  1. my guess is that up to half of those squads would be made up of the higher level hs players.
  2. Summer league is run by the men's club. The league consists of high school players through post collegiate (several of us very post collegiate). The organization is looking to expand to a more regional approach, i.e sending 20 man squads to Asheville, Atlanta, Nashville for informal games.
  3. We will be starting up on May 27th at Farragut Middle. Tentative plan is to play games on Sunday nights at Safety City. These are the "real" games, referees, selected teams, etc. Pick up games will be played Wednesday nights at Farragut. USLacrosse registration is required. More info can obtained by joining the facebook group 'Knoxville Summer Lacrosse' or by joining the mailing list. To join the mailing list, send an email to stlist@knoxvillelacrosse.com. in the body(not topic) of the email, write 'subscribe summer lax'

    FINAL 4

Have the game times been finalized? Where and when are the D1 and D2 games for saturday and sunday?
  5. #20 is a good ball player. #4 is good as well. they need depth and to get rid of that half man/half zone they play. their coach does a good job making sure the kids play with class under some difficult circumstances. they have potential.

    Farragut

Congrats to Farragut for their first win over MBA in program history and for hosting their first ever home playoff game.
  7. The Vols finished up their season this past weekend with a great 4th quarter comeback win over NC State and a respectable loss to the #6 team in the country in FSU. If anyone has an interest in playing for the Vols, the coaches will be out at various high school games for the rest of the spring season. CK
  8. Vols cruise past MTSU 21-7 and Miami (OH) 12-7. Patrick Stewart (MUS), Chris McDonald (Houston), Jack Cleary (Centennial) all had good weekends at attack. Matt Cooper (Brentwood), Patrick Hudson (Centennial), John Ellis Porter (Franklin), Andy Van Grinsven (Brentwood), Andrew Slemp (Franklin), Chris White (Father Ryan) and Kevin Coll (Ravenwood) played well in the midfield. Sterling Perkins (Ravenwood), Justin Estrada (Centennial) and Chris Bates (West Knox) at defense and David Catterton (Brentwood) in the goal played well as well.
  9. Tennessee too much for Demon Decons of Wake Forest - Feb 8, 2009 The University of Tennessee Men's Lacrosse team moved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing victory over Wake Forest University on Sunday afternoon in Knoxville. Tennessee came out firing and took a commanding 5-1 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The scoring was evenly distributed between Chris McDonald, Kyle Bird, John Porter, Patrick Steward and Jack Cleary. Wake Forest scored their first goal at the 5:55 mark to cut the lead to 2-1 before UT scored 3 goals in the next 2 minutes. Tennessee struck first in the 2nd quarter when Chris White scored at the 8:21 mark quickly followed by Jack Cleary with 6:26 left to push UT to a commanding 7-1 lead before Wake scored its second goal with 5:13 remaining in the 2nd. Jack Cleary netted his 3rd goal of the day at the 4:04 mark to give UT an 8-2 lead at half. Tennessee struck first in the 3rd quarter as Chris McDonald scored his 2nd goal of the game at the 13:14 mark in the 3rd. The scoring slowed over the next 11 minutes as both teams had a difficult time finding the back of the net. Kyle Bird was able to find the back of the net for his 2nd goal of the game with 2:53 remaining in the 3rd to push the Tennessee lead to 10-2 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 10-2 advantage allowed the Volunteers to rest the first attack and defensive units in the 4th quarter. The second attack and defensive groups have worked very hard in practice and they have improved a great deal over the past month. Wake Forest was able to score three fourth quarter goals but the Volunteers answered the call with three goals of their own. Patrick Steward scored with 8:40 left for his 2nd of the game on top of 2 assist, Chris McDonald netted his 3rd goal of the game with 5:25 left, and Kevin O'Neill scored on an EMO possession with 11 seconds left in the 4th to bring the final score to 13-5 for the Volunteers. Wake Forest and UT were very evenly matched at the face off X. Wake Forest held the advantage winning 9 of 17 faceoffs with the Volunteers winning 8-17. Freshmen goalies Dave Catterton and Jordan Blazer both had exceptional half's in the game. The defensive groups played very well but when they were pushed both goalies stepped up to make some very big saves in the game.
  10. PLease take a moment and fill out some recruiting info at www.volslax.ialax.com
  11. The University of Tennessee began its season this past saturday with a preseaon "scrimmage" against the ninth ranked DII team in the county, Mars Hill. The Vols hung tough, falling 11-5. The season continues on Friday night with an 8pm tilt vs SELC Central Division foe Kentucky. Sunday has the Vols playing Wake Forest. This year's squad is dominated by an influx of players from the high school ranks from here in Tennessee. Players from MUS, Houston, Brentwood, Franklin, and Father Ryan to name a few. Tennessee relies heavily on in-state players. The coaches at UT would like to get out to see any high school players who might be considering playing lax for UT. Please post on this thread and we will make an attempt to meet with as many of you as possible. We have a long standing tradition of success, fueled by in-state players. 12. if after 4 years of playing for me, you still can't spell my name correctly, it must be brett. blake would get it right. and offensive middies are always needed.
  13. The Tennessee Men's Lacrosse team has a two week break before we gear back up for the stretch run after spring break. This will allow the coaches to get out a see some high school games. If you are interested in possibly playing for UT, please post to let us know who you are. We would need to know game time and location, your name, jersey number and position. If we can make to it your game, we won't be hard to spot. chris kelley asst. coach
