  1. RIP to one of the state’s all time greatest. Incredible run between 1989-1992. 1989 3A champion 1991: 3A runner up 1992: last ever 15-0 3A champion
  2. So where do you have this PCHS team all time in metro Nashville? 1. 1981 Overton. Not ever going to be topped 2. 2023 PCHS. 15-0. Won at MBA and at state champion CPA 3. 2008 Hillsboro. Ended Maryville 74 game winning streak 4-5. 1996-1997 PCHS. John Henderson/Buck Fitzgerald teams 6. 1989 Whites Creek. Led by future Super Bowl champion Shelton Quarrels one of the great all time defenses 7. 1991 Stratford. The 4 horsemen. Peaked here should have won it all in ‘92 that’s my list that I have seen in person
  3. Congratulations to Coach Brunetti and the Firebirds. What a season. One of the great metro Nashville teams of all time.
  4. I will give the slight edge to McCallie in this one. Both have explosive offensives that can score quickly. Baylor with Jefferson/LeBlanc/Muschamp and McCallie with the 1-2 punch at RB and mobile QB. I trust the McCallie defense to get the 1-2 stops that will be the difference in the game. I doubt either team will turn it over. McCallie has a really good kicker and it could come down to that. I'll go 34-28 McCallie. Will be a national holiday in Canada and they can parade the trophy through the streets of Montreal.
  5. yeah I mean, that's the stupid decision....that was clearly stupid when it happened, and has to go down as one of the more boneheaded decisions of all time. Imagine if they had just gone with Killburg on day 1? where would they be right now? And done the sensible thing and said we can't take on a new QB in August after the season had already started?
  6. I will come out of retirement to post on this topic...no LA fan, but I don't get what they did wrong here and why they are facing such a harsh punishment. Text messages between the parent of an 8th grade student and an assistant coach regarding financial aid? For one, as LA stated in their appeal, an assistant coach can't do anything about financial aid one way or the other, so whatever he's texting doesn't mean anything. I'm sure every private school had emergency training with their staffs this week about texting with parents this week. The parent says "LA is cutting our financial aid"...not sure what that means; as has been noted, the clearinghouse determines anyone's financial aid award, and by the looks of it LA is not short on cash, so I would guess he just didn't like what he was expected to pay. Either way, the TSSAA isn't saying LA messed around with financial aid; it's just about the text messages themselves. The kid isn't there anymore so clearly he didn't receive any improper financial aid. So I don't get how text messages between a parent of a kid enrolled at the school and an assistant coach at the school can somehow be considered "recruiting." From what I have heard they were shopping around at BA, MBA and Ensworth because they didn't like the LA basketball coach. That said, LA should have just released him as an 8th grader/rising 9th grader, unless they feel pretty confident that Ensworth (where he is now) did something wrong in recruiting him.
  7. Well likewise I am a huge huge fan of Kaleb Beasley. Just as a kid, athlete person and I look forward to cheering for him for many years (except 1 week) for a very long time.
  8. Honestly we’d love Tav at MBA. He’d do great for us. Hate for him and his family (good people) he will never see the field at LA.
  9. Of course I don’t think seniors should get to play because they’re seniors. That doesn’t make sense. Best 11 kids play when the ball is snapped. May work out for you, may not. All you can do is your best, put the work in, listen to your coaches. You get beat out by an underclassman, then so be it. Glad it worked for my son, in football. Hasn’t been the case in other sports he plays. No harm in that.
  10. The number of 11th hour transfers, after practice and scrimmages have started, from out of the the area. And the TSSAA granting them all immediate eligibility even though it is really dubious that some of them are “moving” to the area at all. Have never observed anything like this happening in D2 in all of its existence beginning in 1997. If it’s going to require doing that to win, then I would prefer we lose and don’t do what is required to win. Not aware of any transfers that will play for us this year. Last year there were 2 who played—one family moved to Nashville from Kentucky when the kid was a sophomore, and one son of an alum who started at BA and transferred to MBA and was required to sit out his junior year. Both graduated last year.
  11. To each his own, and we have all had our own experiences that have formed our opinions. Mine, as an MBA alum, parent, volunteer, and donor is that I would rather us disband the program than participate in whatever this current state of affairs is. Been around this for 30+ years and the current state of affairs is unprecedented. But again to each his own, and as I wrote before glad it’s someone else and not me trying to teach my son a “life lesson” about not getting to play this year as a senior.
  12. Indeed you are correct. If you are a full tuition paying parent better keep your head on a swivel.
  13. Wow tough day for the kid who started the scrimmage vs PCHS Friday night and has been listed previously as one of the top 10 QBs in the state heading into the season.
  14. this would be my view...I'm certainly grateful that this summer I'm not having conversations with my son, that after 5 years in the program...all the sacrifice, hard work, being a good teammate, 6:00 AM workouts, late nights in the weight room (not to mention years of me paying a lot in tuition), that oh, sorry, we've recruited a bunch of new players from all over who are showing up tomorrow and will be taking your position, and your senior year you aren't going to get to play, unless its some mop up duty in a blow out. To each his own, but I would rather lose every game than win that way.
