There was horrible officiating in more than one or two games during the girls and the boys tournament. I saw a couple games that the the officials and/or the scorers table really effected the flow of the game. However, congratulations to all the winners.

I was always under the impression that the defending champion was the favorite until eliminated? Everyone has been giving WC the title all season and now look what happened. I agree the best team will hoist the gold ball Saturday.

I totally agree. With the amount of teams, they would have to play each other, but i think the gripe that many are having is that they're all playing first round. There is nothing about that telling me it's blind or random. They are plugging teams in where they want them to be and in my opinion its all about who is going to bring them a crowd to make TSSAA the most money.

Is it me or does TSSAA have all West Tn teams playing each other in the first round?

TSSAA needs to go back to the "blind draw" with coaches in attendance. 

Peabody at JCM should be good.

South Gibson at Fayette Ware I believe will be better than expected as well as McNairy at Sycamore.

Lawrence Co. at Livingston Academy will be good

Dyersburg is the most talented team with 3 Division 1 prospects (Crawford, Jordan, Strayhorn) another really good college level prospect in Maclin. Coach Strayhorn had them playing high level basketball in the district championship against Crockett County.

Is Crawford ready to play?

Have I come to a consensus that we are handing it to White County this year?

I can assure you that it is not the coach's fault. This has been the same experience with every coach they have had for the past 10-12 years. the culture for girl's sports is down there and the talent pool in that area is down. The talent they do have around there choose to go private or to South Side. JCM has a hand full of talented kids now so they will possibly have a decent program going forward. I believe they are a top team in their district this season.

I think they only have 2 seniors. Their middle school is talented. They have a set of twins that are really athletic and pretty decent skill and a couple more good size kids that can play well enough to help them in the coming years.

Of course the caveat with this conversation is that there are districts for a reason. When you combine teams from two districts there will obviously be some travel involved. 

Just looking at the districts and regions on TSSAA website, this will be the case for more than a few regions. Travel will be 1-2 hours

In regards to the schools you speak of that are not being given the opportunity to host, are you certain that they have been asked? I’ve seen many schools refuse to host because of the amount of work it takes. In addition, do the schools you speak of have adequate seating and parking? I’m all about equal opportunities but there are simply some campuses that have no business hosting regions.

It's definitely all about the money. I once worked at a middle school in West Tn and helped with athletics and due to the catastrophic insurance per player for football our fee was very high a couple of years. Also, the public schools in our area do not participate and a few of the smaller county schools around us don't either.
