  1. Understand there were at least 3 quits today and only 17 at practice. Has Scotty’s boy lost the team after only 3 games?
  2. You got that right. When your school board "representative" looks you in the eye and says "why I voted the way I did is none of your business", and that attitude is backed by other school board members, you know your day is done. They apparently are only held accountable at the ballot box, and that day is coming...
  3. Week One of the ‘Hire Scotty Newman’s Buddy Show’ went exactly as expected, other than the blank/indignant look on the Greenback representative’s face when asked why he didn’t support Ryan. It was obvious that they had prepared for certain questions, particularly the one about Clemmer being dismissed from Edmiston’s staff (“There’s no documentation of that”). Hah! Unless there’s a packed house next Thursday, including players and their parents, they’re gonna hire Scotty’s buddy, so we’ll be right back here in two more years, trying to resurrect the program.
  4. You bet I will, and I’ll work to help anyone who runs against him. I wonder if the new principal realizes the bridges he has burned in the community?
  5. Which county official or officials said no? If that question can be answered then we can identify exactly who hijacked the process.
  6. Two things I learned this week - **The Indian carving next to the depot has a better chance of being elected to the school board than Moffett has of being re-elected. **I never thought I would see a Greenback principal who cared less about his relationship with the community than the last one. I was wrong.
  7. If votes were submitted by email instead of at a called meeting, sounds to me like care was taken to see that the FOI didn’t apply to the process. When you can’t get a straight answer (or in some cases, any answer) about how votes were cast, you have to conclude there’s something to hide. This has been a hatchet job from the word go, carefully orchestrated by self-serving politicians and administrators.
  8. The board said no, or one person on the board said no? If it was one person, was that person’s good buddy the final selection as coach? Just asking…
  9. Letting Loudon County politicians hire the Greenback coach is like letting the Crimson Tide Booster Club hire Tennessee’s coach. They’re going to make sure Greenback never embarrasses them again.
  10. Oh, I thought that we ARE supporting the boys by wanting something better for them than a head coach with no experience and a part-time AD. People who are not confident in coaching staffs are known to take their kids to other schools and we are not deep enough for that to happen.
  11. Nice first post! Credibility = 0
  12. The so-called “search” committee should have to meet Greenback residents and explain this embarrassment.
  13. Wow. Congrats to the pols and puppets on the search committee. Hired someone with no head coaching experience, no teaching certificate, but a good friend of some committee members. Couple that with a part-time athletic director, and the football program is in the dumpster. Even if there’s enough players to field a team next fall, there won’t be enough people in the stands to pay the stadium light bill.
  14. You can disagree all you want, but numbers don’t lie. 6 Seasons prior to Ryan - .671 Overall win %, .625 District win %, .444 Playoff win % 6 Seasons under Ryan - .829 Overall win %, .971 District win %, .791 Playoff win % His teams lost 1 district game in 6 years, and that during Covid affected season where you were lucky to have enough players available to take the field. If you want to credit it all to superior athletes, maybe it’s worth considering that he helped to develop that talent into Mr. Football and D1 (actually 6) players, as well as attracted talent from outlying areas that wanted to benefit from his coaching. Did the talent just show up, or was it developed? Let’s also not forget Ryan’s contribution to our state championship baseball team. If you truly think that the kids are the priority here, talk to any of the ones who played for Ryan (including the ones still at Greenback) and see who they would rather have as coach. No contest.
