  1. Hmmmm not so sure about that in this case.
  2. Oh there were discussions alright. LC had more than enough chance to keep him. They dropped the ball. But at least you’ve got a brand new gym floor....
  3. CONGRATULATIONS Coach Puckett!! They are getting one heck of a football coach. Sure hate to see West TN lose another good one. https://www.t-g.com/story/2677600.html
  4. TSSAA.COM Lake County Falcons Championship Record: 51-33 Appearances (36): 2019, 2018, 2017, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1993, 1992, 1991, 1989, 1988, 1986, 1985, 1984, 1983, 1980, 1979, 1978, 1977, 1972, 1969 Finals Appearances/Runners-up (6): 2019, 1994, 1985, 1980, 1979, 1977 Championships (3): 2019, 1985, 1980
  5. Coach Puckett runs a tight ship & I can assure you those kids all can’t wait for the chance to play for him. In his 7 years as head coach, he has yet to have a losing season, ill save you a repeat of his stats, & just say that his record speaks for itself. These 12 graduating seniors can tell you everything you need to know about the culture, work ethic, dedication, & team chemistry. They will all tell you what it means to be a leader & to have a coach that pushes you beyond your own expectations & believes in you no matter what. Ask any of them. They will all tell you the same about their Coach. Oh and BTW 5 of those seniors have signed with college programs, 2 of which are D1. Academics is a first priority as is proven by a team GPA of more than 3.5 You most certainly don’t have to take my word, but numbers don’t lie. He is a genuinely good man & everything he does is for the kids, not for the pay.
  6. I was just saying if he were to consider leaving it would be for better opportunities for his family, pay is generally at least a factor. As far as just having a few athletes that are better, they beat (2) AA schools, (2) AAA, and a AAAA school this year.
  7. My friends son played for Lake County and I have attended several of their games over the last few years so heres what I know. Puckett is currently at Lake County High School where he just finished up a 15-0 season after winning state and has a record of 38-5 over the last 3 years. The team this year was 1 of only 4 undefeated teams in the state with the second highest scoring offense at 48.8 PPG. He was also 7A coach of the year and TN coach of the year finalist. The two previous years his teams finished in the semi finals, the man can straight up coach, a guru on both sides of the ball. He puts tremendous focus on getting the guys in shape and prepared in the weight room. He is very good with both offense and defense and the players love him and his coaching style. His youngest son is an upcoming junior that can ball out too. Cayden is an impressive athlete on both sides of the ball. He can play RB, QB, WR, FS, S and compete with anyone. He'll be playing QB for LC this year, has a great arm and isn't afraid to tuck it. He was really impressive in Cookeville, especially when their starting RB left the game with a broken collar bone in the second quarter. He does a lot at Lake County with very little, I've been very impressed with him. He is also the head coach in baseball and they made it to state last year as well. I wish nothing but the best for him and his family. If yall have a chance of landing him at Shelbyville you better snag him.
  8. The football team is losing 12 seniors to graduation on a team of what was 33 players, at a school with 200 students. BTW LC baseball players have played football spring games for at least seven seasons with no injuries. Injuries do happen. Although it’s incredibly unfortunate and devastating for LC losing one of their best pitchers, you obviously hate it for the kid more than anyone, those type of injuries can happen anywhere. In no way does that make the coach negligent for playing him. A lot of the smaller schools have kids who play both sports and are starters at both. To say it’s unheard of in a spring scrimmage is silly. Only 5A/6A would get away with not playing football players in a scrimmage during baseball season, obviously due to larger numbers. I also want to say that for anyone to imply or even hint at the possibility that Puckett would do anything but what is in those kids BEST interest is completely ridiculous! The kids come first with him, and always have.
  9. If your sources are right & UC reaches out to him, that would be BIG time for the football program. Puckett would be my pick as well. His youngest son is a weapon on the field. Kid can ball.
  10. Wow. This seems to be a surprise to everyone. Should be interesting to see who they go after now.
