  1. Much respect to Riverside, most of us true Ram fans knew this was going to be a battle to the end and not a blowout. Riverside players and coaches have no reason to hang their heads down, as I believe they will be a major player in 2a again next year. It’s a tough pill to swallow as we were on the bad end of a close championship in 2017. I definitely left being a fan of the Riverside program. As for Tyner, we get to enjoy this but next year we enter Alcoa’s world which will more than likely end badly but it is what it is.
  2. It seems he only can point to the past where their might have been some overhyped Tyner teams and yes they were a bit undisciplined at times. I can assure you this bunch is extremely well disciplined and were not overhyped at all. Started the season in the bottom half of the top 10 rankings in 2a.
  3. Both teams have some big physical boys in the trenches as well.
  4. The ball was thrown a lot out of that offense. It was not a true wing t but hybrid. Still have never had TE’s at Tyner, at least from 1990-present which always baffled me to this day. A good TE can be a dangerous weapon.
  5. I was a lineman on those teams and finished with Buttram, it was all wing t but a different variation of it.
  6. Fun fact, Tyner ran wing T for almost 30 years until coach Chandler took over last year.
  7. I haven’t posted anything on coachT in many years, still a casual observer but I wanted to pass along some terrible news for the Tyner community that former Tyner great Marquice Craddock has passed away. He was the quarterback for Tyner Academy from 1999-2002 and in addition continued to help the program throughout the years and was an overall great guy. He suffered from Lupus and ultimately lost his battle several hours ago today.
  8. I know the Rams started out having a tough season with the tough schedule, forfeits, etc but I'm proud of the boys for hanging in there and potentially finishing 2nd in the district with a win next week.
  9. So much for that theory, Tyner wins 28-14.
  10. Don't know how this would affect anything because Tyner finished 3rd in 6aa but I just came across the following article: http://chattanoogan.com/2012/10/26/237258/McCallie-Self-Reports-Eligibility.aspx
  11. As I Tyner alum and former football player I will say this, Tyner has never been afraid to play tough competition no matter the outcome. One year when I was still playing(mid 1990's) we had to play Marion County when they were a dynasty, and the next week we had to play Brentwood Academy who at the time were ranked nationally and a few more schools who were several classifications above us that were pretty good. With that being said, most people, players, coaches from Tyner will not complain(maybe a little) about having to play Alcoa in the first round, sometimes thats just the way the ball rolls. The way I see it, everyone in 3A will have to eventually face Alcoa and we have the task of facing them first. Sure, Alcoa is a powerhouse and probably one of the top 5 teams in TN regardless of classification, but no matter the outcome Tyner will give their best effort and will not back down.
  12. I spoke with one of Tyner's assistant coach's today and found out that next year's schedule for Tyner will be brutal. I don't know the exact dates but Tyner's three non-region games include Ooltewah, McCallie, and Baylor. Region games will include Red Bank, Howard, Brainerd, East Ridge, Hixson, Central, and East Hamilton. There could be a change, but I'm 95% sure all of these teams will be on Tyner's 2009 schedule.
  13. Tyner beat Westmoreland last year in the playoffs then lost to DCA.
  14. Well it all depends on if Westmoreland strictly runs the ball or are they balanced and pass the ball some. Tyner has a great run defense, but their pass defense in not that good. On offense, Tyner is a power running football team with a big line and many playmakers. Should be a great game, Go RAMS!!!
