  1. It is a club sport at this time. All school systems can choose to compete.
  2. At least one of the candidates considered to be in the mix has been told he is not. So yes, I would agree.
  3. No. Parks only have control of two softball fields. McGavock takes care of the rest.
  4. The real question is did he have it on over his khaki shorts?
  5. Ask Lincoln County if the talent got split when Fayetteville High opened.
  6. Have to be Tyler Turner with 5. 4 as head coach.
  7. The current staff member that you WOULD give the "interim" tag to is one of the applicants so if you do that most decent candidates are not going to apply because it looks like you already have a coach in waiting. A lot of coaches do not want to stick their necks out looking for jobs in case it causes a problem with their current employer, Why do that if it appears the job is already spoken for. Now I know and agree that said current staff member is a "great guy" and all that, but he is not going to get the job. Putting that interim tag on him would only make your situation worse. You certainly would not have had two of the three candidates for sure that have been seen on campus or at said eateries that are considered the "finalists". Try to see the big picture.
  8. Nadeens is a better choice. Although The Flat TIre is good too.
  9. I have witnessed all of them do it. All of those you mentioned, as well as several others, are guilty as charged. The fact that it happens is just part of the landscape now. The fact that people continue to deny it is outright idiocy.
  10. The one that gets violated the most is the part about 1st contact. The student has to contact your school first according to the rules and yet I have watched just about every D2 AAA and AA school (and a couple of A) have coaches, parents or other school representatives go up to kids' parents and introduce themselves at games especially in Metro middle schools. Heck, I have watched it done by public high school folks too. Blatant violation.
  11. They are currently in fundraising for it.
  12. It will not open as a 5A or 6A though. Probably 3A
  13. What he is saying is that he may be the next Nick Saban as far as X's and O's but in D2 you have to have the Jimmys and Joes and he has no connections to bring the athletes in around here. Winning 4 state championships in South Carolina at a 2200 student and closed zoned school 20 years ago means nothing to kids today. These kids are playing for schools 25-30 miles from their homes.
  14. Using the Tennessean as a quote is a joke at best, much like their high school coverage.
  15. Has not coached high school last ten years. Won 4 state championships from 2002-05. Is that enough of a "name hire" to get kids to bypass BA, Lipscomb and CPA to go to BGA? It is about the Jimmys and Joes always. TIme will tell I guess.
  16. Unfortunately, the frills are what the majority of the kids are looking for these days. With school choice, the frills will always win out. These kids, and parents, want people to coddle to them. Yes I know in our time it was important to look and BE tough. Not anymore. Now they all want to be babied and catered to and just talk a lot instead of being able to back it up. The era we are living in.
  17. DCA was founded in 1971, the same year that Metro decided to close two neighborhood high schools in the area. Donelson and Two Rivers, as well as Cameron and Central high schools and bus everyone to the "new" McGavock High School. DCA was formed basically for their kids to avoid the 3000 student diversity at McG. Two Rivers Baptist, which is what I think you are referring to, was not what it later became at that time. There were a couple hundred members then in one normal sized building. Not the couple thousand it later became in the 80s and 90s. I assume you know the Catholic Diocese in Nashville purchased their MUCH larger campus several years ago when Two RIvers Baptist disintegrated and closed. I see they are currently adding on to that campus as we speak. While I am sure there were Baptist people involved in starting DCA, I know for a fact that there were also many other denominations in the area that were in from the start. They have advertised themselves as non-denominational from the start. Nothing but love for ya Boogs. Just straightening it out. Now if they will just hire a coach. Also, Playerscoach has been heavily involved there for a long time. He is a pretty reliable source on DCA.
  18. I ain't tryin' to nitpick, but DCA is non-denominational. Always have been.
  19. That is the problem. There are several good football coaches available, but few want to deal with the metro school day. ie (crap facilities, crap teaching schedule, no funds,) etc. Many of these "coaches" now do not have a teaching certificate which makes it really difficult in Metro. There are all kinds of folks out there that THINK they could fix it, but the reality is much smaller. You have to sell your school and your program. Open zoning destroyed parity. Basically just a couple of all-star teams now with everybody else playing with scraps. Wasn't the QB in Overton's feeder middle school? You have to be able to change the narrative at Antioch. Arnold had a great young QB that helped them compete early. However, the new coach will have to keep getting those kids that have been crossing Murfreesboro Road to play for Woods. Jimmys and Joes make the difference. I don't think it is a coincidence that this year when Antioch made a resurgence, Cane RIdge had their worst team in years.
  20. Antioch should hire the best coach for the job, regardless of if he has a son or not. Kid is only there so long and he doesn't have a lot of help. Much like Stratford. Need a coach willing to stick around and BUILD a program from basically scratch.
  21. I assume you are taking this post from somewhere else. I know it is not you.
