  1. As I stated this in the other thread, "Based on this past year WC has hired local people. If this is the case then they will either hire someone from the current coaching staff who is local, or they should go after former Pioneers like Dale Dunlap,(Christian Brothers High School) or Brian Duncan(Siegel)." I feel they are looking going to be looking for a hometown guy.

  3. Pioneers win 41-0 and end the 9 game home losing streak. Way to go boys! Now did we have enough chips to fall to make the playoffs. (It is a long shot, but hey it could happen!)
  4. Looking at both the schedules of the Pioneers and Panthers they have the same results against similar opponents. This will be a great game! If the Pioneers put together all four quarters I say they come out with a win. #pioneerSTRONG

  15. From the Southern Standard "Board narrows search in coach hunt Former professional athletes and coaches have applied By RON MOSES Sports Editor for the Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.) According to Roy Pierce, who is a member of the WCHS panel that will be selecting the next head football coach for the Pioneers, the committee is narrowing down applicants and they have seen some highly qualified coaches looking to fill the position. At this point, nine applicants have made the short list of contenders and Pierce says he couldn’t be happier with the quality of those applicants. “All of the coaches we have interviewed,” he said, “are 100 percent committed to coming here. We have seen a lot of guys who are highly qualified to fill the position.” Some of the names of note who are in the running are Tommy Johnson, who some may know for his play under coach Gene Stallings or his work in the NFL for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also spent time coaching in the Arena Football League prior to the league’s shut down not long ago. Johnson has ties to the Middle Tennessee area and looks to return. “There are a lot of applications from local folks,” said Pierce. “Some of these coaches have been away for 20 years or so and just want to move back to the area.” Another name thrown into the running is Scott Smith. Smith is best known for his work with Ezell Harding where he took that program to the state tournament in 2003. Pierce enjoys the fact he and his colleagues on the panel have such a high quality group of candidates this time around. “This is the best group of candidates we have had to choose from,” he said. “We have always chosen the best person for the job, but, this year we have some guys with really good résumés. I don’t know if it’s the economy or what, but we have a different caliber of applicants this time.” Pierce says some of the candidates preferred not to have their name mentioned for this article, but others being considered range from former professional athletes and local coaches who want to move to a bigger school."
