  1. Yes I said multiple times Johnson is good and Cosby is much better at home. I hope they make it to the region championship against NG. The German for NG is right up there as good as Johnson but has better help from his teammates, which is the difference between the two teams. Cosby will have to beat Unaka first. They have one of the best coaches around and one kid who could go off for 30+ Any night. They’ll be just as good if not better than Hancock so that game should provide good info. If Cosby’s post can play to his ability more consistently then they’ll be a much tougher out.
  2. The worst district in the state of Tennessee...not saying they can’t make a run, but it’s going to take a much better effort against anyone from district 1. Hancock would finish last in that district easily , NG beat them by 40 early in the year. When everyone stops Johnson someone is going to have to step up and score. From the games I’ve seen I haven’t seen anyone capable of doing that against quality opponents. Cosby has played a tough out of conference schedule but they haven’t beaten any quality teams....once again, they could make a run especially being at home but they’ll have to play much better than a 9 point win over an 11-8 Hancock team with zero wins over anyone relevant.
  3. Cosby beat a bad Hancock team at home by 9. It would not surprise me if Cosby lost early on in the region. They play in the worst conference in the state of Tennessee for single A basketball. Johnson is really good but their other players are not good enough to beat quality teams.
  4. NG wins the district championship. They’ll be at home the whole time for the region. Hampton will likely be at Cosby for round 2 in a elimination game. Winner of that game will be back at the den for the region championship with a chance to host substate.
  5. seen on another post that their all-state PG did not play in the districts but is expected back for the region game....not sure how accurate that is but just figured I would pass it along.
  6. I agree, have played at Cosby and Hancock. It does not matter if you are better or not when you go to those places. I see Cosby and Hampton meeting in the Region Semifinals and NG playing possibly Hancock in the other. Hampton at Cosby would be a really good game to watch.
  7. Semifinals Unaka @ NG S North @ Hampton My guess is Hampton and NG in the finals. Cosby v Hancock is the other region finals. Winning district 1 tourney is huge to stay away from Cosby and playing at Home
  8. According to Twitter, Tyrus Ward will be the new coach at Tyner.
  9. Agreed, they are typically strong in baseball, softball, soccer, and boys basketball. Their girls team is one of the worst I have ever seen. Strange how that is
  10. Have wondered that myself. As many kids as they get from Science Hill, they could have a pretty good team. Facilities are top notch and would definitely be an attractive situation.
  11. Boys and girls both did....will take a bad night for both teams in order to lose at home.
  12. Haven’t heard but assuming it’ll be one of the boys coaches from South, north or central for the first year. May be wrong though
  13. Football stadium does as well, not sure what they are thinking lol
  14. No upset on roan mtn, NG wins by 38. Looked really good from start to finish.
  15. In the east it looks like, North Greene , Cosby, Hampton and Oneida will be the top teams. But who knows with covid and tournaments coming up.
  16. Off topic but anyone have any idea who might apply for the West Ridge boys job?
  17. Per Stephen Hargis “Dalton (Ga.) High has called an afternoon press conference for today where they are expected to promote longtime assistant & defensive coordinator Kit Carpenter to HC. South Pittsburg’s Vic Grider was the other finalist but was told yesterday he was not the choice. ”
  18. Agree, love Coach Dugger at Unaka. Always gets the most out of his guys.
  19. If Hampton beats NG, and they both have one loss, does that turn to a coin flip?
  20. Chriss Schults , North Greene High School, Single A. Averaging 25 ppg and 13 Reb
  21. Agreed. My three in the region will be NG , Hampton, Cosby. Feel like the fourth is wide open.
  22. NG beat UH tonight by about 10. The German went for 33 and Meredith had 43 out of 54 points. Maybe the tourney will be more competitive than imagined.
  23. Unaka beat UH tonight so it looks like it’s going to be NG and Hampton
  24. Only one I see is possibly Cloudland at Cloudland. They played NG tough for a while and if NG has an off shooting night on Roan MTN anything is possible. UH is still unknown, of course with Meredith who knows lol looking like Cosby and Oneida will be the teams to look for in the other regions. NG at Hampton is going to be very intriguing, I’d say If NG wins that then they’ll be hosting the district and likely region tourney at the Den.
