  1. I must respectfully disagree because, in the ranking game, a 3-3 club would never be ranked higher than a 5-1 squad. Additionally, teams are matched differently. According to this logic, South Carolina's victory over Tennessee would have led you to rank South Carolina higher than Alabama the previous year. Now, props to Antioch; they're playing well, and I believe their best ball is still in front of them.
  2. It baffles me that someone would come to this website and tell such a blatant untruth. It's BS to claim that the children had no idea what a weight room looked like. When you talk on an issue, be sure the facts are accurate. Stewart had a strength and conditioning coach on his staff who did an excellent job and was taken away by a private school to oversee all of the school's athletic departments.
  3. I didnt assume anything actually. My point is TSSAA should take less because teams are not selling out and they are going into the red more times than not. Actually TSSAA should study surrounding states and see what works for them and what doesn't work.
  4. If I know football in Georgia when it comes to the playoffs. Those games are typically sold out every time. As for the team I speak of the game for tomorrow has already sold out so no it's not speculation. so for instance the stadium holds 4000. The tickets are 8 dollars a game for all classes and the price increases by the round by the way. so with that the gate has brought in 32000. They give the GHSA 14% and that leaves 27500 to split between the teams. take out the expenses that might occur and thats around 10000 profit. the second round increases to 10.00 for (2a-6a). Third round will be 12 dollars all classes. Then it increases to 15 dollars for the semi and 18 for the championship if its a pre sale and 20 if day of the game.
  5. No they are making at least 10,000-15,000 on the gate each round they are in the playoffs. My former school is 1A division 2 and they have already eclipsed a net gain of 10,000+ for the first round this year. After the splits with the other team and GHSA. Not to mention what will come from the concession stand.
  6. Thats what all of this is about keeping more money from the gates and on the back end to help fund your program and not be in the red. Ask any coach around would they love to end the year with a $30,000 check heck even a 10,000 check.
  7. It isn’t the same amount in the end I promise you that. teams that made the state championship in Georgia in 2011-2012 made close to 30,000 for that game alone. That’s more than what some teams made from All 5 games last year dealing with TSSAA. I would also go out on a limb and say that they make more now because In 2019 they were making close to 50,000.
  8. I would much rather pay the GA membership fees upfront. I’m going to make more money down the road. There is a reason so many schools in Georgia pay their high school coaches 6 figures. One they ain’t giving all their money to their high school association.
  9. Like you did last year as well but hey enjoy your victory y’all earned it. Hope you guys finally make the big game.
  10. Actually they played with out a lot of guys against you as well. They were without two of their best defensive players. heck they have played the whole year with out last years region defensive player of the year. Their third best defensive player was playing on a bad leg. they were missing their top two running backs and two of their top 2 receivers. Also the quarter back that was ejected also was the starting safety so that makes 4 of their top defensive players. Also it would have been nice if the refs called that flag correctly. instead of letting #6 punch a kid in the stomach after the whistle four times. It should have either been offsetting personal fouls or both kids ejected. So we are at 8 starters not including those missing on the o-line.
  11. All of Alcoa kids don’t come from two parent homes I can assure you of that. Some of them come from single parent homes that struggle like everybody else. There is a program at every school in the state that sends food home with kids and I know this for fact happens in metro. my daughter works for metro and provides food for kids in need at the school she serves. Question are your coaches taking advantage of this. It’s quite ironic that you took this lil part from what I said to change the narrative. I even said it’s not to the point of pearl but they deal with it and I know it for a fact.
  12. Metro is not the only school system that deals with this heck even Alcoa deals with it might not be to the level of metro but they deal with it. I will give you a more comparable school system Knox county. they have almost the same amount of high schools. I know for a fact they face the same issues I’ve coached in both school systems for over 20 years and the only difference was the community support. heck even the schools that went 1-9 or 0-10 sold out all their home games because the students and the community support the team through it all no matter the outcome. That’s one thing I don’t see in metro. Knox county has still produce state champions in recent years ie central who I know for a fact deals with the same things as metro schools.
  13. It will be tough without #7. That’s a big blow when the games have gotten tough he has been the problem solver for them. On the road against a team that was going to give you fits anyway. I now have to lean towards Hardin to take the win, but I wouldn’t be surprised if PC wins they have won the other games that he has missed but how long can they keep that up.
  14. Again I’m not taking anything from PC year in year out they have the athletes to compete with and beat Alcoa. The difference however is the continuity. Those kids at Alcoa have been on the same team since little league with a couple of guys sprinkled in here and there. PC is getting talent from all over the place and trying to mesh it together in 4 years compared to 10-11 years together. That’s the model that the Rutherford county schools are taking on with kids coming up through there youth programs. I will say this look at every team that won state last year and that will win this year. Then look at the weekly fan support they get heck take a look at their student sections then go to a metro home game that is not a rivalry game and tell me what you see. The support isn’t there from the school system or the school community unless it’s a big rivalry game.
  15. I have no affiliation to either school let me get that out the way first, but if that’s the case then that is why metro hasn’t won anything since Hillsboro. The goal is not to be the best in metro, but the best in the state. PC has won plenty of freshman city championships but what has that translated to a couple of runner-ups. As a competitor I want to measure myself against the teams that complete the job and win state.
