  1. No. Not that it matters. I think his parents split and he's with his dad. Kid had played WR/TE his whole life. He's about 6'5" and 235lbs and AC had him at tackle. Powell has him at TE and maybe some at WR. He's good enough that they have put in packages just for him.
  2. They'll be lucky to get to 6-4 IMO. They lost a lot. They have a few pieces coming back but no where close to being a title contender. The heir apparent at QB is playing at Oak Ridge along with a reciever that was supposed to be at AC. My guess is they will go with Miller at QB. He's serviceable. They'll have a couple good linemen but lose junior Clayton who is now at Powell from my understanding. He's got a D1 frame (and athleticism) to play TE but AC used him at tackle. Expect a big letdown.
  3. Unpopular opinion. I welcome the NIL deals and hope it hastens the slow decline of HS football. It's already declining, maybe this will speed it up (fingers crossed). Reasoning. It's awful what some programs do to win at all costs. Tear the system down and rebuild it as a pure sport for the kids. It ain't been about the kids in a long time. Other sports are still just about the kids and competition.
  4. This sounds so much like sour grapes from you MIF. Character is one of the criteria. Go back and review my posts about the hazing incident pre season down in Tampa. It's an open secret. Some of these kids need to learn how to lose, with grace. Apparently so do some adults.
  5. Look for AC to have a significant drop next year. They'll have a few nice pieces but not nearly as complete as this year. 6-4 floor and 8-2 ceiling. At least as it stands now.
  6. Its wasn't political but it did seem strange. He was a lock for it but seems to have been tripped up. It's as if someone dropped a solo cup full of something, causing him to slip.
  7. Well, if we're being honest Martinez will be fine. His parents are loaded but they are entitled. If we want to talk about sending a message... how about this message. Every time the admin down there prop up a kid as if he's a hero, knowing what he did to another student and team mate, like he's the epitome of what we want all kids to aspire to. It sends a message. A message that if you're a good enough athlete you can get away with "stuff" and they cover for you. That your actions do not have consequences if you're parents are well heeled and well connected. That the victim doesn't matter. That (some) coaches don't care about right and wrong as long as they can win a trophy. The future of the kids who left the program because of it matter too. The victims future matters. The kids in the school watching, that all know what really happened... their futures matter. You are also dismissive of the other kids accomplishments. He played both ways.

  9. MIF, I'll copy and paste my reply from the other thread here too. But add this... if you really want to do the whole right is right no matter what you have to be able to take the results, even when it isn't in your favor. ---------- You're a good dude MIF. Truly. I'm actually a little jealous of your disposition. You're so positive and upbeat no matter what. I'm happy for the kids, the fans and with a couple of exceptions, the coaches. Clayton, Eli Nelson, Ty Murphy and Arender just to name a few... you won't find better kids. This vote IMO was at least in part due to the way the AD has rubbed some people the wrong way. When people say you either love or hate GT, it's true. I don't care for the guy and have made no secret of it. That, and they consider academics and character. You and I have had discussions, there's no need to go in depth again but I am by no means the only one thinking this... A lot of people in East Tennessee know that there were questions about an incident. Almost every student section from other teams had signs of some sort at every game talking about it, making fun of it. Many opponents barstool Twitter account made reference to it. Some of them took it down, some didn't. It's not just here on coach T, it's an open secret. Although other posters here on coach t have said the same things. I'm on the ground here in AC talking to people all over. This is the reality here. Bottom line. AC needs to learn how to win and lose with grace. This is true for the people at AC that craft the social media. Stop being so arrogant with it, either way. Message boards are one thing, we can talk trash. If admin from schools do it in public against other schools, it'll bite you. Bottom line again, We won state. We had a Mr football finalist. We had an undefeated season against tough competition. Stop acting entitled and congratulate the kid who did win it. He played both ways and His defense stats were legit too. He's no scrub and for AC fans to suggest otherwise is sour grapes and petty. That does not include you MIF. You congratulated him.

  11. People aren't dumb, they listen. It's based on regular session performance, academics and character. I'm sure GT has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way too. Maybe that played a part.
  12. That's exactly what Red Bank did to them in the first half. AC turned the ball over on downs inside the 5. Red Bank went 96 yards on a pass. AC shut them out second half and scored 29 unanswered points. I'm not saying they'll do that to PC. Only saying they've been there before and didn't panic or lose composure.
  13. Interesting. AC can score quickly. The passing game is legit. They have also shown that they are capable of grinding out long soul sucking possessions on the ground against good teams too. Typically our kickoffs go through the end zone too. I don't know what they'll do or to expect. I hope for a good injury free game that is decided on the field by the players.
  14. Just want to be clear... AC fans aren't the ones keeping this thread alive. Swipes was pretty cool about the whole AC vs GV thing. He ate his crow just fine. It's been put to bed between the two sets of fans.
