  1. He is going to do a great job for MTSU. He will have to get a crash course on the problems concerning recruiting but other than that he will be a big help over who they had.
  2. I think I read in the paper Weave was going with Breeden. Besides Weave is more of a sidekick for Breeden. I dont know if it is a requirement that the new coach has to be a teacher or what but my guess would be perhaps Edwards who teaches at the school might step up and have her husband Dale Edwards get involved. Dale Edwards was the previous Xtreme Edge and later Nighthawks coach that had all that success. He would be an excellent high school coach.
  3. The biggest problem , a few years back, when metal cleats first appeared in high school ball , was that NO players had ever had them on their feet before. They had grown up in rubber and were used to doing things you just simply cannot do in metal. There was little to NO instruction by high school coaches concerning the transition and some girls really got hurt. I think the lack of instruction was a major problem. I do know for a fact some really good players got hurt and never got back to 100%. I know of one who is still, after 4 years, has steel rods in her ankle and permanent ligament damage. Some girls were seriously scarred. I remember seeing a 6 " gash on one shortstops leg from a run in at 2nd.
  4. Isnt there a Maryville pitcher that is pretty good? Also who does Beech have pitching this year? There have got to be others. Are any really dominating?
  5. Who are the best pitchers in the state this year and what do they have that makes them special?
  6. What a silly comment. Cat made the ALL SEC TEAM last year for what she did on the mound. (one of four pitchers I think) Do you know how hard it is to do that. Ivy will probably win SEC awards this year too. I am so proud of Megan Givens , Whitney Hammond, and Shelby Burchall too. I heard from the Tennessee parents that during the Oklahoma game, which is one of the best offensive teams in the nation by the way, Ivy and Cat had over 10 k's throughout the game and the Tennessee girls had 6 hits by the third inning off of Oklahoma's ace. They loaded the bases twice. They are going to be fine. The best thing about it they say the girls are having a great time. This is the best team chemistry wise UT has had in years. They are loving practice, the travel and the tough competition. Saturday was all about just having a bad , cold, wet, muddy day. So what. Be proud of your daughter at UT Chattanooga, brag on her team . I will support you all the way. I hope she has as much fun as the Tennessee girls.
  7. What pitchers do you consider being college "token pitchers" ?

    Classless quote

What that coach said was a SLAP in riverdales face! What a jerk! I am not a riverdale fan but I do know they have worked hard for six years to bring thier program to this level. Have you seen their facilities? They are WOW! Those kids and parents earned every cent , penny by penny, to build that field and indoor batting facility. They have played with heart and soul to win . They wanted it more and because of that they are the better team! Congrats Riverdale and shame on Beech's coach
  9. I agree ASA needs serious help. But still ASA is BY FAR the best national tournament to attend because of the high level of play. To clarify what you said, correct me if I am wrong, Your team qualified for 18UA , went and played in a 18U Gold qualifier, beat Indiana magic, were ejected from the tournamant ,and then they stripped you of your 18U A berth????????????? So you had to go the Florida? Or did you get to keep your berth to 18UA nationals but chose not to go there because your coach had a prior commitment, or both? Sorry , I am confused. By the way that team you beat , Indiana magic ,was the team putting on the tournament. Their coach " Clay" pulled a few other things at the end of the tournamant to put out the Southern Force team. ( or so several Tennessee kids on the southern force team say) I understand why ASA would leave a bitter taste in your mouth, but for now ASA is the only nationals that enables kids to be seen. For now at least.
  10. Mr. Vaughan, I have read some pretty nasty rumors on this board, some of which were damaging to girls and thier families. I know I need to do better with my comments too. Best is right about a couple of his points. I think, We need to be aware people , as stupid as it seems , believe what they read on here. Kids read this board a lot too. Trust me there are plenty of things to argue about and comment on besides focusing on details of somebody's parent losing a job or any other personal family matter.
  11. That is certainly exciting news and I am proud of these girls but I have to ask a question. I had no doubt if they went to a tournament like this they could easily win it. My question is Why did this team , with all that talent NOT play at the 18U A ASA nationals when they had qualified. I know the Xplosion went down to Florida because their coach is connected to USFA and the Xplosion was NOT able to qualify for 18U Gold. ( It is very hard to qualify for gold by the way) I am baffled. A lot of the firebird players are trying for college scholarships. There are no college coaches at USFA , they are all at the 16U A ASA Nationals and at the 18U A ASA Natioals and later at 18U Gold ASA Nationals. There are some talented girls on the firebirds team. ( This team even beat a team -Indiana magic- that did qualify for 18U ASA gold) As good as they were why play in a lower end nationals with no exposure? The best 18U players arent at this tournament to play against. Please dont feel I am being critical. I am just baffled.
  12. With only 12 or so teams in the tournament , and the top 3 or 4 GA teams already having a berth from a previous qualifier, I cant believe not one of four Tennessee teams made the grade with two berths being given out. That stinks for Tennessee. Maybe the 16U Nighthawks, 16U Fury or another Tennessee team will be good enough to make the cut at the gold level next year. Tough division. Big change from high school ball and the 18UA and 16U level.
  13. Looks like we have a great team! Congrats to the girls !

    Kat

Wow, what an award. I dont think any other player in Tennessee has ever reaped as many high awards and honors as Cat has. My daughter and I have known Cat for years and I will say her work ethic is like none I have ever seen. I am glad it payed off with these awards and such a prestigious scholarship. For those parents and players reading this , just know it takes , in addition to a lot of God given talent, a tremendous amount of hard work and positive coaching from her coaches to achieve the title of " All American " and " National Player of the year". Congrats to you and coach Breeden and staff of Riverdale.
