  1. It's all over!! Centennial wins for the first time against Franklin!! As an alum and former football player for CHS, this is a beautiful day!
  2. 4:00 left in the 4th. Centennial 42, Franklin 10. 16 years in the making!
  3. Great to see Centennial finish out the season like they did. I played for them four years ago and honestly didn't check after the 2-4 start to the season. I'm definitely paying attention now and hope the boys can grind out a win tonight at Tullahoma. GO COUGARS!
  4. wow thats profound... as far as everyone counting centennial out, i am not. hate me all you want. i know i'm biased but i will always pull out for a centennial victory as long as a live. CHS-21 Franklin- 17
  5. Centennial is 1-0 for whoever asked what their record was. They beat Antioch 21-12. I'm hoping to be at the game this weekend. Thats the upside of a Labor Day weekend. As far as the game goes, I have yet to see either team since last year. Obviously both sides lost players, Centennial probably more so than Franklin. So most will be quick to count Centennial out of this. I will say though, the fact that this is a week 2 game instead of a week 10 game will be very interesting to see. I think that works in favor of Centennial and the fact that they have only played one game. It's less game film to study. And I think there is something to be said about upsets early in the season. I really don't think that any one really believes if last years Page/Centennial match up took place at the end of the season that Page would have won. Early season is always the trickiest. And the last time I remember there being an early season showdown between Centennial and Franklin would have been week four of 2004 and it was the closest game in the rivalry. I'm not making a prediction simply because I don't know these teams. However that doesn't mean I'm not gonna be on the sidelines cheering on my boys in blue.
  6. still any quarterback that goes for 1000+ yards passing and 1000+ yards rushing and over twenty touchdowns in my book deserves it. I know I'm a biased supporter since I played with Chaz but still, the run game of Franklin benefited them more than Nichols playing. I'm not sure about Gordon and his contribution, but Chaz for a good portion single handedly carried Centennial to 8 wins on the season
  7. yeah good luck against brentwood rather you win then those cocky bruins but still basketball refocus
  8. ah finally basketball season and i have yet to see an in depth breakdown of Centennial's team so I'll try to do my best Drew Kelly, hands down, best player in the district, possibly in the Mid State. Averages something like 23 pts and 15 boards over the past two years. Ridiculous for a high schooler. King James himself only averaged about two or three point more and actually less boards during his sophomore/junior years. Overall stud and just having him on the floor will lead to many Centennial victories this year. Supporting cast should be something like Travis Williams, Luke Jensen, Chaz Scales, and Justin Brown Williams is 6'7" like Kelly but much smaller in weight but still and adequate post player to guard against other PFs down there. saw play time last year when Stroop was injured and Centennial did just fine with him in the lineup. Scales is blazing fast but sometimes erratic with his passing. Hopefully his Mr. Tennessee Football Finalist status will lead to smarter passing like he did in football. Not much of an outside threat but he can still hit the threes. Speed gets him quick points in transition and a quick step to the basket for easy points. Brown is probably a better passer than Scales but not as fast. Saw time last year giving breathers to McClemore, Jones and Scales. Should transition well into either McClemore or Jones's role. Jensen is one of the most improved in my opinion on the team. From what I heard playing this summer he had a streak of 8 or 9 threes in a row in one game. Much improved shooter due to non stop work since March. I see him taking McClemore's spot as the shooter. Not as good as a defender as McClemore was but give him time and good things will come out of it. Biggest advantage for the Cougars is their big guy down low. Thats no secret. Everyone knows it but no one knows how to completely shut him down. It may seem like you have him in check for the game and then look up and he has 25+ points. Centennial will ride Drew Kelly all season long to victories. Should be interesting to see which point man gets the majority of the outside touches this season. Over the past two years when Drew does get doubled he usually is smart enough to kick it out. His sophomore year it was to Byrd and McFarland. Last year it was to McClemore. This year he has Jensen, Brown, and Scales and maybe they'll be an underclassmen that will step up and provide help to Kelly on the outside. Who knows. Disadvantage could be found in perimeter height. Kelly and Williams are both 6'7" and should be able to contain the middle. Outside however, the tallest you have is Jensen at 6'0" after that Brown and Scales are right about 5'10". When you get perimeter players like Young who is 6'2", it can get a little iffy. Also the lack of a consistent three point shooter could hurt them. Neither Jensen or Brown have had enough play time in the past to show what they can do consistently but eventually one of them will develop into that shooter. Overall I see Centennial fighting it out with Franklin for the District crown, just like before. January 23rd and February 13th are the regular season matchups and they should meet again in the district championship.
  9. wow that has to be the most arrogant, cocky thing I have ever heard probably on this board at any time. calm down dude! I would like to say some choice words to you but I like being able to keep posting on CoachT. oh in case you didn't notice Chaz Scales is a Mr. Tennessee Football award finalist for 5a, as well as Nichols from Franklin. For being so elite, where is the Brentwood candidate????
  10. wow we can't even congratulate our team without getting bashed? are you kidding me? grow up Brentwood. No one is saying you shouldn't have won and don't deserve to be playing Franklin next week. Geesh! You think that people would show a little bit of respect for a team trying to congratulate their team. LAY OFF! Therefore, Congrats to Brentwood for pulling it out there in the fourth. Good luck next week. now that I'm done with my rant: I am so proud of the Cougars this year. They all played ridiculously well for a team that started off 0-2 in the season and managed to turn it around and make the Sweet 16. That's an accomplishment in any one's book. Two years ago Centennial finished 1-9, made a coaching change and look whats happened: Last year we were 4-6, this year finishing at 8-4. Matykiewicz and his staff have done a tremendous job turning around this Centennial program and honestly it will be nice to actually play teams with the same size as ours and not schools that have 5-900 more people than us. The fact that Centennial beat some of them (Indy and Ravenwood) should be a huge accomplishment to them. Can't wait for next year!
  11. 6-0 Brentwood right now not sure what quarter or time left but i would assume late first early second
  12. It should be a good game regardless GO Cougars!
  13. i really want Hendersonville to win so the Rebels will shut up for once
