Riverside brings back 19 out of 22 starters that was a 2 pt conversion away at the end of the state championship last year from forcing an OT and winning because Tyner was gassed and done for. I realize each year is different but with the experience returning and Riverside physical play it’s hard to bet against them. I don’t think any team they have faced in the playoffs has scored more than 1 offensive td.  Two of those teams had mr football finalist. Nothing against ER’s Rb as he is as good as they get. It will be a fun one to watch for sure and best of luck to both teams.

Won’t be the first time this year ER faced smith with 10 returning starters on both sides of the ball from last year. Smith is a good ball club. Went tot to toe against upperman for 4 quarters. Actually should have won the game. Upperman is playing for a gold ball in 4A

Both teams had six 15-yard penalties. That does not count the off-setting penalties for the fist altercation in the middle of the field or on the sideline (where the coach supposedly put their hands on a York player). This flag on the sideline was uncalled for. The line judge where the tackle happened did not throw the flag it was the side judge that was 15 yards down the field who threw the flag. Legal hit in bounds and they got jumped on the sideline by ER. The fight where fists were thrown was players defending their fellow players (not saying that was legal or right so don't call me classless) but #0 for ER did the same thing and wasn't penalized or thrown out for it. End of the day, the penalty count was even. York had two PF and ejections in the fight and ER only had one but should have been two with the body slam by 0 of ER. So if we are going to call a spade a spade let's do it right. York plays hard nose D and flies to the football...the old saying is "Hit you in the mouth and take your lunch money," but I guess everybody eats free and reduced lunch nowadays.

You left out the part where #5 gator rolled #1 trying to break his leg. #0 got him off by pushing him. I’ve never seen a town or football team in such Denial. I’m sure there is some fine people in Jamestown but a few is ruining that. The things I saw in FB over the weekend explains it all. Unbelievable. Go get your lay ups and free throws in.

I agree I dont think he is either thats why I said disregarding my argument of how talented some actually are because hes way more impressive in shorts and shirts than when the lights come on but 6’4’’ 210 and athletic as heck sells easily lol UK loses nothing if he doesnt develop the way they want he’ll get the boot and hit the transfer portal like alot of them do. 2 robco guys that went to SEC schools in last 2 years will never actually play at that level one is transferring and the other will be soon. Just the landscape of it right now and covid year didn’t help these young guys who got there.

I saw one game this year where I said he was legit and that was Smith County two weeks ago. Rest have been hit or miss

In TN hes got the 2nd ranked player in the 24’ class 15th in 25’ and top 5 in 26’. All with SEC offers another that will get SEC offers and several more with FCS offers. Disregarding my argument of the validity of their actual talent its really almost unheard of in public school ball much less 2A.  You have to win it all or you failed as a coach imo. Talent isn't everything but its always the driving factor. Going to be a great game. Riverside is tough and experienced with good talent and ER is ultra athletic with good line play. Going to be a great 2A matchup

I agree for the most part. Still trying fill out 8 or 9 more on my he field is tuff. ER is sophomore heavy with a freshman QB. You can see at times the youth. Now if this was a JR/SR class heavy absolutely

Marion & York didn't play the hardest schedule this year. Marion had a couple of close calls against less talented teams. I think ER could open it up a little more on Offense but their HC has them playing hard and he plays to their strengths. I haven't seen Riverside but it is hard for me to believe that any team in 2A is just head and shoulders better talent wise than ER.

How many kids did Riverside return from last year?

I really don’t know how many is returning I’ve read they got alot of seniors. Their schedule is tougher than ER no doubt . It’s definitely going to be a tall task for ER to pull this off due to being so young.

I'm a Marion County fan, I know what the "Experts" said, but if you talked to anybody that had watched both teams especially late in the season, ER was hands down the favorite. I might be in the minority on this, but I think ER had the talent advantage against all 3 of those teams with Marion being the closest, but there was a clear gap.

I understand I was just answering the question. Marion was undefeated, Smith already beat ER once, York was undefeated. ER was picked to lose on the road to all 3.

Again, if East doesn't have better players than everyone else they wouldn't be close. Their talent is so elite they can overcome most teams. When a player quits at half makes a facebook post about hes leaving and hes back in 2 weeks it speaks volumes! If willy ray the backup center would have have done that would Brooks have let him back on? Don't think so. Brooks isn't the HC the Groves run that roost! Brooks is just paper coach. Seen both teams play. If East plays clean they win. If they play like they have all year Riverside rolls!

So false! I know of a few kids that quit and he let them come back.

No doubt on his success but great coaches are judged in games where you’re not favored by 35 lol if he wins this one he’ll have nudged me a good bit. Having watched him many times like you his schemes and team discipline are terrible. There are not many public schools in any class with this much talent so just winning games is not good enough its gold ball or nothing in a perfect storm like this.

Second year head coach playing for state. Not sure what else East could ask for!

Let's say you're an ER parent. You're watching your kid get punched kicked late hit.  You gonna tell him to stand down or defend himself?

100% agree. I thought ER handled it well until they tried to twist #1 ankle off . That was the icing on the cake. Especially when there’s like 6-8 players that’s blood to him

Hope the TSSAA goes over this with a fine toothed comb.  Its obvious York is dirty and its got to be taught. May need to be put on house arrest. One of their kids last week told another kid to stand our running back up so he could Kill him. I'm sure he didn't want to Kill him but would love to injure him. Classless is putting it mild. These are kids with lives ahead of them.

I read you and @crow post all week. Thought maybe it was just a couple games being dirty. Boy was i wrong

I get it but here is the thing. ER has been mouthing off and acting out all year long. It’s about every game. All teams jaw back and forth but ER has to know when they are up 35-7 to not throw a punch. Doesn’t matter what the other team does. You can’t throw hands and hurt your team in the state championship game. That is just stupid on the player and there is no sugar coating it. Not saying York is not guilty of playing dirty. Again I haven’t watched it yet but regardless you have to be smarter. Hope Groves is not seriously out next Friday. I am just keeping it real.

None of them are out. Watch the game and get back to us.

Yes, York is the type of football team that plays to the whistle and will hit you in the mouth. I get it people don’t like to get hit in the mouth, so let’s pull out the flags and just play flag football. York lost their composure tonight in the second tussle, but the first go around was totally uncalled for and ER should be held accountable. #48 made a clean tackle on 1 on their sideline and they didn’t like it cause again he got hit in the mouth. Proud of the York Dragons on a 13-1 season…best in school history.

    Ok. Congrats!

ER lived up to their reputation tonight. If they pull that next Friday they will get their eye balls beat in on the field. I am just keeping it real

Well Biggums I couldn’t agree more! But. They did a pretty good job containing the dirty play all night until the end. When York tired to Rip #1 leg off it went bad. They plays DISCIPLINE football like they did against Smith County it will be a great game. Which Smith didn’t try and play dirty and it was a good game.
