I see spelling is not a strong suit in Huntingdung…

I tried hard to spell it. If you had as many concussions as I've had you would have a hard time also. When I played concussion protocol was if you could remember the plays you went back in!

McKenzie hasn’t had any trouble with any of them except S Pitt.

First smart thing Milan has done in years. Great coach but I don't know if he's enough of a disaplinarion as Milan needs right now. Things pretty rough in Milan these days!

Huntingdon is loaded this season.  They only lost one player and have 4 that will be going on to play college softball after this season.

I worry about the Fillies schedule this season. We play some quality teams but will only play about 20 games, probably less with rain outs. To me that's not enough games to get into postseason condition. Hope it don't bite us!

I imagine playing your sons is not easy especially for Mrs. Wilkins. Got grandbabies in their lap where their dad's and her son's coaching a different team than your husband. Has TSSAA ever had a father son coaching against each other at state?? I do think any AA team can win it. Top bracket is tough as we know. Bottom is not a cakewalk either. We ran into East Nashville in Murfreesboro this summer and they were a very good team. So Smith County has got to be tough. We know GP is tough. Loretto is always dangerous with their length and always well coached and battle tested. Westview is the back to back state champions and these girls shoot better at the Glass House than they do at home it seems. So you never know what will happen up there. I kinda expect some of the games will probably be like the USJ games in the private sector with a lot of defense. I do congratulate and wish all teams good luck. I do feel very blessed to be there and am very thankful we are there for sure.

Coach David told me that as many times as Dad has whipped his butt as a kid it's time for a payback!

If Crawford gets healthy, Dyersburg is a threat to win the gold ball. Without her, they will still get there but won’t win the whole thing.

Lady Trojans looked pretty good last night without her. Their whole squad is so athletic. Most talented team I've seen all year. Crawford's absence is just allowing the supporting cast to shine. Kinda hard to believe my Fillies beat this squad by 19 at home. Fillies can play pretty good at times!

Just seen the game. Both teams are real good Jr. High Teams. South Gibson won by 1 point. Both teams have players that will help their High Schools sooner rather than later. South Gibson has four girls that will definitely be on the floor next year probably a bunch. Great game as both teams has lots of talent.

Gotta brag on my Huntingdon Middle School girls. Lost their 1st game against Watertown in Murfreesboro this week. Very talented team that goes 10 deep with quality prospects. Coach Wilkins has enough talent coming at him to make him a legend.

My take (that nobody asked for) on several West TN teams:

Huntingdon is good and sometimes really good.  When their guard play is good, they are really tough to beat but their guard play is not always good.

Dyersburg is really talented but is missing something.  Talented enough to win a gold ball, but wouldn't be shocked if they got upset in a region semifinal game.

South Gibson, Crockett County, Obion County and Dyer County are all average to above average.  Any of those teams could finish second in that district.  I expect them to beat each other up in district play, district tournament and region tournament.

Gibson County goes as far as Micah Hart takes them.  They have a couple decent pieces around her but nothing close to what Cantrell was for Micah last year.

Westview losing their PG is a big deal.  They probably still make the state tournament, but the Peabody matchup for them just got really interesting.

Peabody is a scary matchup, especially for Westview.

McKenzie has one great player, one good player and not much else.  Those two players might be enough to carry them to a state tournament.

South Side is dangerous.  They'll keep getting better and their defense will keep them in every game.  I know they lost to Chester County recently, but I'd still put my money on South Side in that district.

USJ could win the D2-A state tournament.  Haylen Ayers is the real deal and they have a couple solid pieces around her.  With no dominant team in their division, that might be enough.

Fillies guard play is improving. Our guards are mostly 2 or 3 year starters and are starting to play like it. Fillies are undefeated against 2a competition. Girls are playing fast and focused at this point of the season.

They handled Dyersburg twice pretty easy

They will get to see the undefeated young Fillies squad in the Blue Suede tourney in January.  Should be a good measuring stick for both teams. Fillies are loaded and deep. Their 2nd team can play with anybody.

Dyersburg and Huntingdung just played a good one. Dburg girls pull out the 63-59 win to move to 8-0.

All those toothless wonders from Huntingdon play a pretty good game of basketball.

A lot of missed fouls on both teams

What upsets me the most is the way refs let teams attack the player  that's controlling the ball. For example when o player comes down with a rebound with clear possession any player that reaches in and touches a arm it should be a foul. All these tied up situations really hurt the flow of the game. Most refs now just don't understand the game!

