  1. I know that now. But I didn’t know that at the start of the Pearl-Cohn game. I didn’t know that at the start of the Haywood game. I didn’t know that until the overtime interception at the state championship game. What do I know? The odds are against the Cats but anything can happen.
  2. I watched the Tullahoma vs Haywood county game last night. It was 2 years ago. There were things that happened in that game that changed the outcome. Haywood county stacked up in several ways as the favorite. They only lost by 26 points. This Tullahoma team isn’t that team. But things happen in games that change how you planned to play the game. Has Page started every set of downs from their own 20 all night long? Have they had punts stay up in the air so long that eight guys are there to make the tackle? Have they given up a 58 yards field goal? They haven’t played a team this year that only allowed 10 points a game. So what they have been doing may not be what they get to do tonight and that’s where teams get into trouble. If Tullahoma runs the ball, screen passes and punts to control the field position while the defense upsets Pages offense then they got a shot at this. It gets harder for the good teams in the playoffs too. Ask Betsy about it.
  3. Not really. I still think it’s 11 kids on 11 kids. 2 years ago not many people thought Tullahoma would beat Pearl Cohn ,twice. The Haywood county folks felt really good about their chances with the cats. And Betsy after taking care of business with Greenville knew they were getting a state championship. But in the end 11 kids showed up and got it done. A good quarterback helps but lots of teams win without one. This isn’t 2021 and the stars won’t align for Tullahoma like they did 2 years ago. And after the fiasco at Shelbyville last week I have to concede this one to the Knights regardless of who takes the snaps. I hate to see it end for a team that showed moments of greatness this season. The second half of the Rockvale game was one we will all remember. But the consistency to get past this Friday I’m afraid is long lost.
  4. The school AD might have helped out
  5. 31 minutes into this game and Tullahoma still has zero offensive points
  6. This is really a good test game for both these teams as we know the matchups next week are the best teams they have seen yet. I mean Shelbyville did play Marshall county but other than that they need to both step it up or Region 5-5 A is one and done this season in the playoffs.
  7. Special teams could be the difference here. I'll bet Shelbyville hasn't started every drive at their own 20 every time this year. I'm sure they have had some pretty good kickoff returns to help get those high point totals. One of the reasons Tullahoma has only allowed 99 points all season. When you have to go 80 yards all night long you run out of options. And they may have been in some games where they wore down a defence up into the game. I haven't seen our defence slow down at all in the fourth quarter. Not sure they Golden Eagles can do what they've been doing for a full 48 minutes. I think Tullahoma will get them off their game plan pretty early and they will struggle to get back on track. I look for a very low scoring game played in the middle of the field most of the night. The punting edge goes to Tullahoma and I think if it comes down to it, the field goal game goes to Tullahoma also. We haven't made them all but we might just make the one that counts in a low scoring game.
  8. Spring Hill high has the worst lit football field I have ever seen.
  9. I got Tullahoma over Shelbyville. The golden eagles have given up 184 points to opponents so far. Tullahoma has given up 92 points. The difference in the defence alone makes this a mismatch on paper. The Lawrence county game on Friday was a telling sign that Shelbyville isn't ready for prime time just yet. The Tullahoma defence will be much more of a factor than Lawrence county was. After listening to last Friday nights game I honestly thought that Tullahoma would have had the mercy clock running on the Golden Eagles. I wasn't this confident in week 2 but now that things have sorted themselves out I have Tullahoma as region champs and winning at least 2 playoff games this season. They make it past Hillsboro and one more region 6 team before hitting a wall. I hope they surprise me and i have to make the long drive to Henry County to settle the west.
  10. So If Tullahoma beats Shelbyville in the final game of the regular season does the picture change? Do Shelbyville and Tullahoma have a chance to play a second round? Other than the Stewarts creek game in week one and the fluke loss to a Franklin county team that even they don't know how they won it, Tullahoma hasn't been challenged. The first half of the Rockvale game went to Rockvale but the second half was the Tullahoma team we see today. I like the Wildcats chances of seeing at least a 3rd week in the playoffs and then the competition might get the best of them. A few of these kids on this team were on the State championship team in 2021.
  11. Kinda wish this was being played in Mcminnville. I remember something about fried baloney at the concession stand. I do hope the damp conditions don't mess the W.C. Dub "Cooper" field up as we need it to host some playoff games in 4 weeks. The pioneer bowl has a great atmosphere for a game though. I know their coach is pushing for a new field at the high school off the bypass.
  12. One thing for sure. Should Tullahoma make it to the playoffs whoever their opponent is will not be able to prepare for the opponent. Because even we don’t know which team will show up from one week to the next.
