahoma
Brentwood @ Lincoln Co (I'm trying to figure out if I can make it to Lincoln for this one)
Houston Co @ Collinwood
South Gibson @ Fayette Ware
Houston @ Memphis East
Tellico is down this year but they should win that game handily, district 4AA is probably the worst in the state.

And think about this. McMinn lost to Bradley by 1 in OT at home and by 12 at Bradley.
