  1. Tyner did play their best game of the year but Rhea helped with some early turnovers that gave Tyner momentum. It was only 20-14 Tyner at half but the Rams scored on 4 straight possessions in the second half and did a pretty good job all night of controlling Rhea County's run game. Scores against common opponents - it certainly looks like Meigs is 3 TDs better than Tyner but I sure would have thought the Tigers would have been 3 or 4 TDs better than Polk County too. The most likely scenario has Meigs 1 and Tyner 3 and if the Rams could pull a win at Sequatchie in Week 1 of the playoffs they will be right back at Meigs for a rematch only two weeks after the first game. Might get interesting.
  2. If Chatt Central somehow beats McMinn Central and Tyner upsets Meigs (I know both are a stretch) - Tyner would be the one seed. So Meigs doesn't officially have the one locked up. Loss by the Chargers to the Pounders would be their second region loss and Tyner/Meigs if each had one loss would go to head to head. Not likely but it is possible.
  3. Congrats to former Tyner Offensive Coordinator Christian Mainor on being named the new head coach at Tyner. He is young but he was a key part of the success the Rams experienced this year. I think this was a smart move by the AD and Principal to keep some stability.
  4. Look for the OC - Christian Mainor, not the DC to be the next coach. Mainor is a teacher, in the building etc. Great young coach. The young defensive coach going to Cleveland is really good, but not a certified teacher or some of things you need for a job like this.
  5. Tyner kids that signed: QB Josh Jackson to Southeast Missouri State DB Rayshaun Hinton and RB Markel McKinley to Cumberlands(KY) DL Jamarion Varnell to UVA-Wise DL/OL Jonah Chapman - Carson Newman WR/LB/Safety Trae Ruffin - Bethel College(McKenzie) Middle LB Jersey Chubb undecided at this point - Probably Carson Newman DB/WR Marcus Lewis and WR/RB Jarius Cameron may still have opportunities Congrats to this wonderful senior class that brought state championship to Tyner and at least 7 will sign to play college football.
  6. Gameday and I am thankful to have one more chance to watch the 2022 Tyner Rams play football. They are a talented, senior led group that has been well coached and works hard to prepare for every game. Coach Chandler and his staff have done an amazing job weekly prepping the team. The coaches love the players and the players love one another and the brotherhood built is something that will last them all a lifetime. The defense this year has given up 100 points in 14 games - 7 points a game. Against 2A competition they have only allowed 45 points in 9 games with 5 of the 9 being shut outs. One touchdown each in the playoffs by Westmoreland and Trousdale were scored against the defensive backups during running clock time at the end of games so the starting rotation has allowed only 31 points in 9 2A games. Pretty impressive to me. I am guessing that Riverside will have to score as many points against the Rams starters today as they have given up all year against 2A competition to beat them. The offense has been equally impressive scoring 538 points in 14 games (around 38/game) Similar point average against the 2A teams in those 9 games. Mr. Football finalist, QB Josh Jackson has thrown for over 3200 yards and 38 touchdowns - with most of this being in the first half of games. A deep and athletic group of receivers and backs have proven to be a threat to score on almost any play. Regardless of some folks trying to denigrate the team and their competition- the 2022 Rams have frankly been dominant statistically this year and I think they have a great chance to win a gold ball today in the state championship. Whether they finish the mission or not - they are incredible young men that are well coached. Go Rams - let's finish this thing!!!
  7. The beat down Fayetteville put on 4A semi finalist Red Bank proves clearly that at least McKenzie and Fayetteville are a couple of the best teams in the state regardless of classification in my view. What a loaded group of 1A teams out west this year. If your group of 2A teams that Riverside emerged from are as good as McKenzie and Fayetteville, then Tyner will be in a real dog fight. Most of us Tyner fans thought that Union City would make the run because it seems every time we make the finals - they are the opponent we face. How do folks who know West TN football see Riverside matching up against Fayetteville or McKenzie? Just curious?
