I think this is close. I feel like Marion will be down. They are losing their qb/ leader and Rogers who is a stud. I think Marion is running the same boring offense this year so that won’t help them.
Bledsoe loses a lot. They get back several linemen I think but they lose most of their skill guys. Not sure on the coaches.
Tyner returns the most but can they put it all together? It’s hard to trust a passing team. They got thumped in the playoffs. They didn’t lose a lot but the ones they lost was the heart of the team. That’s hard to replace.
Meigs lost a lot of talent. But they have several good players in the upperclassman area. Purgerson and Pendergrass are all state type players.
One big thing I’m hearing is Coach Fitzgerald himself will be coaching the Line! If this is true it could prove to be the difference again for the defending champion Tigers.
Feel free to add more if anyone has anything.

My Indians will be improved from last season!

And I don’t think Tellico will be a threat in that district

I don't know much about the west.  Here is my take on the east. . tyner will be the team to beat.  i think marion and meigs will also be contender (will be a touhg region again.  marion cant be vanilla on offense if they want to compete with regioin 4 and/or compete for region 3 title.  meigs has a lot of pieces to replace.  trousdale and watertown are the other competitors in the east.  i dont know much about regions 1 and 2 but think they will both be down.  of course the 1 who makes it to the semis from there is usually healtheir than region 3/4 winner.

seen where tyner added some coaches to its staff.  i think this could help them alone with bringing most of there team back.  marion has stayed the same from what i  have heard.  Tellico has a new guy calling the shots so they will probable be sparked. did meigs or bledsoe make any coaching changes? same coordinators, etc.?

Cantplay it is hard to tell if your an Eagle or a Tiger. One thing for sure though your understanding of how things work is way off! Poach if you can't coach? So Gary Rankin, George Quarles, Vic Grider and the late Tom Weathers can't coach? Do you realize how many players from those championship teams were transfers? Dont believe you do. If you are a tiger then you know Meigs has been getting transfers for years! Back in the 90's one of there best players was from Athens. If you are an Eagle Bill Horton made a living off Bledsoe kids. So did Fitzgerald and Pemberton as well. Like it or not transferring is what is going on in all of sports today.

I believe that’s game, set, and match!

Who’s the q coming up ? I keep hearing they are getting a kid moving in from neighboring county which would work for the run left program.  The only impact player left is a young Malone no real help from the senior class, if the new recruits don’t help it’s going to be a long season.

I think Meigs has several good players. Also a real good coaching staff. I’ll get my report soon and get back with you.
We might even have to place a small wager since your prediction is gloom and doom.

i have a hard time beleiving he would apply to be an assistant anywhere.  the head coach gigs are understandable.  i figure you could add red bank to that list now. that seems to be a real good job in the chattanooga area

    Spot on!
I believe everyone better hold down the fort on their players with Rankin on the prowl with a big checkbook

I"m going to politely disagree. Looking at the past 5 years, Boyd has stunk.

I would argue Red Bank, Tyner, E. Ham, are definitely schools you could pull kids from. But Baylor and McCallie run Chattanooga. CCS is better than Boyd in the same region. Silverdale is also on the rise. Notre Dame in the mix also.

As far as being crazy to not go play for Rankin, he isn't a household name to kids from Howard School, or Brainerd, or Tyner. And Boyd Buchanan might as well not exist if you are an urban kid from East Chatt.

The truth is if you aren't Baylor or McCallie, it's slim pickings. No way these smaller schools have the financial backing of the two big boys.  And honestly -- if you are pulling Ham. county kids... you gotta beat out McCallie for top talent.

Good post. I agree that Baylor and McCallie are in charge in Chattanooga. However you know how kids now days like the shining new thing and thats Rankin!
I will slightly disagree on Rankin not carrying any water with these kids. I think most high school kids know that Alcoa has been in the butt kicking business for a while now and that Rankin has been at that helm!
I don’t think Boyd has the money of McCallie but they are gonna come out swinging for the fences with the chatty talent in the Brainard , Tyner , Red bank Ect area soon! You can believe that!

This hole mess done got a raw spot on this skillet head. Old Pirate says that Rankin man is OLD. Ifin he is chasing another State Championship, the Chattanooga based Circle Fly Fake Pirates sure ain’t where that’s goin to happen anytime soon! Nows, Ifin he’s owning chasing “W”s then he still ain’t on the fastest route!

I bet Rankin is gonna take that big recruiting budget and go shopping at several local public schools! South Pittsburgh. Sequatchie Ect.  But especially in downtown Chattanooga area. TYLER, Howard. Ect will be getting swamped by Rankin and staff.

Haven’t been around for a while. Did Fitzgerald get the Soddy, Baylor, N Ga, CCS job he applied for?  Or did he get any of the assistant jobs he’s been applying to?

who is the next head coach at Meigs next year?

I think your a nut. He’s got Meigs rolling. His daughter is there and he just built a new house there. That’s the report over the river.

Don't think a instant turnaround is unreasonable. If I remember correctly, Boyd dealt with alot of injuries last season. Winning a title would be another thing entirely

Rankin has benefited from having some really talented teams, but he also has a good track record of his teams improvibg at previous stops before Alcoa. Hardly anybody knew where Riverdale was before he got there

Rankin with the money backing will be dangerous NOW! He’s got several area schools in the Chattanooga area to recruit from. Look at Brainard and Howard and Tyner alone.  Lots of talent in these areas that Rankin will be after! They would be crazy not to go play for Rankin

i think this years team has  chance to be pretty good. will have to beat tyner.  i think that will be the biggest test. i thnk the rest of the region will be down. we have got to make changes to offense scheme though if were gonna make a deep run

I bet the boys over the river will have something to say about that!

@Yeti has not posted since the TC loss. After two losses to Peabody, I am sure they thought this was their year. That loss hit them hard.  Understandably.

Talked to my Meigs connection. They expected to win. Moving forward they have a good solid group of players and coaches. Meigs will be there again next year is the word.

Got to the game at kickoff so didn’t get to meet you yeti. But wow what a atmosphere at Meigs! Players and coaches from all over came to watch these 2 heavyweights go at it.
Meigs come out and controlled the game to begin. The defense for Meigs played lights out. #3 for Meigs made some big plays and I bet #12 had a dozen tackles. Some big time hits.
Trousdale took the punch in the mouth and showed their toughness. Coaches did a good job adjusting at the half. The opening drive was huge. The big run by #5 was well schemed.  55 for Trousdale was a monster. Trousdale made some big plays at critical times. I thought Meigs went to conservative. They had playmakers that just wasn’t used.  The qb got hurt didn’t help matters either. He wasn’t as effective afterwards.
I understand both teams  lose several starters but I would bet  these 2 will rule the roost again next year.  I picked Meigs but I expect Trousdale to now represent the east. Excellent game to attend as a fan.

55 is the top-dog on defense for TC. #40 is not a starter he plays but doesn't start. #6 Cole is a very good Sophomore on both sides of the ball. I wouldn't call him fast compared to the great TC speed but he doesn't get caught when he breaks long rubs for the most part. It's a good assignment of TC defense.

Is 55 a senior? I’m looking forward to come watch these 2 teams butt heads?  What about linebacker?