I can only speak to this season and their unwillingness to put Dyersburg on the schedule. And that was a huge win for the Lady Hornets! Thank you, also, for the kind words about your visit to Dyersburg tonight. We are proud of our facilities as well as game day experience for home fans as well as guests. Looking forward to visiting Huntingdon in a few weeks.

We need to consider putting putting shoulder and hip pads on our players. Fillies got mugged all night and that useless bunch of officials did nothing to control things.

I just can't pick my stangs to be the favorite to make it to state next year. Region champs? Sure, that is very possible, but until this coaching staff can show me that they can make the necessary adjustments when they are needed, I'm going to have to go with someone else. I would much rather eat my crow than to continue to look like a fool claiming us as the favorites every year just to underperform in the playoffs year after year. We had the horse's in the stable, but still couldn't get it done.

The tough Mustang schedule I think hurts us late in the season. Playing a super tough region schedule plus non region games against Mckenzie, Crockett Co and a pretty talented Columbia Academy has us beat up. Huntingdon is a very physical team and the schedule takes its toll. Most fans don't know that our QB played with a torn meniscus against Riverside, was not close to 100%. No excuses its the kind of schedule we like to play. It is what it is!

I wasn’t talking about you dummy. I don’t hate Huntingdon football but I don’t like the majority of the Huntingdon posters on here. Go cuss a Huntingdon football player old man.

im sorry riverside I won’t reply to anymore junk

You better be careful, I had a cortisone shot Friday morning!

He wasn't responding to you Croppy...there was one H'town poster that had some brash words that's not come out of his foxhole yet. I think maybe (I hope) that the term "lay down" was loosely used to mean not their best performance, because I was there and not one kid quit giving it everything he had.

For what it's worth, I don't know what you could have done on defense that would have been game changing. Hard to deal with physically being pushed off the line. On offense it looked to me like your Mustangs could pass the ball...there were several completions for some decent yardage in situations where you had to have it, so why not soften up the Panther front throwing the ball in order to run it? Water under the bridge anyway.

I was worried all week after watching a couple of practices. The intensity just wasn't there. We were so hyped up for the Milan game. It's just hard to be on top of your game every week with the schedule we've played. But to win a was championship you've got to survive those games. We played a much more physical schedule than the Panthers and it caught up with us. We were banged up. Our QB wasn't even close to 100%. Riverside was the better team Friday night. Got a lot of respect for that program. Hope yall win it all. Mustangs will be back next year. Losing a lot of great players but returning a bunch of good ones to. We'll reload and will be hard to handle in 2024.

He has threatened people on here before….

I have never threatened anyone on this board. I can't help if your threatened by me. Unreal the Huntingdon hate on this board. Posters saying the Mustangs laid down. I've been watching Huntingdon for over 60 years and I've never seen a Mustang team lay down. Nothing worse in the world than jealousy.  I sometimes wonder how many of you haters played the game because you don't know nothing!

South Gibson is a pretty good team but needs more reps on the floor like many other teams. The post they got is the sister of the one that tore her ACL this summer. She skipped her 8th grade year and they have two others that are starting that came off the bench last year. They have some three point shooters and will be good if they can get looks. Question is can they create their own shot or beat someone off the dribble and kick out to open shooters?? Peabody's defense obviously matched up well. How good are other teams in their District like Obion and maybe Dyer County?? They will be Ok but I would think South Gibson probably better. We know Dyersburg could be number 1 in the state. Jr. High for South Gibson is very good so they have a bright future.

Fillies coming to South Gibson Tuesday night. Huntingdon looked good against Chester Co last night. Should be a good one.

  17. Congratulations to the Panthers on their win at Huntingdon. I've always said that it takes a very athletic, fast defensive front to stop the Mustang rushing attack and Riverside has just that. Panther fans really showed up. Huntingdon, Riverside crowds have been like the old Huntingdon Milan crowds. Got a lot of respect for this program and hope you win it all.

Hoping you were going to pick Riverside. You've been wrong on every Huntingdon prediction this season!

  19. Thought the Bulldogs played hard the whole game against the Mustangs. No give up on their part. Dogs seemed to come out ready to make a comeback to begin the 2nd half but that 8 min scoring drive dashed any hope they had. I expected the Mustangs to run straight at Milam but they attacked the edge all night with a lot of success. Dogs shouldn't hang their heads on this loss. They got beat by an outstanding Huntingdon team.

Martin isn’t in the Weakley county conference

Shame we don't play. You would love watching these young ladies. This kind of talent doesn't come around very often. Our 1st team vs our 2nd team is a close game. 6th grade is loaded also. Got a little 6th grade point that's going to be special.
