  1. On paper both should make it but you never know with teenage kids.
  2. Most Marion fans will tell you that those games should have been won. Very disappointed to say the least but personally I thought we would win the region and maybe 2 to 3 rds and that's it. Some good kids on this team but to me it's not a title team. I've seen those and this isn't one of them.
  3. Could have / should have been 10-0. The 2 games they lost by walkoff FGs should have been W's in my opinion. The other 8 games they had running clocks in the 2nd half. None of that matters now though. 1 bad game and it's round ball time.
  4. I was at the '90 game. Absolute downpour as the players warmed up pregame. Colquette had the Warriors doing up-downs in the mud while the Owls were watching at the other end of the field. White uniforms were brown before the game started. MC won that game before the kickoff. I think it was 50-0 on the way to their first state title. That was the week after losing their final regular season game by 40 to a D1 loaded 6A school from Alabama.
  5. I actually sat on the visitor side with 8 to 10 Jasper fans. Most wanted to just see a good game. Most knew that Whitwell was over hyped as well.
  6. He played football for Jasper his entire life. Dad was an MC graduate. Already talk of him coming back to Jasper. He is a good kid and would be a good qb for the Pirates.
  7. First time seeing Whitwell. I'm glad I didn't believe the hype.
  8. I understand now. Pirates have had quite a few kids that have moved in that have been QBs. The LV kid now and I would think the kid that transferred from Jasper would likely be right behind him if he stays.
  9. In the Marion game he made some terrible decisions. Heard before the season started that he was the best coach in the region. I honestly don't see that.
  10. I've seen most of Forrests games this year. I like Mitchell and think he is a very good back especially to be so young. I was more impressed with him than the Fields kid last year. Just have to get bigger and more experience and should be ok. Going to 3A won't help but it is what it is if you have no control over it.
  11. Do the Rockets still have the same DC they've had the past few years? In last years game I think Forrest had bigger and older players that helped keep that game close. In '22 Marion was playing with sophomores and they just weren't that good yet. As for Friday night you could see from the stands that if they weren't going to double #4 he was going to keep getting fed. #8 had a very good game as well rushing for over 100yds and 2 TDs. #3 had a few carries and scored 2 long TDs. Other than the drive at the end of the 1st qtr that netted a FG and a drive in the 4th against the jv Marion's defense dominated the game. Coaching decisions were made that I didn't agree with but Palmer knew what he had to do I guess. No way I go for it on 4th down on the first drive at midfield. I wouldn't have kicked an onside kick after the FG that made it 14-10. The fake punt inside their own 30 in the 2nd qtr actually cost them 2 TDs. Scoring in 2 plays and then the Rockets feeling like they had to get the ball downfield with less than a min to go in the half led to a pick 6. I think Mitchell being out didn't help but it wouldn't have changed the outcome. Just have to heal up and get in the playoffs because it's a brand new season then.
