  1. AE isnt going to run the gauntlet of playing bigger schools each week. Playing Bearden, Maryville, Farragut, Oak Ridge, Cleveland, Bradley Central and Hardin Valley. They may win a game or two but they won't make the playoffs.
  2. Is this from Dilfer era, this year or both?
  3. Accurate, across the board they don't have enough in football to sustain success...Jack Alley and Davila are as good as anyone. Big fall off after that. They have a year where they put it all together and make a good run like the state year and a few years ago when they had Matt White who somehow made them competitive in games they should not have been .
  4. Agree with that...FHS limited passing attack is making them one dimensional.
  5. A play breaks down and everyone scrambles... you can call it what you want. But you're freelancing when it turns into backyard football.
  6. Score aside, great atmosphere for a high school rivalry game.
  7. I can see that....Todd was elusive and from memory faster than people probably give him credit for. I remember his SR year playing Powell in the jamboree and took a read, pulled it and was gone around the end. Powell was loaded that year too and he made it look easy.
  8. It was interesting question for sure. A good QB can make the play caller look better than they are. Potts extended plays with freelance when things broke down... you can coach that, but alot of QB's like Potts just make that happen. Neither Powell or Bearden have that.
  9. Except the coach standing there and the player the coach was celebrating with . Bearden player didn't get him out of bounds, he got a hand on him...it was the trying to up the sideline with Coach and player there. *Bearden won the game and that is the only thing that matters.
  10. Flukey? Farragut blocked another FG and ran it back. That's like saying it was "Flukey" for Farragut to go goal line at the 40 to stop the run and the kid pops one to win it.
  11. The question to Josh after the game seemed as though Potts made you better than you made Potts. As neither Powell or Bearden can pass the ball since he left.
  12. Not sure you watched the game, Farraguts DC cost them a touchdown and the lead heading into halftime. Game was tied at halftime, game was tied with a little over two mins to play. Both offenses struggled regardless of who was playing or not play. 29 carries for 143 is a solid night, 40 of those came one carry to win the game in the end. Both teams offense won't be giving advice anytime soon in regards to throwing the ball. Controlling the LOS of scrimmage is not going 3 and out majority of the possessions or the opposing LB having 21 tackles.
  13. Dominated? The game was 14-14 with a little over 2 mins to play. Farragut coach cost them a TD and Bearden couldn't capitalize on the onside kick to start the second half...pretty much summed up the game. Dominated is not a term anyone who watched that game would use.
  14. That's what helped them with Powell in the second half, swing passes to RB or Landis.
  15. Duncan's two INT's were throw them up, much like the first two wins.... throw it deep and hopefully Landis is somewhere around to get free and catch it. Offense changed once #3 went out.
  16. Wonder how the halftime speech went from Coach Courtney to his DC who was on the field on the blocked FG being ran back with a clear sideline besides him..cost them a potential TD and would have put them up 14-7.
  17. Powell in a close one. Needs to be a game where Soles shows up big on defense.
  18. If "true Bearden" kids could play none of this would have mattered. Those calling the shots needed a change to keep up with the Knoxville landscape.
  19. Majority of the teams if not all in Knox/Blount/Anderson are going to only want to do a home and home. As their is more than enough games here for those teams to fill their schedule. Nobody here would be afraid to play Elizabethton as most teams here play or have played Maryville, Alcoa, West etc. But if a game is needed, your coach/AD has a huge area to call from.
  20. Plenty of teams in Knoxville/Blount/Anderson Co. to schedule and work some home and homes with.
  21. Seems they need to take it out on the Head Coach and AD who couldn't get more games at home. 3 homes games and 7 away games....4 straight away games to start the season is an issue. Week 8 is the first home game now, heck I'm mad for you.
  22. If they are making 30-40K in concessions a game and struggle, it seems there is a money management issues and not a Boone issue. If you're entitled to a game because you're a season ticket holder than you understand the value of weekend plans. Seems per the article Morristown West couldn't do Saturday (Boone could) and Boone couldn't do Sunday.
  23. Always more to the story, here is some quotes and context of this back and forth of chest beating. Boone athletic director Danny Good said the teams set 10 p.m. as a deadline to restart the contest, but the weather didn’t cooperate. Because it is a Region 1-5A contest, it has to take precedence in being finished. “We talked about coming back (Saturday), but that didn’t work for Morristown West,” Good said. “Sunday afternoon didn’t work for us.” That left Monday and Thursday on the table. “Monday wasn’t ideal because it doesn’t put the kids from Morristown West and Daniel Boone in the best position to be successful, having two games in four days,” Good said. “It’s unsafe, and we’re not going to ask our kids to do that.” So that pushed the game to Thursday, meaning West will also have to cancel its scheduled game with Greeneville — which has already had two of its first four games ruled “no contest” because of weather problems. Good said he hopes the situation doesn’t damage the strong relationship with the Cyclones. “It helps us to get better, and the second reason is to make money,” Good said. Elizabethton ran into weather problems of its own against Cherokee. The Cyclones and Chiefs rescheduled their game for Sunday at 3 p.m. Also running into problems was West Ridge, which will not make up its game against Lakeway Christian. “(Lakeway’s) athletic director met with myself and (Lakeway coach) Thad Wells and based the decision off of radar,” West Ridge coach Justin Hilton said. “We were looking at a 10:35 p.m. kickoff or later. A makeup was never discussed because we both have region games next week.” Other teams were able to get their games finished despite long delays. Dobyns-Bennett fell 25-14 to Jefferson County and Volunteer was on the short end of a 35-13 decision against Northview Academy. South Greene’s game against Chuckey-Doak was moved to Saturday morning, where the Class 2A Rebels pulled off a somewhat surprising 34-20 win over the Class 3A Black Knights. Sevier County will play its Region 1-5A game against Cocke County on Monday at 7 p.m. Also moved to Monday was North Greene’s home game against Cumberland Gap.
