Ocean, was your comment directed at Durden’s comments or mine? You replied to mine so my response would be in D2, I believe Peterson or Harper should have won it. Since there is no criteria for such an award, we are stuck with the way it is and has been for years.

If pinning your way through tournament is your guidelines then the stud on your team shouldn’t have won MOW 3 years in a row since he didn’t pin his way through the tournament once. Still one of the best and love to watch him on the mat but definitely not the best overall in the State Tournament. Coaches/voters are biased in this State and all one has to do is look at the results.

Everyone knows Tenn is a popularity contest and the award does not always go to the “true” MOW at the State tournament. Not to mention the votes are collected before the finals match as well. It’s such a shame so many Coaches just pick on past and don’t evaluate true outcomes in these particular tournaments. Some kids are great wrestlers and are going on to the next level but it’s so blatant that it’s actually become laughable. Cody is the best wrestler in TN P4P period, he may or may not have been this years MOW but he will never win MOW at a State Tournament due to pettiness and jealousy in this state.

Popularity contests and that’s that. Seen too many kids get overlooked that deserved to win OW and it’s given to someone on past performance.

With all due respect to the wrestlers on your list, How do you put kids that didn’t even win their weight class last year in the State and not even the best overall on their own teams? Peterson, I believe got majored at State last year and you have him 4 (does not mean I don’t think he’s. Very good wrestler)? Several kids on your list have been getting beat this year by other kids from TN not on your list. If you can’t win TN and dominate your weight class here (outside of being on DL, not wrestling anymore like Howard or Roller/Ivy situation) If you lack National wins or don’t excel on National level do you deserve to be on list? Who is most dominant at their weights and on their teams is where you start. No particular order: Whitworth, Cagle, Taylor, Corday, Dendy, Harper, Bowers, Dalrymple, Roller, Ivy

I have not validated so if someone could... A parent for a Cleveland wrestler posted on a different social media thread, that some in the administration of CHS have kids that participate in the sports not cancelled and none have any kids on wrestling team. True or false?

As a long time reader and 1st time poster, I just have to say there are some clueless people on this thread that have zero understanding of what they speak and it clearly shows in their non stop incompetent posts. What does it matter if a public or private has which wrestlers? The cream will always rise to the top and the best want to wrestle the best. Most if not all the top tier kids in the state and southeast have wrestled each other since they were beginners. If a kid succeeds at a public, then great for them. If a kid succeeds at a private, then great for them as well. Local Kids that grow up here may have loyalty to a coach or club and want to go local or for whatever reason don’t want the private or maybe can’t afford the tuitions there. But if you wanna stop crying and focus on the wrestling, put all the champs and an at large and let the 4 have a RR to determine the individual State Champ. But for the love of TN wrestling, shut up about what you think you know and wrestle! If little Johnny can’t win it in individual (forget the team title for the moment) then he doesn’t deserve it anyway. End of story. Peace
