  1. I meant we should have had more than one ready. Any player that has four turnovers in a game shouldn’t finish the game for sure. That’s just football. The coach proved he couldn’t coach players up for sure tonight though. We had four-maybe five college guys on offense aline and yet we couldn’t score points. Maybe it’s not the players at all maybe it was the coaching. That’s why the other schools moved him so quickly. The old school playbook doesn’t work when it’s one dimensional offense.
  2. I’m not saying that haven’t gotten better, but we can’t score less than two tds against Powell and our offense has been anemic against good defensive teams. We have to figure out some wrinkles to move the ball more than just running it. There has to be quick slants, outs etc and get the ball to playmakers in space.
  3. If the wildcats are going to move any farther, we have to work more than one qb. Four turnovers and could have been a fifth doesn’t cut it for a qb in the playoffs. It’s time to get other guys ready if that happens again. They subbed out all year when things went bad, we should have lost that game and we had no backup plan. We have to have options, Powell will not let us back in the game like McMinn did. I’ll just leave this post up to get roasted if I’m wrong.
  4. It’s hard to say pass game issues when the avg passing stats is 10 attempts per game. That number has to increase. To be a leader you have to stay on the field. I believe 33 is definitely a leader on d and for the first time before he got hurt, the first few drives, 2 was walking down the sideline telling everyone good job and saw him making sure he went to high five the lineman under the tent. He hasn’t lit up the scoreboard every week, but I was glad to see that. 7 is also a huge leader on and off the field. It was great to have him back in the lineup last night. If these senior guys can make sure to keep their teammates up, and we get healthy it will be special. I believe the best we will do with this kind offense looking at Halls, Cleveland, and even West is at most a 70 run and 30 pass percentage. Of course until last night it was more like 85-15. We have to get the quick screens, the slants, posts and even the go balls back into the offense like the first week. We have thrown very few since week one, until one drive last night. Hoping for the best!
  5. He has very rarely praised any players. I don’t think that is his MO. It appeared as if 13 will be out for Powell for his second unsportsmanlike call and that can’t happen twice in a year, alone just within a few games. Especially if you’re a captain, just don’t say a word. He also seems very distracted this year, has dropped a few that should have been TDs and big gains. Did have a nice catch in the corner for one though. Hopefully, this gets worked out and he isn’t out for Powell. It’s hard to say but it’s easy to say coach was frustrated with the injuries for sure. I’m pretty sure all the guys would rather not be injured. Losing 44, 2, and 78 hurts because they all are solid players and need all of them if we have a chance against Powell. Hopefully all of them and 1 and 9 get the green light for Powell. It was great to see 7 back on the field even though he was still somewhat limited. Overall it was nice to get back on the W column.
  6. Still way too many turnovers. We had several fumbles and penalties . The turnovers almost cost us the game. Hopefully our starters get healthy. And it’s possible 13 was ejected again, he didn’t enter the game after that call, not sure on that one. We need them all against Powell.
  7. If you watched coaches corner, coach said that they worked a lot on special teams and taking care of the ball. We have zero interceptions thus far through four games so hopefully that trend continues. I also heard we may be getting one of our players back this week. We will see if he plays. Hopefully it’s a clean game, we open up the playbook, and our defense does well again.
  8. Agree here. I would like to see him try to build some confidence in players. A little could go a long way for these kids.
  9. Agree with this. We need to run hard routes in practice with one on ones drills so we learn to catch these balls in practice and then it will be in a game. Are we hitting our rbs enough in practice to let them know what contact will be like? Grasping at straws, but hopefully we can pull it together, sooner than later.
  10. I believe it does have to do with coaching. He took the blame for it. The key is everyone has to buy in. The players are playing like they have been taught. The players also don’t call the plays. It’s not the kids fault if a coach calls an option 4th and one, or a muffed punt on the 6 yard line. We’re they yelling oskie or something to tell him where it was? We have some depth, but sometimes the depth comes at a cost. I haven’t been able to be at practices to see, but have been told that we have all players on same field and there are many people practicing at every spot. If this is true, we aren’t getting many game reps at game speed. No rhythm. I’m all for depth as last year we had none, but there has to be a balance of actual practice reps and depth. I have always been taught your practice is what happens in a game. Anyone actually seen if this is the case? How are they run.
  11. Agree with that they were moving with the power game.
  12. Powell played without Potts and lost twice. Yes, he makes a difference. However, as good as he is the game against Karns was the Rb that won them that game. He had a great game. We don’t have our guys back, 1, 7, 9, 17. All starters in the offense and some defense side of the ball. Have to say one more time, last nights loss wasn’t on one player. The offense looked bad. The penalties once again were bad. The play calling looked bad. We had four fumbles, three that were lost. All by different players. Balls dropped, passes missed, snaps low, line blocks missed, more than one or two players with that much happening. We have to get better everywhere to do anything at all. That being said, I am looking forward to being able to have a power back 7 with 22 again.
  13. He is definitely a big school recruit. He has all of the attributes. He just needs to dial it in and win the one on ones. When he has the ball in his hands it’s fun to watch.
  14. This season is already better than last season with the improved run game. And we have had a key back out for the last two. Before tonight we had very few turnovers and we had way to many last year that cost us games. This team will come together when it matters and perform well. Tonight was not like many of the good guys we have. I still believe it will be better off towards the end of the year when we get all our boys back.
