Just curious why everybody is ranking University low.. looking at scores, they played a 1 run game with coalfield. From what I heard, they were also leading in the 7th and blew the lead. Don’t get me wrong, I probably wouldn’t pick them as a favorite either, but I also don’t know much about the West Tennessee teams. McKenzie and Peabody looked like they played a close game. Peabody looks better than Bradford, and ER and Eagleville looked like they played a close series but early in the year. Jo Byrns looks similar to ER based on scores. Looks to me like there could be a lot of parody at this tournament.

Which 8 teams do you pick to go to state and what do you predict they will do down there. Here are the substate matchups: Greenback at University North Greene at Coalfield East Robertson at South Pittsburg Lookout Valley at Jo Byrns ? at Eagleville Richland at McKenzie/Hollow Rock-Bruceton ? at Peabody Bradford at Lakeland Prep

From the east side of the state I would say I would pick Coalfield and University High. University should host substate against Greenback and Coalfield should host Hampton again. University graduated 8 starters and has some growing pains but they look like they should breeze through district 1 and 2. Hampton looks like the other team to come out of region 1 but they are not good. There’s just nobody else. Maybe North Green can compete with them. Coalfield looks like they could be the favorites to win it all. Returning everybody helps a lot. They had a good comeback against university in a very well played single A baseball game. It would surprise me if it is not those 2 teams returning to the state tournament from region 1 and 2.

What do you all think about NG throwing the game? To me it was obvious that they weren't playing to win and it backfired. That UH team is a big mystery as well. They are very talented, but it depends what night whether they show up to play or not. I know its one loss, but maybe Hampton isn't as good as we thought they were. What wins show me that they can compete at the state tournament? Do we think both UH and Hampton go to the state tournament this year?

Honestly, what more do you want from the guy? They are in a lull yes and the talent is a bit down yes, but its not like he can recruit better players (legally). He has taken NG to the state tournament multiple times, even winning games in the Boro. What more do you want from him or who would you replace him with?

Speaking of TSSAA not making sense, the tournament draw is done in private. It’s not broadcasted and there is no school representative at the draw. The only reason I can think that they do it this way is because they are doing something they don’t want everybody to see.. like making the Eagleville side of the bracket easy.

The state tournament brackets are out.. Eagleville at home vs. probably the worst team there on paper. “Blind draw” seems more and more like a lie every year. I have always been curious why it is done behind closed doors. Who do you have winning it?

I think coalfield is the better team. Not saying Hampton doesn’t have a chance but they are for sure going to have to get the bats rolling.. I just don’t see it happening. I think this is when their lack of playing a competitive schedule will catch up to them.

HUGE game in district 1 tonight between Hampton and North Greene. One goes home and one basically gets to play in a substate game. Both teams have their ace. Who do you think wins?

How is eaglevilles competition? I dont know much about the teams they have played.

I would also like to know how the rankings work.. for example, Hampton is ranked 2nd in the state and according to my math, they just finished 3rd in their own conference. North Greene and UH are ranked lower than them. It’s confusing to me.

I would put my money on North Greene and UH out of Region 1. Hampton has a shot but who have they played? According to my research, they have only beaten 1 team with a winning record (North Greene who returned the favor). Their record looks good but who have they played?.. that’s why I would take North Greene.
