Macon will matchup with Chatt Central more so than the other two. May have a chance against Central, but the other two should not have a problem with Macon if your scouting report is accurate.

Macon will be fine in the secondary should they pass. Their problem is physicality on the edges and our line being undersized. Upperman will ride to round 3 at least. Macon is capable of winning, but we have come out flat the last few games. How many WingT teams have the Chattanooga teams played. Sometimes the misdirection will give superior athletic teams issues if they get caught watching the backfield and not reading their keys.

We did throw it some, but everything was off boot action and Brooks had very little time. Also, throw on first down and not second or third and long. FYI, nobody is biting on the boot fake on 3rd and 12. Smith was playing a very soft zone. We could have went double tight and kept everyone in and just thrown stops all night long. The fact is we couldn’t protect Brooks, but there were never any adjustments made to help our line out. Again, I can’t fault the players. They were severely out manned in the trenches, but keep a wing in to help or go double tight. Brooks is 6’4” tall, he doesn’t need to be rolled out to see the field. If we will give him time, Houston or Wix either one will get open against soft zone defense. All I heard about before the season is our great results in passing league… where are those plays at?

Quality wins doesn’t mean those teams are worth anything. Those are the only teams that were remotely capable of beating Macon, the rest were cupcakes. With that being said, we caught them all early. It seems like we are getting worse as the year goes along, while others are improving (Smith). Portland will be 1 and done in the playoffs. I expect Dekalb and Stone to be as well. If Macon doesn’t win a round 1 playoff game against this other weak region, then we all have to agree this team massively underachieved. That has to fall back on Shoulders. He has a Ferrari type offense and runs it like a pinto.

Agreed. We got manhandled up front and rightfully so. Smith County is huge. Our advantage was at WR against their shaky secondary. We did throw a couple of picks, but those were mostly play action boot type plays. We should have went max protection and let Houston have a field day against that Swiss cheese secondary. The season has been good record wise, but we haven’t beaten anyone worth a darn. I thought Shoulders was the type of coach to take inferior talent and play up. Instead, he took a more talented team and blew it against Smith. If he does go to Oakland, I don’t know that we lose anything. The JR high coach could step right in and be an upgrade.

I had heard the same thing about Shoulders being linked to Oakland. I also heard he was taking the Borders twins with him.

Agreed! It is hard to complete passes in the wing-t when you only throw on third and long. ER stacked the box and most times had 11 guys within 5-7 yards of the ball. Of course, they would back off on 2nd or 3rd and long. Shoulders would do Brooks and the offense a huge favor by being a bit more unpredictable.

Low scoring affair that may come down to who makes their extra points. I am going to say a 14-13 kind of score. This one could go either way. Macon wins if Brooks has a big night. If Westy doesn’t allow a TD pass or two, then they probably win at home.

Very sloppy game. Macon did what they had to do and ground out a victory. Both sides played hard and East suited up more players than the Tigers. They didn’t appear to be missing anyone. The East Robertson coaching staff should be arrested for coaching malpractice. That team is loaded with talent and should be a contender in 2A. Hats off to the East Robertson players. You did everything you could, but couldn’t overcome your atrocious coaching. Shoulders did a great job of getting the win and not showing a whole lot. I look for #1 and #7 to be more involved in the game plan next week. MC and Westmoreland is going to be a slugfest.
