  1. When I heard last night that Coach Morson was leaving, my Mom askes me who I thought might replace him. I said my first call would be to their DC, so I indeed hope that is the case! Lots of sack sandwiches in store, if so!
  2. Especially that Heath Jacks idiot! I don't like him, either!
  3. LOL! You know that a team like Fayetteville gets little respect on the boards! Want a 15 page thread Mention South Pittsburgh and the posters will flock to it! To the post at hand, though, Eagleville has a pretty good team, but from all indications Fayetteville is more athletic. The Tigers need to keep focused, though. If they stumble Friday night it creates a 1st place tie in the region, and that will screw up Fayetteville's seeding for the playoffs. Tigers need to win it outright, so most playoff games will be played in the Den! Oh...Roll Tide
  4. The most important, game-impacting stat for this game was Fayetteville's success stopping Cornersville on 4th down. It seemed like Cornersville was like an ocean wave trying o batter the shore. Drive after drive they got deep in Fayetteville territory only to be turned away. Fayetteville stopped them on 5 of 6 4th down attempts, and the only successful conversion was the one late in the game where the player was stopped short but the refs called a penalty that gave them the first down. 5 out of 6 stops on 4th down will win close games with that kind of defense.
  5. I think the Nick Saban Coach Rehabilitation Camp has a few new openings! Come on, Jeremy! Pete Golding needs some good defensive input!
  6. I really do not know all that much about the new teams in the region, but its hard to argue with your order. Definitely my FC Tigers defend their region championship, but I am going to pick Moore County as a solid second, and possible darkhorse for region champs. However, their QB, which was really good is gone, so I think the talent difference between MC and FC is still pretty wide overall. Huntland may jump in at 3rd, but after Fayetteville City and Moore County, it will make for some really good matchups to make the playoffs in the 3rd and 4th spots.
  7. Great game, great people at LC, everything I had hoped for! I do wish the wind would have been a little less chilly, but great night for football, all the same! I look forward to more matchups with Lake County in the future, as both squads look to have some staying power! Fayetteville City will have a tough game versus South Pitt, but it will all be settled in Cookville. GO TIGERS!
  8. Thank you for this! I know not all 1-A teams can have enough room in the press box for another team's crew, but even the ones that do not have always been very generous and as accommodating as possible, save for one last year. Two level press box and would not let me set up even though there should have been plenty of places. It was at a certain heavy rival's field. Either way, I just look forward to play at a really cool place from everyone that has been there! Good luck to both teams, and there is a lot to be proud of for the young men on both sides!
  9. I am pumped to be able to call this game for Fayetteville! In the 2 years I have been doing the play-by-play, I see Lake County mentioned a lot here on the board, so it is an honor to get this far and play a storied tradition in 1-A! It'll be a long trip, but a beautiful area to go and see a football game, and both fan bases seem to be friendly, classy people. May the best team win this Friday! Question - does anybody know if the press box at LC is large enough to accomodate visiting teams radio crew (2 men)? Thanks in advance! Go Tigers!
  10. No. TSSAA charges $750 per game to live stream it, so way too rich for the school to do. However, we are on the MIXLR app for those outside of the WEKR radio range (which unfortunately is most everybody). At least, though, you can hear us call the game that way. It is a free app. Download, sign up for an account, and search WEKR to follow the broadcast. We'all start a few minutes before 7.
  11. Tragic! I hear that a lot of the City football players were close friends, and this is hard on them. And, last year they had a teammate killed in a wreck. Ugh! These kids have experienced WAY too much death in their young lives! Prayers to all!
  12. In the song "Boys of Fall" that they play before just about every game, there is a line that says "You mess with one of us, you've got us all"...the Tigers were just making that real. So the line should be "You mess with one man, we gotta watch from the sideline..or they'll eject us all."
  13. Pace was playing the QB out of the wildcat, and tried the keeper around right end. Cornersville had it played well and stacked him up, but after the whistle blew Pace got body slammed.
  14. What a heck of a crazy game, but so relieved Fayetteville came up with some huge stops in the 4th! Coach Morsom was really, really angry at his team for their reaction to their back being body slammed. Tempers were high before that, but all the way in the top row of our side I could hear the coach shouting "We're better than that! Keep control!" It very nearly cost them a Region championship, too, because 4 of our key players, including our punter, go tossed. It seemed almost inevitable that Cornersville would pull it out, and hats off to them for their effort! Hopefully, the team can learn from this about the consequences of reacting the wrong way and losing their cool! I would give the game ball to the Freshman running back, Jackson, though, who was hobbled on the last few series of the game and could hardly walk, much less run, but sealed the deal with a 20 yard first-down scamper on a crucial 3rd and 14! After the game, he had to be literally carried off the field.
