  1. The grammar mistakes in your post are not helping your argument.
  2. Students can out of zone into Maury County from surrounding counties for a fee of $1000. Are you suggesting that private schools shouldn't be able to do the same?
  3. You definitely have a great deal to brag about tradertwo. Sounds like you have a good thing going. Having said that, I don't believe that TheMirrorThief was completely wrong. I believe that your community is behind your school system...and help them be what they are. That is NOT the case everywhere. Your school's accomplishments are unique. The state as a whole is much further behind. You surely understand the complaints of those whose schools are behind...and I'm sure they are concerned, involved people. Running for a board seat doesn't necessarily change things if the money to make changes isn't available. My school MtP has been revitalized recently...after floundering for several years. We have had some recent growth...but we are still very far behind. I definitely understand the frustration of others...
  4. I really don't know...that whole division is weird. I've not been involved with anything but public schools...so I have nothing to compare. There are big number differences in enrollment within classifications. Guess we can watch and see...
  5. Believe me...we would have followed along with all other sports. We quit them in basketball...and we would have in football too. I heard we whined the loudest in the conversations with Dr Marczak about the boycotting them
  6. Yeah...we don't seem to want to step up our game. We...here in Maury County...just want to shut out those who have a successful run. I have said it before and I'll say it again...I'm ashamed that my team was one of those who refused to schedule CA any more. We seem to forget that for YEARS we beat them in regular season games...and took home the Daily Herald award. When the tide turned and they began to beat us...we tucked tail and ran.
  7. Yeah...Let's get rid of anybody who is any competition. Don't anybody put them on our schedule. Don't want to play successful programs! Can't have any competition in our area! We can't compete with programs when they are doing well. Get rid of them QUICK...
  8. They can offer need based financial aid...that's all. I think it can come in the form of work study and tuition reduction...but I agree...after the way we treated them, I hope they do well.
  9. The TIgers by at least two touchdowns!
  10. They may go Division II...I have no say in that...nor do I care to. What I do feel that I can talk about is the fear and whining we are teaching our children by crying foul at every turn. If we were really interested in fairness we would stop playing ALL privates...not just the ones who beat us. I say if we practice harder and beat them a time or two...we suddenly will go back to not caring what division they are in.
  11. Lol...whatever! Why didn't you turn them in? Everybody always knows somebody it happened to...but nobody does anything about it. Kids get stolen away by other public schools that offer better classes, ball teams, a better set of friends, etc..., all the time. Nobody cares when it's public schools...just if they believe privates do it!
  12. We didn't "level the playing field" against Zion or Franklin Classical in basketball. We didn't "level the playing field" against Grace Christian in football. Could that be because they aren't winning? I am a Tiger fan and you can't bully me into submission by trying to say I'm not. I'm not afraid of playing hard. I'm not afraid of having to work twice as hard as anyone else. I just hate that we teach our children to cry foul instead of work hard. And yes...I actually believe this move does exactly that! We beat CA in football for the Daily Herald Cup year after year after year...and they didn't stop playing us. I didn't say CA didn't play a Division II schedule because of travel...they stated that as part of their reason for staying in Division I....I merely repeated what they said. They also sited the love of playing in county rivals....
  13. Zion made a choice to move to Div II so that they could offer financial aid to high school students. They didn't leave because they had a couple of winning seasons and we got scared. They didn't go because we cried like babies, took our ball, and went home. I've never been a quitter, and I'm ashamed of us.
  14. Travel to Nashville, Antioch, and Murfreesboro is much different than Mt. Pleasant, Sante Fe and Culleoka. Difference of 45 minutes one way...or more..as opposed to 15-20 minutes. Big deal on school nights...and middle schools backed out too. Want your children out that late during school?
  15. What we do instead, cbg, is teach our kids to cry foul about every loss. We teach them to look for reasons for our losses outside of ourselves. We teach them that the other team, or the referee, must have done something to cause our loss. Couldn't possibly have been that we weren't prepared or that we didn't play our best. I just don't like to see kids taught to play the victim. Public schools wanted CA out...and when they didn't bail out...public schools tried to force them out. CA stated their number one reason for staying was travel time, and local rivalries. Public schools set out to remove those things from them. I hope CA doesn't give them what they want. I would like to continue to play them....
  16. Public school out-of-zone is used for athletics as well as any other reason you choose to use it. TSSAA is fine with it as long as you begin Freshman year in your school of choice, or sit out a year. Concession stand work for ballgames at CA is handled by volunteers. Football concession is run by youth league football parents and basketball parents...and visa versa.
  17. It costs to ride those buses...it's extra besides tuition...and most students on them are elementary school age. I guess if they are profiting from winning then the public schools who win profit too? In that case public schools shouldn't allow out-of-zone? My guess would be that the baseball program at SHHS has a few students who came there to play for a great coach and a winning team. They've had great success in the last few years...but guess what? No complaints from area teams...no dropping them from the schedule... Why didn't anyone drop CA when they were mediocre? If you know much about small school districts you know that success and great players cycle around. MtP Football...and basketball is a great example. Nobody tried to drop them... I just hate to see people take advantage of an old stereotype to try and rob a team of success that they earned. Use the "they must be doing something illegal, immoral, or just not right in order to win...
  18. Students in Maury and surrounding counties can apply out-of-zone and attend/play in any high school in Maury County. Students from out of county would have to pay a fee...in county do not. They would have to provide their own transportation but that would be much cheaper than paying tuition at CA. I just never thought the people in my own county would become frightened to play a school that has had only limited success in the past. The last 2 years they have begun to compete...and we're bailing? Are you kidding?
  19. Seems to me the teams were fed up with being beat! Give a team a couple of winning seasons and everybody bails. Smacks of fear....
  20. I didn't mind the blue as much as some Mt. Pleasant faithful...but I was glad for the return to more red. I also liked the mTp on helmets...and prefer the old T as opposed to the TN Titians T... Just my humble opinion... I'm excited for the beginning of a new era....GO TIGERS!!!
  21. She is not related to those involved.
  22. Tyson Webster is Devonte Webster's dad...is he Corey's too?
  23. My guess is that he is speaking of BEFORE that.
