  1. Copper Basin had one home & one away cancelled by the opponents. CB then had to cancel one home @ one away game. All were due to COVID-19 protocol.
  2. This entire season has been a venture into uncharted waters. Each week has presented challenges never previously encountered. As it has turned out Copper Basin had a two week “break” they didn’t want. We can only hope & pray the season will be able to play out.
  3. I am indeed his father-in-law and, obviously, grandfather to Bryson Grabowski. However, what you don’t know is that I am not one who blindly supports people or positions. I do my best to evaluate situations and issues to determine what in my evaluation is the truth. My degree is in “old school journalism” which means I search for the who, what, when, where and how and leave the “why” to the editorial section. I want the true facts and let the informed decide right from wrong. Today’s “journalists” prefer to tell what they think & expect you to go along with their position Additionally, I am a retired basketball game official. My reputation in FL and in Southern California was “ I called the play in accordance with the rules of the game, regardless of who was playing.” Vic Bubus, former commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference, hired me as the Supervisor of the Sun Belt Basketball Officials back in the early 1980’s because my approach to issues was based on facts, not on conjecture What I DO NOT do is comment on something about which I don’t KNOW the facts. When I say Coach doesn’t have a hidden agenda, THAT, sir, is a fact. I know the man. So, if you are intimating my assessment on Coach Grabowski is based on whims and feelings not the facts, you, sir, are sadly mistaken.
  4. The HC @ CB does NOT have a hidden agenda, nor is he afraid to see play anyone! He doesn’t want to back into anything. He proved that at Red Bank.
  5. Due to a Walton player testing positive for COVID-19, this game has been called off.
  6. So, the current Whitwell QB participated in the last OD All-American Bowl in New Orleans in his junior year. TSSAA rules say, in Section 23, unless the all star game is sanctioned by the TSSAA the player is to be ruled ineligible. How does he get to play out his senior year & take the team to the playoffs? Does the TSSAA sanction that all-star bowl?
  7. Nope. Didn’t overnight anywhere. Only lives 1.5 hours away.
  8. Just a small correction, Booger. Coach G didn’t spend a night at the Blue Ridge Lodge, ever.
  9. Now that it’s official Coach G is moving forward, let’s get a couple of things straight. First and foremost, Coach G did NOT do this to himself! It was done to him! Fortunately, the chief engineer of the coup had his master plan thwarted by failing to secure the RB head coach position for himself. Second, for the pundits who offered their conjecture as “facts”, he had not been making applications at any other schools. Coach G’s plans were to remain at RB until his retirement - a long time from now. Third, his son had not been saying, suggesting nor inferring to anyone his dad wanted to find another position. Fourth, anyone who thinks Coach G isn’t a good coach, let’s review some facts. When he arrived at RB, the seniors who were on his first team in 2014 had played under 2 previous head coaches making him their third HC in 4 years. The Lions qualified for the playoffs all 4 years he was there. They won back-to-back Region Championships the last two years 2016 & 2017. This past season ended on the field in Alcoa, TN in the Semifinal game to the eventual & perineal State Champ. In her written message to the media, RB’s principal stated Coach Grabowski had NOT violated any legal or policy standards. Rather, it was her decision to “move in a different direction.” The people who perpetrated this move totally ignored the wishes of the players and the vast majority of parents. In fact, the RB athletic director was completely blindsided by the termination of Coach Grabowski. For those who think he’s not a good coach, please. Let’s see your resume so we can compare & contrast. Let’s all understand this move by a small group is a total miscarriage of justice. Wonder how well the Lions will fare under the new regime? BTW, the new RB HC was not part & parcel to these events. I wish him, Chris Brown, well in his first HC position. RB’s loss is indeed Copper Basin’s gain!
  10. It is official! Chad Grabowski has been named as the head football coach at Copper Basin Chad is excited about taking the helm of the Cougar program. Check out the article in today’s edition of The Times Free Press.
