  1. I understand what you’re implying and agree somewhat. The conversation just gets old. I hear it everywhere especially after Alcoa wins. While I agree that the playoff competition could be a little more entertaining and more money for the school, the results would still be the same in the end. The goal is to be playing your best ball come playoff time and playing good competition beforehand can prepare teams for deep runs. Alcoa has been scheduling and beating good higher classification teams for years now. Those games prepared them to do what they have done in the postseason. Why cant the teams in their classification not follow the same path to success? CAK found a way to beat them years ago. So did CPA. Covington gave them all they wanted. And this East Nashville team playec Alcoa as well as anyone! So its not impossible to win. Alcoa is just a victim of its own success sadly. I cant wait until we move up to 4A in another year so ppl can find something else to complain about.
  2. Its a shame that people continue to try and discredit Alcoa for dominating a classification their enrollment puts them in. Correct me if Im wrong but if/when Alcoa moves up to 4A to satisfy everyone wouldnt they be moving up in the other sports as well?
  3. First off congrats to all the state championship teams and hats off to the runner ups! Had alot of fun watching most of these games! With that said, why in the world is there so much hate for Alcoa? I’ve seen it everywhere. Its getting ridiculous lol
  4. New here as an actual poster to the T but I’ve followed this message board for a few years. Always loved the threads regarding these high school football games we all love to see. I am a former Alcoa player that played on the 2005 and 2006 championship teams and graduated in 2008 with Randall Cobb. Just giving a little info of relationship and ties to the Alcoa program. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I wanted to share my thoughts on the game last night. I watched on my phone while at my sons little league football practice. While I agree that “some” of the penalties called on Alcoa were legit. There were a few that had me scratching my head and I dare say downright infuriating. Especially with the timing of the flags. They were drive killers!!! Honestly you can throw a flag on every play in little league, middle school, high school up to the nfl if you are going to penalize some of the blocks I watched. With that said Alcoa did shoot themselves in the foot and showed some uncharacteristic and undisciplined play at times and that can happen to a team when they’ve been punched in the mouth unexpectedly. They responded and got out of there with a win. Hats off to West. They showed me alot last night. Good game. Spotty officiating but good. Game nonetheless
