Oh if we’re talking 2 schools that may be even worse. Dresden jumps to 2A with 120 more students. Westview with 150 new could possibly also land in 2A depending on the year. So now they’d be competing against each other, and I sure don’t like Dresden(gleasons) shot vs Westview(greenfield). But either way what you’ve done is taken approximately 60 girls who have shown they compete at their levels and dropped it to 30. So you’ve actually taken opportunities away from capable girls as opposed to making them more successful, which is debatable at best.

Girls basketball would be “greatly improved?” The senior girls in Weakley County have a combined 7 state tourney appearances, 2 gold balls, an undefeated season that wasn’t finished, and another season in the state semis that wasn’t finished. Tell me how girls basketball would be “greatly improved”? You would have 15 girls being very successful in class 3 or 4a. And 45 girls that would have been successful not playing basketball anymore.

So I went and did the math, since it seems the consensus is the games are so much worse now. I took the average score from all the public school games classes 1-4 over the past 2 years. And then I did classes 1-3 in 2018 and 2019. No tourney in 2020 and then didn’t want not having Memphis and other factors to skew 2021. So the last 2 true years with only 3 classes and this is what I got: 2022: 65.3-51 14.3 differential 2021: 63.5-52 11.5 differential 2019: 68.5-54.3 14.2 differential 2018: 66.8-53.3 13.5 differential So in conclusion, is it really that much worse? Or are we being prisoners of the moment?

The funny thing about that is, by all accounts this years Middleton’s team is better than last years team. And last years team beat Peabody 3 out of 4 times. And the last 2 both by double digits. “Basketball math” doesn’t always work, but that same Peabody team beat Clay co, so I think Middleton would have a very good chance at the least. And they lost to MAHS by 4. With this being a better team I say they beat those 3 for sure this year. East Robertson would have been a tough game, no doubt. But a good one.

Wow, I had to do the math on this 1000 kids in the HS would equate to 250 per grade. In a K-12, that would be 3,250 kids. When you factor in the 0-4 year olds, that’s approximately another 1000 kids in the town. So that is over 4000 kids in a town of 5000. I’m not sure your numbers quite make any sense.

I’m sorry, but you keep saying they “only won 1 gold ball”. You do realize that they were undefeated winning games by over 30 ppg when their season was ended in the state tourney by Covid? Idk that anyone says it’s the best 4 year run by a team ever. Even though it was pretty dang good. 123-13, 3 state tourneys, 1 gold ball, and an undefeated season that wasn’t finished. The only difference in them and those Gibson county teams, was Gibson county got to play 2 more games. I actually think them and those Gibson co teams would be a great game. But to say Greenfield would finish 4th in that district is dumbfounding.

Lol makes no sense. If you don’t lose there is no tie breaker. And I can say the exact same thing. Don’t like a coin toss? Simple just don’t lose and you won’t have one.

And when I say you HAVE to, obviously I know the coaches have things in place. That’s just my opinion on how it should be ran. Not that anyone cares lol

Here is an argument against points. So top 2 teams are playing in final game of season. We’ll use SS and SGC as examples. SS wins first game by 8. Also details in the game, is 4 points with 30 seconds, but SGC plays the foul game and loses by 8. Fair game. Now in the final game of season, SS goes in know they don’t have to win, they only have to lose by 7 or less. Not a big deal, bc you could argue they earned it. But now they’re down 4 points with 30 seconds left, and they just decide to give up to protect the seeding. You are hurting the integrity of the game. Can you truly argue that SS was better based off points? Or did they just have the better opportunity of knowing what they needed? And also, it shouldn’t matter with top teams, but you would have to cap the spread at 20 point blowouts, way to many variable happen to skew scores after that.

I didn’t say anything negative about the “superstar”. She is a legit superstar for this area. You’re the one that tried to discredit Edie, without saying her name. The fact is, no team in this area has ever had the type of talent that Greenfield team had, especially in recent memory. WV will beat Greenfield most years. But for that 3 year stretch, it was all Greenfield, not even close either. You just don’t seem to understand what that kinda talent does, especially in small school basketball. If you have 3 players like that (and 2 others that had offers as well) it doesn’t matter what you’re 7-10 does. Just look at what finally got WV over the hump? Same type of a team that they normally have, except having a legit stud outs you over the top. Now imagine 3 of them.

You didn’t say a name but it’s obvious who you were talking about. So are you not gonna talk abt that ignorant comment you made that she’s D2 or naia? You didn’t know she was offered by the same school that the WV superstar is going to?

I know you are desperately wanting to throw shade at ppl who accomplished things you never could, but you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. Edie was offered by the same top 25 team that Jada Harrison and Savannah Davis are going to. She also had plenty other D1 offers. And you really think Coach T, thinks his team of college players couldn’t beat Westview? Are you delusional?

Had to go back and look, bc you had me confused. In 2020 Gibson Co beat Westview by 9. That same Gibson co team lost by 30 and 20 to Greenfield. Wouldn’t have been a close game at all. Talking about depth? Greenfield had 3 power 5 players, 2 that were either D2 or NAIA, just chose not to play. And then bench was loaded. As good of a team that west Tennessee has seen.

This is hilarious. What are yall doing to get ready for the game? I'm not talking about the team; I'm talking about you and the other posters. Are they calling yall in this week for extra coaching? All hands on deck?

Yes, and JCM moved up as well. I think that was the only changes in West Tennessee. Here recently it's been MAHS and MASE representing Memphis, with MAHS closing that potentially makes it a little easier in sub state, but I'm sure somebody down there will step up and take their place.

Curious how they got robbed of a gold ball? They lost 35-0. As for instant front runners, there is likely to be 2 teams in their region that they’re 3-7 against each over the past 10 years. Automatically put Trenton over them, and Huntingdon has had their number as well.

Depending on how districts turn out could matter, but overall, I don't think it changes much. Swapping Union City for Trenton is only major change. Union City is probably going to be more consistent year and year out, but that's still going to be the perennial team to beat, along with Middleton.