  8. Congrats to Decatur Riverside for avenging two earlier losses. Clearly the Panthers have earned their way to the Championship game with solid play on both sides of the ball. Total scores for both teams in the 14 games - Riverside has outscored the Rams 540-538. Tyner has been stingier on the defensive side allowing only 100 points while Riverside has given up 274. It is hard to know who has played the tougher schedule though I think it is clear that Riverside hasn't played anyone near as good as Alcoa who gave the Rams their only loss. Many people feel that both 1A and 2A football is better in West TN than it is in the East. It is very likely Riverside will be the best 2A team Tyner has seen this year - possibly by a lot. Likewise, I doubt Riverside has played a team as athletic as Tyner. Can Tyner's defense contain the combination of a tough nosed running back in #25 and an athletic QB in #11? It appears that Riverside has more of a passing threat than most of the playoff teams Tyner has played so far along with a strong ground attack. Will Riverside be able to slow down what has been a lethal combination of Ram playmakers on the outside - #3, #11, #6 (and others) and a solid ground game with #10 carrying the load for the Rams? QB #9 has mostly had time all year to find and hit the open receivers but Riverside looks to have a really solid d line and pass rush. Turnovers often tell the tale as well as how good of a defensive and offensive game plan the coaching staffs can put together. The Rams are loaded with Seniors who have been extremely focused and have stayed confident without getting cocky and overlooking their competition. I am really excited about the opportunity Tyner has in front of them and like their chances to pull out a victory. Go Rams!!!
  9. 1-0 in the new season. Congrats to Trousdale for keeping the playoff streak alive. Tyner is thankful to get over that hump of getting knocked out by the Jackets 4 years in a row. Rams had a really nice third quarter to get separation. Coach Chandler and his staff do a good job of making adjustments. Westmoreland will come to Tyner next Friday. Need a great week of preparation and the focus and intensity like we had in the 3rd quarter. Go Rams!
  10. Good luck, sir, to Hampton on your playoff run starting tomorrow. I hope that Tyner can play their best football in the next three weeks and that we are fortunate enough to host the Bulldogs the Friday after Thanksgiving. I admired how hard your team played in the championship game last year and would love to see how we might stack up against you down the road.
  11. In 2A there were 2 semi finalists from West TN - Westview, Fairley, 2 Middle TN - East Rob, Monterey, 1 from East TN - Tyner In 1A 3 semi finalists from West TN - McKenzie, MASE, Peabody, 1 from Middle - Fayetteville, 1 East - South Pitt. I don't see the East TN voter bias in lower classifications but maybe just me...
  12. Hey Yeti - I am back on the T in the last few weeks. Can't help myself I guess and this has been a fun year to cheer for the Ram Train. Got some tough news that TynerRamFan lost a valiant battle with cancer a month or so back. He was a good man and was always a positive and respectful voice for Tyner on Coach T boards. He was a man of deep faith so we believe he is in heaven now and suffering no more. Your Tigers fought us as hard as anyone has Friday. That bad snap really derailed your best drive and I think the 94 yard drive at the end of the half sealed the deal. Good luck in two weeks against Marion and maybe we will see you again in the playoffs.
  13. Bledsoe and Meigs seem very close to me - I like seeing gamers-difference makers and I think #22 for Bledsoe is the best region player I have seen that wasn't wearing Tyner colors. Condra could have been that for Marion if he hadn't gotten hurt. Meigs and Bledsoe both tackled and blocked better than Polk and Marion at least against us which is why I think they win in week 10. I will never buy the region 4 teams are down talk - too many times in the playoffs they have taken all of region 3 out. We will expect to get everyone's best shot starting with round 1 against Harpeth or Trousdale should they upset Watertown. Been a fun year so far to be a Ram fan.
  14. A few fun facts on the 4 team race for 3 spots in Region 3: Every team could lose and still make the playoffs, every team could win and not secure 2nd seed and 1st round home game and all 4 could be the one left out depending on how the games turn out, all four could finish 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or out. Scenarios in order of highest probability IMO 1. Bledsoe wins, Meigs wins - Bledsoe- 2, Meigs-3 Polk-4 Marion out 2. Bledsoe wins, Marion wins - Marion-2, Bledsoe-3 Meigs-4 Polk out 3. Polk wins, Meigs wins - Meigs-2, Polk-3, Marion-4 - Bledsoe out 4. Polk wins, Marion wins - Polk-2, Marion-3, Bledsoe-4 Meigs out Pretty crazy scenarios with all having lost to Tyner and beaten one of the others already.
  15. Polk threw a wrench in the region 3 standings - didn't see them beating Marion Co. Tyner and East Robertson are Region Champs. If Meigs beats Marion, the Warriors won't make the playoffs as Polk would have same record (assuming Bledsoe beats them) and own tie breaker. Think now it will end up like this: Tyner vs. Harpeth Westmoreland vs. Meigs Bledsoe vs. Watertown East Robertson vs. Polk
