  1. I have to know where to send the info
  2. Cocke County hires McKinney as new baseball coach By SETH BUTLER NPT Sports Writer NEWPORT – Cocke County High School has their man to anchor the Fighting Cocks baseball program. Their man is former longtime Elizabethton Cyclones baseball coach Steve McKinney. McKinney was hired on Thursday as Cocke County High School head baseball coach and assistant football coach. McKinney comes to Newport following a 20-year stint at Elizabethton as an assistant and later as head coach, where he led the Cyclones to a 20-win season in 2004. The following year, McKinney took a position as an assistant football coach at Copper Basin High School, ironically a school that was near the beginning of Cocke County football head coach David Crawford’s coaching career. “We are fortuntate to get a man with a number of years experience like this,” said Cocke County High School athletic director Larry Williams. “He’s going to bring maturity to the job and we feel fortunate to have him. “We think Steve is going to contribute greatly to both our football and baseball programs,” continued Williams. “We look forward to working with him.”
  3. NEWSTANG & InspectorVol Info is on it's way.
  4. Send me a personal message and I will give you more info.
  5. Both summer teams this year were upcoming juniors and seniors, and the fall teams are going to be the same age group. They play in 18U tourneys, some at Southeastern Baseball Complex, and at various college campuses. Once you are on the team, you can play on the team until you graduate high school. The ones that graduate are replaced by players that did well at the Pro Concept camp. The Pro Concepts camp is the last 3 weekends in October and the showcase is the 1st weekend in November. It is not, per say, an invite only camp, but it is usually hard to get into, fills up quickly. When you attend the camp, IF you are good enough, and IF there are any openings on the team(s), then you may get invited to play on the team(s).
  6. I don't want to get rumors started, since I don't have any ties with the program anymore. My son has friends that play on the team, and all I know is what they have told us. All I can say is that the school board did not hire him back for his teaching position. Maybe someone from CCHS can give you more info.
  7. Cocke County is currently without a baseball coach. Coach Darnell was not hired back for the 2006-2007 school year. I am not sure the reason why, just heard rumors. Their previous coach before him, Casey Taylor, is coaching at his alma mater Clinton. He took the job there last year after his father Alvin retired.
  8. Cocke County High in Newport is looking for a head baseball coach.
  9. Yes they are. They have a website that has info about them. www.riverdogsbb.com
  10. Now Seth, you know better than to start rumors, but I guess CCHS would like to have him back?
  11. That flash lasted 2 innings thanks to a mammoth homerun by G'ville. As the old saying goes, "that's the way the ball bounces". Minus some mental mistakes from G'ville and it could have just as easy been a W for Greeneville as it was Rutledge. As for Rutledge making a fool out of G'ville, no. You can brag all you want, but the game was closer than the final score indicates. As for Kyle, even Barry Bonds goes hitless in games. But, I guarantee he will hit more than not. And I guarantee you that if YOU were pitching against him, you would be hoping you don't let a pitch get away from you. Players like him can change the game with one swing of the bat. Just ask East.
  12. shsbsbll33..does this PioneerPitcher16 even play? He must not, cause if he was playing he wouldn't know so much about the stats. Maybe he's the book keeper. As for Kyle, seems like I saw him hit a mammoth home run against East to win the game, his 2nd of the game. I wonder how many this kid has hit.
  13. Ya, I know. Thanks. I have been doing some research on the recruiting process. That is why I didnt mention any names.
  14. Fools? Seems they were beating you til they had that one bad inning, and all their runs were earned versus the gimmes that G'ville gave you. The final score is misleading. As for the "kid" from G'ville, who is a jr, pitched just as well as your senior Walter State signee. Whose father, by the way, said TJ pitched a great game. You only got 2 hard hit balls off him. The rest were bloopers. As for Vegas, just to get to go you have to be recommended by a DI coach. He may go and not do well, but at least he is invited. Where you?
  15. I don't care if you know who my son is or not. As for the money spent, some big name colleges must not think it was a waste, since they are sending him recruiting letters and inviting him to personal workouts. In case you haven't noticed, this is an opinion based website. Guess you think no one is entitled to it but you. GO DEVILS!!! And in case you havent noticed, I never said G'ville was going to be the top team in the IMAC. All I said was that you all need to keep thinking that they don't have anything this year that they may be the sleeper team of the conference. Everybody said the same thing about the basketball team, and look where they ended up...
  16. Oh, you mean I have to play baseball to know something about it? That's a new one on me. I guess all that hard earned money I spent on sending my son to some of the best camps and instruction was a waste. Guess those college coaches and pro scouts don't know how to inform a parent & player about the little game of baseball. Here is your unbiased opinion, since you are so hung up on Jeff Co baseball. West defeats Jeff 6-1 in Hardball Tourney By the way, FYI, I only played a little game called softball in college. While it is not baseball, per say, it has basically the same rules and regulations..Where did you play college ball????
  17. Ha Ha Yea right. Not gonna happen. Especially since YOU mentioned it.....Spare you from what? Can you not handle the fact that a Mom knows as much about baseball as you?
  18. Did you go to the game and take this ASSumption on yourself, or just from hearsay? Greeneville has a young team this year, losing 7 of 9 starters from last year's team. They have 2 frosh and a soph in the starting lineup. The others don't have much varsity playing experience. Keep thinking that though, cause we may be the sleeper of the conference and surprise everyone at the end of the year.
  19. Get your score right..it was 10-5, but G'ville gave them the game with too many errors. Rutledge only had 3 earned runs. The error by G'ville's 1B that should have been the 3rd out opened the door for 5 unearned runs.
  20. Greeneville doesnt play until tonight, against Rutledge @ 6:45 @West.
  21. 1. Jeff 2. West 3. Greeneville 4. East 5. Cocke 6. Cherokee
  22. doubleplay96: You all may think im crazy but watch out for Cherokee. Cherokee's downfall will be pitching. They don't have enough of it that has had much varsity experience. Trey McMillan is among the top pitchers in the conference, but one player can't pitch every game. They have about 5 kids that play summer ball with my son on a team that is coached by a pro scout, so, yes, the talent is there. They surprised some teams last year, and I see it happening again this year.
  23. A portable mound, all dirt infield, and little league dimensions to me are what I would call sub-standard for high school play. As for knowing nothing, I know quite more about Mo'town East than you and "the people at East" think, and I do know that Sherwood is owned by the Parks & Rec, thank you. As for your info, I didnt say anything about East baseball or it's supporters, just about the field situation. Sorry to get your panties all in a wad. Hope you enjoy your coacht registration.
