They better hope for a favorable reclassification next cycle or it’s going to be a long haul in 3A. Fun fact: the older Simpson won 5 playoff games in 4 years as a starter at Westview, all 5 coming in his senior year! Zero wins over Covington, Milan, and South Gibson in that span. That district was tough! That purple team down there will almost always have something to say about who gets to play for 2nd in the Alcoa bowl.

4 years is long commitment for a guy that lasted less then 12 months the last time he was in Martin and don’t say he will stay for the QB, he had one last time as well. Better hope for a favorable reclassification the next cycle, silver balls come pretty frequently for a lot of teams in that class.

Transfer portal is 100% hurting high school athletes. Let's say a 4 star player out of high school goes to a power 5 school and doesn't get to play for 2 years, he transfers to a top 25 team who has a sophomore 3 star. That 3 star transfers to a top FCS school who has a sophomore 2 star who then transfers to a lower level FCS school and takes the spot historically filled by a good high school senior. Western Kentucky only took two high school players last recruiting class and Central Arkansas took none. Lots of good high school athletes will now be really good intramural athletes in college.

Man, those are some big accusations. Have you done any research to find out what might have happened for enrollment to go down 110 from 2016 to 2020? Has the population gone down? Maybe a factory shut down, or a private school opened in Martin, or homeschool numbers went up, or the fact that it is a rural community with no industry and the university is the county’s largest employer with lots of turnover in the workforce. Maybe kids left to go play sports at other schools? I know nothing about the area but a quick search may give some insight. Or maybe it is just sour grapes? A silver ball is an accomplishment that tons of schools would love to have, don’t diminish it by being shallow and petty by making any imaginable excuse as to why your team lost.

It really doesn't matter, if they were still 3A then MAHS would have delivered the pounding in the championship game.

Enrollment for the other 3 Gleason-134 (one of the top 5 smallest football playing schools in the state) Greenfield-166 (also one of the smallest) Dresden-339 Looks like there were already not many people living in these towns, I doubt you would see very much fluctuation in enrollment numbers when they are already that low.

Dang, it didn't take those loser blues long to kick in. Less than a week after the game and now the other team cheated on enrollment to get a gold ball? Maybe y'all gave them the same half effort y'all gave ole Daniel Boone himself when you took it easy on us? Is there any real knowledge on the demographics, economic situation, or actual facts about that town to support your whining? Or just working that loser limp for all it's worth? If your team spent as much time preparing as some of you do making excuses and dogging a high school football player maybe they wouldn't have gotten blown out of the stadium. I watched the game and Westview wins that game 100 times out of 100 and it wasn't just #6, they were better at every position on both sides of the ball.

Ole Daniel Boone himself is thankful for the half effort and the easy win. I guess that does prove the “lay down in a game if there is something bigger coming in the future”. When y’all give full effort and beat the brakes off them better move quick to get the goal posts down, I have heard they are only allowing teams 5 minutes on the field after the game.
