  1. Tigers played unfocused tonight. Way too many penalties. Once City woke up and started playing, the game was never in question, but gosh, it was ugly. Nevertheless, I’ll take a 42-17 win in the 2nd round.
  2. SM Power Ratings has: FHS 144 Huntland 80 According to his secret/magic formula, add 2 pts to the home team and subtract to estimate the difference in the final score. That suggests a 66 pt margin for City.
  3. The “Chattanooga Times Free Press” newspaper is a daily. Every other Chattanooga area team’s game has an article. Just think it’s funny.
  4. Coverage of Friday night’s game is conspicuously absent from the Chattanooga newspaper.
  5. Never fully understood the algorithms behind Sonny Moore’s Power Ratings, but current listing shows: FHS 141 MC 117 Forgetting the suggested 2 point home field advantage, an FHS win by about 24 points seems the right order of magnitude.
  6. You can listen to the Tigers on WEKR 1240 AM or 98.5 FM “The Elk” if you are in the local area. www.985theelk.com lets you stream the audio worldwide
  7. FHS and Moore County have played 10 times. FHS leads the series with 6 wins and 4 losses.
  8. I don’t know about the 56, but I don’t see the Tigers’ defense giving up 28 points. Our D is averaging 9.5 points allowed per game so far.
  9. You are absolutely wrong about recruiting by City. Be careful what you accuse other programs of doing, especially when you have no information to back it up and data shows exactly the opposite. 99% of FHS players are “City lifers,” having been with us since Kindergarten or pre-K. Being a “City lifer” is something the students - athletes or not - take great pride in. With all due respect, I’m not saying this as “a guy in the stands.” I’ve been on the City School Board for 20 years. These young people love their school and obviously give their all every week preparing for every game. God has blessed them with many talents, and when these 16 seniors graduate next May, 17 Fayetteville Middle School 8th grade football players will move up as freshmen and begin working to maintain the high standards as FHS student-athletes. (Lots of other talented non-football players will move into FHS as well.) Frankly, no recruiting is necessary at City, and we absolutely do not and would not allow it.
  10. Defense wins championships. Well done, Tigers!!!
  11. Mine came this week. It’s pitiful. Colossal waste of money. I could Google more info than this on each team. Perhaps once he learned Murphy Fair wasn’t doing one, he didn’t have time to do much. Nonetheless, this wasn’t worth publishing - I’d be embarrassed to print this and sell it.
