I watched that game on local TV. I think Greeneville ran only 2 plays that game. LOL! It was either Youngblood up the middle or a quick slant pass to one of the WR's. LOL! That's the 2 plays I remember Greeneville running mostly in the game vs Betsy. It worked the 1st half but not the 2nd half. Greeneville was up 21-7 at the half & didn't score a single point the 2nd half in losing 24-21. I think the calls were just like you said too predictable coming from Greeneville in that game. I have seen highlights of their games since & they still love those 2 plays. However, I think they know 2-3 plays on offense isn't going to win this game against AC. They better open it up or it's going to be a long night for the Greene Devils. Having said that I've predicted Greeneville to win 21-14 but this game could go either way.

Daniel Boone @ South-Doyle- Round 2
tonybologna replied to tonybologna's topic in Class 5A & Class 6A
Boone has played some tough opponents. I've seen them in person though. Brennan Blair who's filling in for injured star RB Charlie Cole is a faster & more shiftier RB. Cole is more of a punishing RB. Blair is a threat to take it the distance each time he touches the ball. However, Boone overall at all positions just doesn't have the athletes that South-Doyle has. Boone might be able to put up some points but their defense in my opinion can't stop South-Doyle enough to keep it too close. Boone might/could keep it close thru halftime but I would be surprised if Boone stays close the 2nd half. -
Powell & South Doyle are 2 teams I can think of right off the top of my head. In comparison, Greeneville has faced Powell & Elizabethton as their toughest games to date.
-
Boone has played over their heads just a bit. They lost their star RB Charlie Cole in the 1st game of this season but his replacement Brennan Blair has made that look like a negligible loss for the Trailblazers. South-Doyle has beaten some really good teams the 2nd half of the season. They blew out Gibbs earlier in the season 62-17. They beat a really good Knox Central team 38-10. They lost to Powell by 3 points 15-12 to end the regular season. They also beat a good Knox Halls team 49-21. I just don't see Boone being able to stay with the Cherokees. I say South-Doyle 42 Daniel Boone 21.

Knox Central gets revenge from their loss to Gibbs just a couple of weeks ago. My prediction is Knox Central 21 Gibbs 14. Should be a great game.

DB whipped Bearden earlier this season 39-14. This is a different Bearden team now though. They are playing so much better with so much more confidence too. DB has fallen off a bit towards the end of the season. However, DB has one of the top defenses in Class 6A. Bearden can compete with the Indians but I still feel like the DB defense will just be too much. I do think this go around that Bearden makes the game closer than 39-14. I will say DB 24 Bearden 17.

This is a rematch from just 3 weeks ago. Elizabethton slipped by South with a 14-13 win in very messy field conditions. It rained the entire game & I personally think that gave the advantage to South. A blocked extra point is the only thing that kept this game from going into OT. With good field conditions I see this one playing into Elizabethton's favor. I say this will be a totally different score outcome than the last time these 2 played each other. I'm picking Elizabethton 35-17.

I've got the Greene Devils in this one but it should be a close game. This isn't your typical Greeneville team of the past. They're still really good but not a juggernaut like the past few years. Anderson Co. certainly is capable of winning this game though. They have played some tough opponents. Probably a couple better teams than Greeneville has faced except for Elizabethton. Greeneville could have won that game against the Cyclones. They really should have too. This should be a very entertaining game for the fans to watch. I'm picking Greeneville but wouldn't be at all shocked if Anderson Co. pulls this one out. I say Greeneville 28 Anderson County 21.

South Greene @ Meigs County - Rd 2
tonybologna replied to MarsBlackmon's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
I've got Meigs Co. winning this one. South Greene is from my neck of the woods. I watched them defeat my high school alma mater in Sullivan North by a score of 22-0. I haven't see Meigs Co. play but have seen some highlights. South Greene certainly is a solid football team but I feel like Meigs Co. is in a different class than SG. They play in a tougher Region 2 Class 2A conference than SG plays in Region 1 Class 2A. Meigs County is also more experienced at being where they at right now compared to SG. I just don't personally see this one being close either. I don't think it will be a complete & utter blowout but Meigs Co. wins this one comfortably. I will say Meigs Co. 38 South Greene 15. -
Alcoa is 3A so that won't happen! LOL!

