  1. A little late to the party here, but the recruiting thing happens all over and it stinks for the local schools. That being said, Tellico playing one of the weakest schedules in the state with one of the best teams in the state will never help them go far in the tournament. There is no reason that the teams that have beaten them the last few years should be the ones to put them out other than the fact that they don't know how to play against real competition. Tellico smashes everyone by 30-40 points all year long and they do not know how to handle the adversity of a close game when it comes tourney time. It is no fault of the players so take nothing away from them, but the coach has to step up his level of competition if he wants them prepared for the big dance. Scheduling is all on the coaches. The other programs mentioned play against talented AAA teams during their seasons like Stone Memorial, Bradley, Oak Ridge, Farragut, etc. because they also play in a weak district and their coaches know they need it. The girls had an amazing season, but they had the talent to do a lot more if they had been prepared during season.
  2. From our end of the state: 1. Macon 2. Meigs 3. Upperman 4. South Greene 5. Northview
  3. A kid that comes back from an ACL injury several weeks early even when she is not 100% is a kid that wants to play and does not give up. She was the district MVP as a sophomore last year and came off the bench for several games this season before she got her legs back under her from her surgery. Even with playing limited minutes for a big part of the year she ended up being the leading scorer, All-district, All-Region, and one of the best defenders they have. That same girl scored 32 last year in the sub-state against Akira Levy and Upperman in the last game of the year after two of the seniors starters quit the team before the game. That same kid helped lead a comeback and force overtime with 19 second half points and several steals against McMinn Central in the region championship game when the team was getting hammered at halftime. I don't think any of the Meigs' girls could be considered quitters, but Kassidy Kenny is definitely not one.
  4. It looked like Meigs' coach threw in the towel at the end of the third quarter. He sat his leading scorer and one of his better defenders the whole fourth quarter. Meanwhile Macon had their best on the court until she fouled out late in the fourth (Carter). When you win 22 games in a row it is hard to know what to do when you are actually losing I guess.
