  1. The Central and Meigs girls schedules already have a W printed next to their games against McMinn Co.
  2. That remains to be seen. They're good but we don't know how good because they haven't been tested by a good team yet. Maryville owns the district until someone challenges them. Playing at Bradley Central will be tough. Those are McMinn's last two games of the season.
  3. Central played as well as they could. Meigs was their own worst enemy all night with a lot of penalties to overcome. Meadows is quick and strong. Smith terrorized Central's backfield. Meigs effectively ran the same 3-4 plays all night and used a lot of players. I think Fitzgerald's plan was just to win and play a lot of guys. They could have passed for a lot of yards but seemed to want to keep the offense very vanilla. Maybe he didn't want to show South Pitt much. I still don't think they have the same swagger as they did with Swafford, but they're still a force.
  4. Some Central fans I talked to this morning in Etowah said Meigs isn't that good. They thought Central had found their offense and will score plenty on Meigs.
  5. Sorry, I thought you were a CG fan. I see now you're a Cosby fan.
  6. Definitely a bad location for similar size schools to play, though It is in a beautiful area. What size school is Claiborne County High?
  7. With a username of TigerNation and a picture of an orange/black Tiger, I'd have never known, I didn't like the hire but I've given Davis a fair chance to show us something positive.
  8. Well, Davis has a good young team with a solid senior running back in this, his second season. We'll see how successful he is with that situation at the end of the season.
  9. A quick mapquest check says the closest route is 2 hours and 15 minutes of travel. Being they're traveling by bus I'd say it's closer to a 2 hour and 30 minute drive, and that's assuming there's no traffic issues on I-75 going through Knoxville - haha. Regions 1, 2, and 3 all have 5 teams so maybe that was the TSSAA's reasoning?
  10. I still think having a team of Seniors, versus a team of freshman and young talent, is better in a rebuilding process. Both programs had a losing culture, so the question is who did better in changing the culture with Spring and Fall practices and scrimmages. It's pretty obvious which coach was more successful in doing that. As a comparison, look how both teams compared in playing your team, Meigs County. Sweetwater gave Meigs a great game right out of the gate. Central was blown out by Meigs later in the season. Coaching played a huge role in the results of both coach's first season.
  11. How was Martin's cupboard stocked better than Davis' if Central had a ton of Seniors? Both programs had players that hadn't been successful, so isn't that even ground in rebuilding? Wouldn't having more Seniors be a benefit in the rebuilding effort?
  12. RE: Meigs vs Cumberland Gap. How did the TSSAA come up with a Region game for two teams so far apart? If the answer is because it's the TSSAA, that's acceptable.
  13. Having all of those studs sure isn't helping them much.
  14. I'm not offended so no need for you to apologize. So far I'm just not impressed with Davis. Having the ball at midfield against Tellico with over a minute to go in the game isn't the time to raise the white flag even if you're down 13-0. As long as you have a chance, you fight to the finish. Sweetwater's failure to cash in a couple of times against Meigs, with several Meigs's starters out, is what I'm basing my opinion on about Sweetwater's offense. I know Meigs defense is good, and since you were there you have a better opinion of Sweetwater than I do. Did the Smith kid (linebacker) have a good game against Greenback? I heard he'd missed the game against Sweetwater so I figured he was anxious to get out there and hit somebody? lol How are the Meigs Middle School and JV teams doing? I've not kept up with much this season.
  15. It's early in the season but it looks like another showdown between Red Bank and Loudon.
  16. I know this is debatable, but I don't think Central's defense is that bad, and I don't think Sweetwater's offense is that good. I think Sweetwater will win. The question is whether Central can score their first points of 2020 in this game? Martin and Davis both took over dead programs last year, and Martin has proven he's better at rebuilding a program better and faster.
  17. I remember Greeneville fans complaining about Hammonds, saying the new coach would be a big improvement.
  18. Ball at midfield with over a minute to go and Davis runs the clock out??? Not a good message from Coach Davis in his second year having his players see him quit.
  19. I think that's more of a scare tactic by your AD. How can the TSSAA monitor it if they're not there at every sport? I don't think the TSSAA will shut it down as long as schools are open, and positive cases don't grow exponentially.
  20. Bradley may not even finish 2nd in the region.
  21. Meigs is catching Greenback at a bad time after Greenback's humiliating loss to Loudon, and the game is at Greenback. I wouldn't consider it an upset if Greenback wins.
  22. I just talked to a friend of mine who has a grandson playing on Sequoyah's Middle school team. Meigs beat them 36-0.