Hampton is really good but I wouldn't say you guys don't have a chance. Hampton's defense is just as good if not better than their offense. They have 5 shutouts this season & 4 of them have come in their past 4 straight games. Their only 2 losses came earlier in the season to Happy Valley & then GP. They have played lights out since the lost to GP. Oneida will have to play an A+ game. The Bulldog Den is a tough place to play as well. A rowdy bunch of fans & just a tough place for visiting teams to play.
-
My prediction of 56-6 wasn't far off guys! Just saying! I knew Greenback was just in a totally different league than Unaka.
-
Let me just say in advance Hampton is a totally different beast than my North Raiders alma mater. Hampton has a really good offense & defense. They have played really well the last 5-6 games of the season. I think their 1st Round 50-0 playoff victory tonight makes 4 of their last games 6 shutouts. I know at least they have 3 shutouts lately. Oneida will have to play their A+ game to come up to the Bulldog Den & beat the them. I've seen them play once this season. That game wasn't one of their best but they still won by 3 TD's.
-
Those stats are against very weak competition. Let me just say Unaka is terrible. If it wasn't for the 4 team rule for the playoffs they wouldn't have made it. They have 2 wins against 2 other bad teams. They really only played a couple of decent games all season long. Greenback should be up 28-0 after the 1st quarter unless something strange happens.
-
North is totally one dimensional. North throws the ball no more than 3-5 times a game. It's usually more towards the 3 passes per game mark. They run the same offensive plays every game. It's mostly off tackle or straight up the middle stuff. They will throw in some misdirection and/or counter plays but it's usually smashmouth football. Their QB Hartsock can throw the ball & that's what baffles me. We also have a couple of speedsters @ WR. However, Coach Patrick chooses not to pass the ball much at all. Hartsock QB isn't big but he has a decent arm.
-
I would be willing to bet that North is more predictable than Oneida though. LOL!
-
LOL! I'm predicting 33-16 Oneida. If North can play smart football in which they haven't so many times this season then North has a small chance at an upset. We're also just too predictable on offense too. Gimmick plays might help North stay in the game & if everything goes our way an upset can be pulled off but it's not likely in my opinion.

Is your son a senior or underclassmen? He has solid footwork for a nice sized kid. I think he looked better as a blocker but he was also good on the DL too.
-
No, I am actually going to the Dobyns Bennett-William Blount game since it's here locally being played in Kingsport. I will be keeping up with this game though while I'm there. Thanks for the invitation though. I don't want to watch my high school alma mater get whipped in the opening round of the playoffs either. LOL!
-
Yes sir it was. One of the craziest things I've witnessed in a high school baseball game for sure.
-
Not every single team but I did pick against Greenback a lot this past season in the postseason/state tournament. LOL!
-
I post sometimes on here but coaching basketball right now. I do post high school football scoring updates on Friday nights. My Middle school games are on Monday & Thursday each week except for tourney games. Yes, we did chat about Corey Russell. What was your username at Vol Nation? I still remember a lot of people from over there. Russell is playing @ Centre College now. Your son is a lineman right? I remember him Friday night. He is a solid blocker.
-
I don't post on there much anymore at all. Some of the members just got on my last nerve picking at everything I posted about the recruits. VolFreak & I still chat by email sometimes. He understood what I was taking on even though he gave me a couple of warnings. He now knows why I left for a long time before coming back to only post every once in a while now.

I don't know if I would call myself the baseball guru but I did coach high school baseball as an assistant for over 15 years. I'm currently a Middle School coach in both baseball & basketball.

Yes sir I sure am.
