Well we wanted to have one in the fall and hoped to go to another if possible. Silverdale Baptist in Chattanooga is hosting Oct 5, on Chickamauga too. We'll host again in the spring and I'm planning on hosting on Tims Ford to draw more middle TN schools and give my kids more work on that kind of water. There should be plenty of tourneys in the spring for everyone. iTunes Mobdro TutuApp

Yeah I saw that on SAF site. Not sure if i can get things done intime for that but will see what I can do. Another problem that i am facing in the fall are my boat captains out pre-scouting deer!

If anyone knows of a high school student who is a member of the FLW's Student Angler Federation and would like to partner up with Isaac, we can form our own BASS team and fish their tournaments.

A full week of singles-only practice paid off for the Hixson boys tennis team as the Wildcats posted a 4-2 win against host Signal Mountain Friday to earn a trip to next week's Spring Fling state tournament.

Playing a 5 singles-2 doubles format, the Wildcats won three of five singles and then clinched the win at No.2 doubles in the D-I A-AA quarterfinals (sectional) match.

"We lost to Signal Mountain earlier in the season (5-4), so we stressed singles all week and it paid off," said Raul Fernandez. "I am super happy for our guys, especially for senior Kevin Nyugen who will get a taste of the state tournament in his last season."

Singles wins for Hixson came from Alex Condra (No.1), Richard Young (No.2) and Nyugen (No.4), while the host Eagles gained wins from Zach Brown (No.3) and Grant Williams (No.5).

In doubles, Nyugen-Phillips defeated Luke Blentlinger-Thomas Thelen, 8-3 for the match-clinching fourth point.

"To win our doubles match and qualify for state is unbelievable as Carl and I lost our doubles match in our team loss to Signal Mountain earlier in the season," said Nguyen.

"We told each other that we would fight for every point and support each other the entire match and it worked."

Perfect Day: Kevin Nguyen had a perfect day on the court with singles and doubles wins ... he is also perfect in the classroom ..holds a 4.0 GPA and has never made a grade lower than an A going back to the first grade ... he will enroll at the Univ. of the South in the fall and study biology and chemistry.

Season of Firsts: Signal Mtn won district  and region titles for the first time in school history.

"We had an excellent season with two team titles and as we return six of the top eight players for next season, our future is bright," said Signal Mountain coach Renato Mizutani.

Hixson's Season: Coach Raul Fernandez believes this is the first time Hixson boys have ever qualified for the state tournament since the current state team format was implemented in 1988 ... prior to 1988, the team state champion was determined by a school earning a team point for each singles and doubles win by players who had qualified through district and region play.

Hixson has had one state singles champion - Julie Downey, 1983 ... Audra Brannon was a state runner-up in 1990 and her sister, the late Kim Brannon, was a state semifinalist in 1985 ... Kim's daughter, Abigail Ellis, is a senior on the Soddy Daisy team and will compete with Chloe Mitchell in the D-I AAA state doubles next week ...

Have to admit I am a little bit disappointed that so many u-15 teams this year, that were Division I last year, have opted to drop down to Division II... (you know who you are)...Basically makes the Division I league a joke, since only four division I teams exist this season, and they are only going to play league to establish seeding for the state tournament, since they all automatically qualify !

I really think Tennessee Soccer should have taken a closer look at this situation and perhaps intervene or adjust things to balance out the system better...( Consider Georgia's model for select team divisions...that seems to be a much better system, versus letting the teams decide which division to play in....)

    Of course, just my opinion...

    UNIDA JAGUARS

The last team, CUFC 95 BLACK, is from the newly formed merger club here in Chattanooga that for the most part, is a hybrid of the former Redoubt and Premier Soccer Academy (PSA95)..which both played divsion I last season...

My u-15 Division II Girls team in Chattanooga has had a change of plans and now needs to consider a May 15/16th tournament. The only two events I have found have been the Clarksville Shootout (Clarksville, TN), and the inaugaral TN Rush Spring Invitational (Jackson, TN)....Didn't see much that particular weekend in Georgia or Alabama, unless I missed something..

Does anyone have any feedback regarding the Clarksville event..they have combined u-14/15s in the past due to small team participating, so I am curious...This is the first year for the Rush, so I assume not much is known about it and number of teams...

    Any info would be helpful...

Okay...that all said, I looked for the dates this year for you....the same weekend as TN States

You could not make up a story about what happened at the D1 championships this weekend between two East Ridge U16 teams, both playing in the D1 state cup. The East Ridge RPL U16 team played for Redoubt last year. (I think since their existence they have played for 5 different clubs but that is not important to this story). At the state cup last year, one of their best players received a red card in the championship game. Per the rules, or so they thought, she sat out the first league game this year. Well, the coach of the other East Ridge U16 team at the D1 championships (Patrick Winecoff) didn't think this was the rule. So he turned in a team from his own club to the state so that the player would have to sit out. I repeat, an East Ridge coach turned in another East Ridge team to give his own team a better chance! This perfectly explains Chattanooga club soccer. Every team is basically an independent contractor looking out for its own best interests. Chattanooga has no concept about what club soccer is about.7
