  1. The defense caused them to be held to less than 20 on seven occasions? Interesting. And the defense caused them to forfeit due to an ineligible player? How about the blatant cheating that forced the board to remove him from the program? Not a surprise that they improved when he left.
  2. Absolutely agree, West Knoxville football is better when HVA is competitive. I do think Potter will add a ton of experience to Josh’s staff on the defensive side. He will need the help.
  3. Not taking anything away from Josh, but we all know who runs the offense at Powell. And… you would’ve had to be a moron to not be successful with the talent on that roster. He has such a small sample size because of his inexperience, but he didn’t exactly light it up at CAK in 2018. Not to mention having to vacate a win, and being asked to leave.
  4. Pretty clear that the Jeff Miner hire is a home run compared to Jones. He’s been a high school coach for nearly two decades at one of the premier programs in the state. Jones has been a little league coach for the bulk of his “career” He’s only coached high school football for four years. Seems to me like HVA was willing to make things happen to get their guy. Bearden was hamstrung into hiring a community coach like it’s inner-city memphis.
  5. KCS has approved the hire of a bookie to run one of the largest programs in the area. Wow. I have truly seen it all!
  6. If true, sad day for the coaching profession in KCS. I am glad I got out when I did.
  7. Not taking anything away from Josh, but we all know who the real offensive mastermind is at Powell. The guy in the big seat. I think that Derek Dooley could take those boys at Powell and be an "offensive powerhouse." All scheme looks good when you have superior talent.
  8. Yes I understand he was the OC for Mozingo. They struggled mightily from looking at the scores. I was wondering if anyone had the story on how he got there, what happened and why he left. I always thought a place like that would be a good fit for him or a Kevin Lane type.
  9. What happened at CAK in 2018 when Jones was OC?
  10. This sets a dangerous precedent for the hiring of head football coaches in KCS. Basically they are saying that your level of education, background in the field of education and experience working with kids is irrelevant. This guy could quit in May and leave this team high and dry for an opportunity to coach rec league again. My boy would not play in a program like that. Sad day for KCS athletics.
  11. Where did @dawgs82 go? He was the man with the inside knowledge. Any intelligence on this hire?
  12. Is this the Bearden equivalent of the infamous Schiano Sunday? Wow!
  13. Page 43 of 2021-2022 TSSAA Handbook: Q. Can a non-faculty coach or a classified employee be a head coach? A. Yes. Provided they have successfully completed the NFHS “Fundamentals of Coaching” and “First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches” courses OR the ASEP Coaches Education Course in a TSSAA-approved course combined with the TSSAA Online Coaches Training Session prior to May 15, 2013 and have been proper submitted to the TSSAA office.
  14. Does a HFC have to be a classified employee in the school building?
  15. I will come back and eat crow if I am wrong, but you would think that KCS would require him to at the very least be involved in the building as a TA in order to approve the hire. Who will manage all of the academics/discipline/culture/recruiting/etc during the school day while JJ is out doing... well whatever he does during the day?
  16. So... is this JJ thing like real? I heard a week ago that this was going to be Rusty Bradley. I apologize for spreading the false report. Wow.
  17. I see what you did there, Ed.
  18. He should contend for another title at Powell next year. That would be very tough to leave, I imagine.
  19. Yes. Second interview is tomorrow. He better bring a QB with him because BHS hasn’t had one since Ironside.
  20. They interviewed four candidates on Saturday and fell behind so they decided to split the panel into two parts to get through the interviews faster (wow would be an understatement). Bradley and an out of state candidate have their second interviews today. I don't see them drifting from Bradley since this is what the booster club has wanted since October from what I have been told. This will be done before school is done for the term on 12/17.
  21. Scott is no longer interested in the Bearden position and never really was from what I have heard. He did not interview for the position. Rusty is a serious candidate from what I have been told. Pickins are slim for this job.
