  1. I've see both players play in different tournys. One I've seen Wattad play at the Arby's classic for the past 2 years and at a couple of regular season games. He really didn't look like a big time D1 player to me, I could see him putting up good numbers if he stayed in the same city and played at ETSU or another mid-major. Wiggins on the other hand I have seen in several regular season games and were it really mattered....playing at the "BORO". He put up good numbers against a very good Hamilton team and couldn't be checked by any of the Hamilton players. Not saying he is that much better than Wattad but Wigginns' game looks better suited for "big time" D1. Who knows I have been wrong once before.
  2. Not sure its a coaching issue with CCHS. Word has it that 75% of the players don't even show up for shoot arounds during the summer, none of them ever put in any practice other than team practices, attitudes seem to be a problem also, and most of the players just don't care. CCHS has just lost it in athletics. (At least now you see the football players working out) basketball at that school just seems to be a lost cause.
  3. I can't believe no one else has mentioned Wiggins! He's from the east but still no one from Hamilton even slowed him down.
  4. Yeah thats true Agree to disagree. Now who will have a bigger impact in the ACC?
  5. As you had said Thad's stats were better. Maybe if he had been more willing to share the wealth things could have been different. And yes in the title game Wright would have been more of a difference maker. A much bettter shot blocker who can change the game with his defense. Also note Young's 6 turnovers in the final game compared to Wrights 1 in his final game. Wright is the type of player who doesn't have to have the ball in his hand to contribute Young is a more ball dominate type player unselfish maybe but still ball dominate. So yes Wright could have made a difference in that outcome. Like I said Wright for ,now not saying he has a brighter future, but he is the one with the W's and a player like him fits into alot of coaching systems.
  6. Usually there is the Tn. vs. Ga. All-Star Game. I'd like to here about that if anyone has some info on location.
  7. Didn't Brentwood beat St. Patricks NJ. who was ranked#3 in the nation at the time? Didn't Brentwood beat Mitchell by 11 earlier in the seasaon? The division play meant nothing this year with the teams that Brentwood played. Also you play basketball to win not for stats so NO stats mean nothing. Take the Pistons for example, Take Billups away and add Iverson much better stats but the team chemistry would be wrecked. Maybe if Thad's stats were better spread out over the team they could have been more successful who knows? Bottom line is you play to win, one "superstar" delivered one did not. You can blame coaching, and you can blame "other things" but it all comes down to the W and yes the gold ball. Basketball is played on the court not on the bench, not by the fans, not by us wasting time at work posting on sports forums, but by the players and Wright is the one who delivered.
  8. Just a thought. Is it coaching? Not since the days of Science Hill has the east had a team that could dominate. Wiggins from Greenville looked like the only legit MAJOR D1 player from the east. Is it just demographics? In other states it isn't so one sided. or is it that the east is just the football side of the state?
  9. True the NBA drafts on potential not ability. But we're tallking about highschool here not the NBA. Brandon Wright took home the gold ball and not the silver, he had a better overall team record for the season, he played a tough schedule, he didn't vanish in the second half of the championship game. Thad is an increadible talent that will play pro ball. But at this point Brandon Wright would have been my choice. We aren't talking about the future we are talking right now. Thad may have more of an upside and potential but what is potential other than unreached ability? I'll take Brandon Wright and the gold ball at this point. P.S. I'm still in shock Thad Young wasn't Mr. Basketball!!!
  10. HA HA you got it!!!! good job it was all because of my post for you (just kidding)
  11. Hey I just want to vote for PTSsportswriter. He has lots of posts in every sport and he's very informative. I don't post enough to care about a plus membership, but I love the site to keep informed. PTS could benefit you guys in the future (thank me later if you get it PTS)
  12. This guy was amazing! I was impressed by him more than anyone (except maybe for Watkins if he learns to hit free throws) I could see him playing well in the SEC or being a star at a "Mid Major"
  13. Yeah Cosby playing in the Arby's Classic would do nothing but kill confidence...not saying the guys can't play but the east Tn. teams are usually the ones taking the 30 point beatings by some other schools B squad. Something out of state or getting together their own tourny together would be great. You know anyone with some media connections who could find out more about these things ? Next year should be more competative all around for the Eagles but playing good teams is only going to make them better.
  14. Yeah ...I know they would get killed against that caliber of teams thats what the little goofy face was for... sarcasm. Wiggins is a D1 player for sure, if Hamilton isn't gonna stop him then Cosby or anyone from this side of the state isn't going to. It would be nice for the guys to get into a mid season tourny with some bigger teams though don't you think?
  15. No one from Hamilton could stop Wiggins. Too bad Greeneville was a 2 man show I mean Wiggins and Moore played team ball but Hamilton was just too good for everyone else. I look foward to watching you guys(Greeneville) beat up on CCHS in the IMAC again next year.
