  1. Mr. Williamson, We know that you are enjoying your retirement and free time after a long and grueling NFL career. We know that you are pursuing various business ventures in West TN. We also know that you are already working as a position coach at a school that is 15 minutes from us, but strangely not at your alma mater (but no hard feelings, right?) How would you like to give all that up and come work for perhaps the most unrealistic and disgruntled fanbases west of the TN river? We are sure that that the high level of stress and pressure this opportunity will bring will pale in comparison to the pride and joy you will bring to our Milan community (until you lose too many games). We are looking forward to celebrating your return (and then calling for your firing after you drop the week 9 game to Peabody.) Warm Regards, Milan Booster Club
  2. Can't wait for that Mount Juliet Christian School and FRA region matchup. That's going to be some compelling football. Boyd Buchanan and The King's Academy slugging it out for a mid-October battle for playoff positioning.
  3. I forgot about Baldwin. I would agree. He is probably the best RB returning. I feel like he’s been playing for 6 years already. Columbia will certainly be a contender. That’s a program with a lot of momentum right now.
  4. USJ in 2020? Regardless, what people have said in the past doesn’t really affect my claim for this up coming season. That’s a strange line of logic. Trinity has the best RB in the division, a style of play that translates to the playoffs, and a coach who has done it before. JCS has the best player in the division, and the best quarterback. Seems like solid ground to say that one of those teams will win it with all the other question marks around the state. but of course it’s all guesswork at this point. I was just trying to get the thread back on track.
  5. Gold ball ends up in Jackson, TN next year. Just not sure which school. Both will be very talented and well-coached. If Mosley doesn’t get hurt this year the gold ball is more than likely there right now. There was no team in D2A stopping that.
  6. I’ve heard conflicting reports about Westview. How did they look?
  7. You make good points. I remember running the veer in HS, being very successful at it. Lots of great teams have won lots of games running that offense. TCA is a small private school in an area where there are a lot of good football programs and a limited number of high level skill players. If I’m an 8th grader, what’s more appealing: an offense that my grandad ran when he was in HS, or an offense I see on TV on Saturdays? If I want to play college ball some day (any level) do I want to be developed in ways that translate to the next level, or do I want to play in a system that very few college programs run. if I’m a basketball or baseball guy who the coach has talked into coming out for football, do I really want to play football in a phone booth or do I want to play in space with my natural athleticism. the option offense can work for many schools, but for TCA to compete they need the athletes mentioned above. Coach Butler understood this, and that’s why you saw elite athletes come through there playing in his system. Not saying new coach won’t be successful, I think he can and probably will. But football has changed. You may not like it, I may not like it, but the fact remains the same. trying not to suck, or be stupid.
  8. honestly interested in how much interest this job garnered during the search. The whole process was kept very quiet. Seems like it would be an appealing job: solid returning roster, good community support, etc. I would imagine that Fayette Academy would at least reap some of the rewards of the big Ford plant moving in down the road as well.
  9. this is just water-cooler talk I've heard from dads, but is there any chance they pursue either of the two private school coaches already in town?
  10. wolves and bears don't typically fight outright, but they still compete for the same food. think the same thing could possibly be said about the Eagles and the Pups
  11. ECS doesn't give a rat's rear end about USJ. ECS has 5 gold balls sitting in a trophy case. They care about what Lausanne is doing, what Briarcrest is doing. If USJ was the measuring stick for Coach Adams then that's probably why he got asked to leave. Maybe Coach Adams should throw his name in the hat at USJ. Could be a good fit.
  12. The far and away favorite for A will be NCS as long as that quarterback is there. Outside of them, I think it's more wide open than ever before. DCA and Friendship lost talented players to transfer, USJ moves up to AA. West will be decided when JCS and Trinity play in October NCS obliterates everyone in middle MTCS wins East this year. AA-CPA and FRA...Lausanne as dark horse AAA-Usual Suspects
  13. the freak under center for them right at this moment
  14. Wasn't Columbia Academy leading JCS at half in their game earlier this year? Before the game got cancelled for storms? I agree with y'all, that one might be interesting.
  15. I honestly cannot tell if you are being serious. If Alabama goes undefeated in the SEC and loses three non-conference games, then they are still making the SEC championship game, which is directly related to how many SEC games they win. Much like how making the TSSAA playoffs is directly related to how many games you win in your region. The college football playoffs is not even close to a good comparison here.
  16. A very nuanced and well reasoned argument. Let’s explore a hypothetical situation that I will try to keep at least semi realistic. next year USJ will be sharing a region with Lausanne, ECS, Northpoint, and St George. That leaves six non-region games to be filled. To prove the Coach T public school truthers wrong, USJ schedules Milan, Union City, Peabody, Huntingdon, South Side, and Hardin County. Let’s say they are competitive in all those games, but end up dropping them all except South Side. Then they lose to Lausanne. #2 seed in their region, get to host first two rounds of playoffs. Still not worthy of a playoff spot?
  17. .500 in region play? Absolutely, can totally get behind that. Fail to see how a team's games outside of region should affect their playoff standing, though.
  18. I guess a 13 point loss to the 2 seed in the east counts as a beat down. Also, put up significantly more yardage against Union City than USJ did. I know it wasn't a close game...but that was never my original argument was it? Just said their offense was dangerous. The fact they played JC close just proves my point of teams getting better as the year goes on. If our goal is to have entertaining playoff games, then excluding teams who struggled earlier in the season and now have turned it on seems counter-intuitive. And of course I don't live in the real world. I'm commenting on a CoachT message board.
  19. I agree with you that there always seems to be a few teams that back their way into a playoff spot and have no business going to play a higher seed. However, making a blanket statement like this is just silly. What about a team that starts tons of young players and who started out slow and progressively got better as the season went on? I'm sure that coaching staff is excited about the opportunity for his young players to get playoff experience and see what it takes to win in the post-season, even if it means getting thumped in the process. What about the seniors on that 4-6 team, who get to go wear that jersey one more time and represent their school and go play one more football game before their career is over for good? What about a team like Trinity Christian, who will likely finish the year at 4-6. Played a tough out of region schedule, but will be a 3-seed and might could cause some problems for some higher seeded teams depending on who they draw. Maybe one of the more dangerous offenses in D2-A this year. You keeping them out?
  20. any updates on this? Is it true that old OC went with Stidham? If so, will SG try to bring somebody in to run a similar offense? I was always a big fan of what they did on that side of the ball.
  21. yes, heard they dropped the Davidson game.
  22. I agree with previous commenter that there is a lot of unknown that could happen this off-season, but too-early predictions are fun. Just based on talent theoretically coming back: A-JCS/USJ AA-CPA/Lipscomb AAA-McCallie/Briarcrest
  23. whoever the new coach is...you get to start your tenure off with Davidson , JCS, Franklin Road, DCA, Boyd, catch your breath with Mt. Juliet, and then Nashville Christian. That's 3 solid to really good D2AA schools, the two schools who just played for a gold ball in D2A, and another school in JCS who will likely be competitive in that division next year. Brutal schedule. Hope expectations are tempered for whoever comes in.
  24. I know it wasn't Nashville Christian's day, but man these were two really impressive teams. Lots of talent on both sidelines. Congratulations to DCA. From everything I have heard, they had to overcome a lot of adversity to get to this point. Always glad to see stories like that.
