The point is: you rank Monterey coach at 5th when, besides Clay County, there's no one else being debated. Monterey won 2 out of 3 games this season against Clay and won the Regional Championship against Clay. 2 years ago Monterey was in the State semi-final and was in sectional last year. Both teams are going to sectionals again this year. Debating Monterey Coach as 1 or 2 would seem more reasonable.

Monterey in the last 3 years has won 1 District Championship, 2 Regional Championships and made it to the State Semifinals. Clay County is the next closest with 2 District Championships, 1 Regional Championship and a visit to the State Quarterfinals. No other team in the District or Region has come close in post season play. I respect all the coaches that invest their time into players and programs and don't want to down any of them. But I have to say, players are wanting to go play for Coach West.

Monterey graduated their starting 5 last year. I believe they have 1 senior this year and are going into the 2nd round of District with a 24-7 record. They're not a middle of the road team. I thought RBS would go further, but their record belies a weak schedule early in the season. Clay is beatable, but they have a sturdy balance in their seniors. They'll be tough to catch.
